After waiting the entire afternoon for the forums to return, I can finally post. Onwards!

"the two monarchs both go through a lot of torment, and the princess is the one who submits to it, and then the prince lessens the consequences he planned for so long."

Does that appear odd? Balor himself declared that he was doing all that he has done primarily -- if not, entirely -- for his sister. Her opinion is very important to him. At first, he was overwhelmed by that idea of letting what he thinks as a blight continue to spread, to continue to live in his world. But he gave it some thought, and realized that this world he wished to create shouldn't just necessarily be of his ideas, but of hers as well.

As for Lucia, I can't imagine her still agreeing with her brother's ideals. I think she'll still try to oppose them, or grow more and more submissive, perhaps even grow to accept and agree with them. Time can only tell!

"Occasionally, characters behave oddly, the most recent is the genius, which suggested to me that there is an evil force somewhere that has yet to make an appearance. A demon, maybe?"

Oh, yes! Giving a real answer would induce a spoiler. But Telvern isn't influenced by this thing behind the spoiler veil, though. He's just a little... remorseful, to say the very least. And perhaps his hand has been forced.

"Another thing I noticed, that your stories generally do not have very many monsters or non-human characters. Considering the environment and tone, I would have added more involvement with monsters, but it’s just a suggestion."

I accepted a werewolf character in the past, didn't I? Yes, Ark gave me a werewolf... and Kvetch, which was described as being a strange, non-human being. Though, I feel that you don't mean characters I've accepted, but rather made. I can't really conjure a super detailed and perfectly understandable reason for it-

-and perhaps I never will. I can't imagine vampires count, nor mere humans turning into large, demonic creatures. I guess it's an untapped market, and I might go that way eventually. Maybe! But my reason for not adding such creatures in this story is that most races in RuneScape might not be considered 'reliable' for hard labor, I guess? Humans would be the perfect race for such things, neither being too weak nor too powerful.

Some races probably remain alive. Though, bound to only a very certain area. Elves are probably in their lands to the far west, which (if you don't know) can only be accessed through a long, extremely difficult-to-cross passage. Dwarves and goblins have their underground caves, etc.

"I have a feeling a battle will appear near the end, maybe even an anti-god assault, but we’ll wait and see."

It just might. :P

Upon the subject of faith, yes I do listen to a bit of Christian Rock, three of my favorite bands to be considered Christian and one formerly. My stories -- particularly this one -- have had ideas from which I acquired by listening to the songs from bands like Skillet and RED, which are both considered to be under that genre. In fact, as I'm writing this, I'm listening to RED.

I don't know, I kinda just shrug my shoulders and say, "It doesn't really matter to me." I acknowledge the true meaning of their lyrics, but eh... I like their sound, and I have respect for those of faith. You quoted before, "When you are in love, you want to tell the world." To the quote's meaning, that's literally how I feel about it. If you feel anything like that, then who am I to judge, y'know? It might sound arrogant of me, but that's how I feel.

After an unnecessary explanation, I'm going to get off the topic, considering it's barred from discussion upon this forum. I'm not a big rule-breaker, they're there for a reason after all! :P

Anyway, have a good day!

I was also barred from forum access.

I think I forgot a few things about Balor, as when you replied about his character, it helped me recall a few things like that.

Ah, my hypothetic demonic force did have some foundation! Too bad I can’t know anything specific, it’d make me look so awesome. Also, when I was posting, I avoided names in case of other possible readers, I don’t want to spoil anything for them. But then again few people are around this forum, but you never know.

Yeah, I referred to non-human characters and monsters that you yourself imagined, I could’ve been a bit specific there. In my stories, there are often monstrous beings, but sometimes the monsters are relatively non-violent. I’ve made my own versions of werewolves, naga, devils, and even mechanical (but not robotic) humanoids.

Underground Pass was my favorite quest, even though it was pretty annoying at times. I brought a cannon with me to kill the demons because I was too weak to combat them very well at the time. XD

I wholly agree with that kind of love, I always support individualism and freedom. I got that quote from Carl Sagan, in case I did not mention it, as it’s quite a beautiful expression.

