The forema is worn on top of the antheatos and varies in design not only according to House, but also to profession and title. As mentioned in the add; Lior’s forema is that of a Warrior Prantiqeth of the House of Light. In contrast, his Blood Brother, being a Mystic Prantiqeth of the House of Darkness would have a very ornate dark robe (probably black and violet) with silver sigla and trimming (think similar in design to Dagon’Hai robes or Jhallan’s mahjarrat robes, only somewhat more ornate.) The forema is worn indoors for most occasions (to wear one’s panofori indoors would be considered an insult to the host as it would suggest that you do not trust him to protect you as his guest.)

The outermost garment for a Prantiqeth is the panofori; of which Prantiqeth often own two sets: a ceremonial set and a practical set (generally, Mystics only have a ceremonial set.) The ceremonial set demonstrates both title and House, while the practical set focuses more on profession and title. However, both sets are heavily laden with protective sigla which make the panofori more powerful than nearly any armor that the unenlightened races possess. Panofori are worn to public places and while traveling; to wear one indoors would suggest distrust of that place and its owner(s).

Amazing Aqua, simply astounishing the amount of detail you went through to create such a rich and variated race. You know I'm a sucker for mythological culture and as such reading such creation, your notes and imagining this race actually existing, makes it all the more exciting.

It's such an extraordinary race, even though it's role within the story is still vague for now as this as served as a mere prelude and simple introduction to a few of their habits and costumes, thus the need to explain, which I very much appreciate, and at the risk of sounding like a groupie, it's awe inspiring. I can write, I can imagine, heck, I can create, but never anything into the lengths you have managed.

I have a few questions about the Prantiqeth, some of them about their origins and deep costumes, but I'm afraid you won't answer them so that you can reveal them along the story. Anyways, I'll ask two that I find most pertinent.

1. What's the origin of the name (latin?), but in the context of the race. Is it a title adopted by them after attaining enlightment or is it the 'true' name of their race in your context? You said they were once part of a human tribe, thus my question, and I honestly doubt it's their 'true' name as it would give to those who know them power over the entire race.

2. As for second, are they xenophobes? Or at least do they feel the same way mere mortals do? Displays of racism and such are bound to morals of people that can die whenever they least expect, thus excluding Prantiqeth of this tier, but can they? I'm asking this because Lior desplayed quite a sense of superiority towards unenlightned, at least to me, with that little abbreviation and his expression at his Blood Brother's attitude.

And, hum, that's about it, hope you get back soon and hope your exam went well Aqua. Best works!

Alright, in answer to Kain's questions:

1. The origin of their race's name is a mystery even to most of the Prantiqeth themselves. There have been arguments back and forth as to whether it was the name of the first member of their race, the name of the place where their race was formed, or whether it is a word in an archaic tongue (It does not seem to mean anything in any ancient tongue known today.) There is even argument over whether name was one the early Prantiqeth used to refer to themselves, or if it is a word that the "peri" used to describe them.

One thing can be said about it though; while the Prantiqeth do believe that every race has a "true name" they do not believe that these true names can be understood or remembered even by the enlightened races, and furthermore that a race's true name cannot be expressed in any mortal language, even the incredibly descriptive languages of the enlightened races. So the name "Prantiqeth" is definitely not believed to be the race's "true name."

2. The Prantiqeth are not xenophobes per se. They do however possess a sense of superiority over the unenlightened races. However, they more view the unenlightened races in a similar way to which an adult human might view a child; they think themselves superior, but are sincerely fond of, and wish the best for their unenlightened brethren. In fact the word "peri" is meant as sort of a pet name for the races (Their are of course, exceptions among the Prantiqeth, but one who despises the unenlightened races would call them "blakas" which roughly means "idiots".)

The conversation between Lior and his Blood Brother is more Lior teasing his Blood Brother. Members of the House of Darkness tend to take a pessimistic view of the unenlightened, believing that said races are basically evil or delusional, and will destroy themselves barring intervention. Members of the House of Light often have a more optimistic view, believing said races are becoming closer to enlightened without help.