Oh yes, the rules. I forget about them every once in a while. Well that’s all for now, then.

Needless to say, the forums being down made my day a little less productive. Oh well! I drew a silly picture of Raphael, taking a couple hours or so to complete it.

"Also, when I was posting, I avoided names in case of other possible readers, I don’t want to spoil anything for them."

Ah, which is funny because I said I didn't want to give an answer because it would be a spoiler. Ohoho... I quickly reedited my post and removed it. After all, as you said, there just might be folks out there reading. Maybe!

Well, I think there's always room to do some non-human creature of sorts in a future endeavors. Maybe a story about humans fighting to survive against large and powerful monst— oh, wait... This sounds like a Japanese anime. Nevermind! xD Anyway, I'll consider it! Get inspired by the multitude of mythological creatures, perhaps? :P

Oh, Underground Pass... Iban was a big noob, but getting TO him was... painful, to say the very least. My Agility level was pretty low back then, (and still very much is) so my face hit the dirt quite a bit! It was a challenge! But probably not the most difficult quest I completed, I think that belongs to The World Wakes. I don't fight bosses, I just fight weaker things that won't kill me with their thumb. The quest wasn't terribly hard, but Kree'arra (the big Armadyl boss guy in God Wars Dungeon) killed me a buncha times since I kept messing up. Once I beat him, I did the Dance emote.

You did mention Carl Sagan, actually. It is a very wonderful, true expression, beautiful in both its deepness and simplicity. But yes, I believe in that as well. You are entitled to believe in whatever it is that you want, no matter how many people disagree.

Anyway, I'm off. Take care.

Chapter 18: At the Point of No Return

The sun rose from the earth, smiling upon all who came before it. Its presence influenced the land, enchanting everyone with its glowing face. They were charmed like snakes, dancing to the giant heavenly body's tune. It was like this for every god to walk the city, giving just one more reason to bear a joyful grin upon their faces.

The day itself was absolutely splendid, one that all yearned to continue unto forever. The winds moved at an easy, gentle pace. The air was ripe, a perfect temperature for god and fruit alike. There wasn't even a cloud in the sky, the wide blue celestial dome was deeply-seated upon them. It was broad spectrum, a white horizon reaching up to a profound azure crown.

Governanti's market district -- a place normally flooded with people to its banks -- was desolate. So much so that an single plash of water could hang around this space like birds in a world with only one tree. In fact, the majority of this city was exactly this way; empty, without life. The human slaves still broke their backs, kept under surveillance of the ever-vigilant Watchers.

The city itself was humming to a sound, a buzzing sensation that murmured words of excitement. City criers couldn't spread the message any more than they have, a flame catching a gale. Those of bright eyes flocked to that place-to-be upon this most picturesque day. They hoped to see a day to remember, a day that would declare something they've longed for.

It was word of the appearance of a person, a woman of black hair and eyes as blue as the heavens. After seven years -- seven long years -- that woman was back. She had finally returned to her long forsaken duty. Or perhaps, it would be more appropriate to say... she had finally arrived.

The army of lights mounted their javelins and readied their arrows, launching them through their enemies that would see them blocked from the world: the walls and windows. The shafts pierced through a familiar glass veil, a vast ocean of light gently, warmly laid their bodies upon her head. Her black-as-the-night hair shined under its breath, her tan skin glowing flawlessly.

The bright morning sky blessed the occasion, as though this were the decree of a higher power. Indeed, that vault of heaven opened its doors, pouring out any and all gifts down upon those of the city of Governanti. Tucked away in that room where she confessed to her other self all the lies and hate, a young, black-haired woman stood. Her right hand pressed against the transparent solid, taking a minute to peek upon the world.

Her pale blue eyes lunged through those fighting lights, founding her view falling down into the lap of society. She had a bird's eye view of the entire city, which had begun to take the form of its predecessor. The buildings had begun to find themselves encased in adamas, giving them a crystal-like appearance. The Spring sun made the city sparkle as if it were flooded with seawater.