Interesting. This is why Aqua is such a good writer, he doesn't just create something, he brings it into being, explains how it lives and acts, and has it actually do as he said it would.

I will hold my direct questions about this race off, as I figure it is likely I will learn them when the writer deems it so. But, as long as people keep getting in questions(well mostly Kain, heh) I must ask one.

Is there an evil counter-part to this race? Or would that just be a particular level of demon. Or is it possible that because this race is "enlightened" that they become demons as a result of evil being a stronger influence than good in their spirits. Or is it that their souls have such strong influence that they are free of such evil as that.

That's all I am overly curious about. I will comment though that I do wish you would add as much as you explain haha.

Bio

Name: Daefon Tiburand

Gender: Male

Race: Human

Age: 24

Weapon: A katana forged from dragonite by a master smith whose name has been lost in the anna*s of time. Daefon’s great-grandfather came upon the blade at the site of an ancient battleground and passed it down to his son. However, the son, once a noble warrior went berserk and earned the name of “Baby-Butcher” for his infamous exploits. Daefon stole the weapon from his father’s house when he left his home to make his name. He also wields a black gladius and carries throwing knives in a baldric slung from his left shoulder to his right hip and back around. He carries his katana on his back and his gladius on his hip.

Armor: Daefon wears runite plate-mail that was enchanted to lighten it and allow for extra mobility. The plate-mail is embossed with the roaring head of a lion in gold. He wears no other armor relying instead on his speed and quick reflexes.

Appearance: Dirt-blonde, shoulder length hair kept back from his eyes with a black-leather headband. Dark, piercing brown eyes. Tall and lean. Has a crescent shaped scar on his cheek which he hates talking about. A long black cape embroidered with his emblem, a gold lions head. He is also missing a finger on his left hand.

Religion: He is loyal to Armadyl

Bio: Daefon was born the son of a General in Falador. His family was not popular among the people, because of his grandfather, who became a mass murderer. His father was respected and trusted by city’s leaders however. As Daefon grew up he was schooled in many subjects such as rhetoric and his personal favourite, battle strategy. At the age of ten, his father hired a former gladiator named Darius to train Daefon with the blade and other weapons besides. Daefon was prone to feelings of ineptitude and worthlessness as his father was often away and his mother grew ill after giving birth to Daefon and throughout his life she had “brain-fever”. She passed away just before Daefon’s fourteenth birthday

(BIO ***T)

When he turned eighteen, Daefon stole his katana, his plate-mail and a large sum of money from his home when his father was away on a campaign and fled from Falador. He journeyed to Ardougne where he signed on as a soldier. He quickly impressed the officers and was put in charge of a group of eight men when he turned 20. His men originally distrusted him because of his youth but quickly grew to like him when they experienced his aptitude for battle and his confidence even, some might say especially, in a crisis. Unfortunately however, while on an expedition into the Wilderness, his men came upon a larger force of Zarosians. His men were killed and Daefon captured. His captors tortured him until he revealed details on Ardougne’s forces. When they had what they wanted they left Daefon to die in the wilderness. Luckily for him he was found by a group of adventures who raised him back to health. Once he was able, Daefon left their company and returned to Ardougne. When he arrived back at his barracks he learned that many of the city’s forces had been wiped out thanks to the information Daefon provided the Zarosians with. Racked by guilt, he sold his house and assets and left with only his armor and his blade. He journeyed the land, looking only for Zarosians and mercenary company’s who fight Zarosians. He seeks to repent by killing those who slaughtered both his unit and his Army. Those who know him however suspect that what he really searches for is his own death and a release from his torment. Since he has no close friends he has no one to talk him out of his depression and since he is so skilled in combat, dying does not come easily to him. He once considered running onto his own blade but quickly decided that if he was to die it would be with honour on the blade of a more skilled opponent.