She then gazed just below, seeing a large body of her fellow kinsmen. They poured into the mouth of the castle, pushing past its lips and teeth. They were herded orderly and neatly like sheep, the Loyal Knights their shepherds. There was a charge of elation within the air, a type of happiness that would send anyone into a bounce.

Pushing away from that, she turned to her right. From the see-through glass to the looking glass, seeing herself look back at her. Her draping, ebony locks that reached to the end of her torso, her clear, dim-blue eyes. A beautiful, long dress which reached to her ankles. The dress itself was a deep, rich purple.

From the waist of her dress down, a split opening to the left side, revealing her left leg. She wore thigh-high, black laced-up boots with a slight heel. Underneath her boots, she wore purple pants. Her dress' collar was just below her collarbone, revealing just a smidge of her perfectly tanned skin. The edges of her collar and the slit in the left side of the bottom of her dress were both trimmed in a white embroidery, a sort of floral pattern.

Around her neck, that fine silver chain necklace which had the extremely rare green adamas as its centerpiece. It was her mother's necklace. Her sleeves were short, covering only half of her upper arm. Around her wrists, vambraces made of adamas, which stood like feathers. She stood there, gazing off into the mirror. Her thoughts no longer uncertain, no longer did she second guess.

There was one last part of her still left cold, laying folded neatly on the table beside her. She took hold of it, grasping it with a gentle, safe hand. Her mind had thought about him so much these past couple of days since her return, in fact he was always on her mind.

Quick she was to grab a shovel, deeply burying those emotions within herself. She threw his arm cloak over her left arm, buckling it around her torso. Prepared now was she for what may lie ahead of her... Of what foul and dreaded things would be the stone beneath her feet as she walked this trail.

Her ears then heard a sound, a hollow knocking from the way of her door. Grabbing her attention, she turned to face the door. "Come in," the onyx-headed woman permitted.

Pushing the door open, the one behind the door came forward. His deep-blue eyes found her, his one and only sister. Even before setting a foot in the door, he saw that vibrant, radiant woman and her gorgeous dress. He showcased a smile, closing the door behind him. "Hello," he gently greeted.

She smiled back at him, happy to see the sibling whom she loved so very much. His appearance truly befitting one of his stature, a lustrous set of adamas armour that sparkled under the morning star. "Hello, brother," she returned, then spanning her arms out. "Well, I'm ready. Do you think this is good enough for a queen?"

Walking to her, he closed his eyes and let out a light chuckle. "To say that it isn't would be criminal," Balor responded. "And you know how I am towards criminals."

She shook her head, knowing well what he implied. Now just in front of her, he stared down upon that green sliver of adamas around his sister's neck. Then his dazzling eyes scrolled to his right, gazing upon the red-bathed arm cloak. His right hand very slowly reached for it, gingerly grasping it. His sister then worried, seeing as he suddenly grabbed it with a bit of a change of expression, for better or for worst was unknown. "Do you take issue with it?" the black-haired woman questioned.

"It's a tad... unsightly, don't you think?"

"Perhaps a little," his sister responded to his expressed concern. "But I made a vow to him that I intend to keep."

Balor then turned his eyes to her. "Then there is no wrong in it," Balor stated. He then pushed out a sorrowful sigh, his face blackening to showcase the swing of sadness.

She turned to him, seeing the very woesome look upon his face. "What's wrong?" she asked, uneasy. She saw Balor's appearance, which looked at be at war. "Tell me."

"...I'm sorry," he apologized.

This came as a shock to her, the woman of black hair. She had the urge to have him repeat himself, so seldom did he ever speak those words. Still... his choice to do what he never did in the past was a little disconcerting. "For what?" she asked, worried.

"For everything," Balor answered, spoken perhaps in the most honest sense he had ever felt. "It was my mouth that took Uriel, my hand that slew Malik! The things I've done to you, the pain I must have caused you..."

"You mustn't think like that," his sister then advised him. "Upon us are the expectations of our entire race, all of their hopes and dreams. It's only natural to declare those opposing this dream as your enemy. If they can't be reasoned with, then they must die."

"The act remains," Balor continued. "If not upon them, then upon those known not as the enemy: mother, father, Lelantos. You yourself said that you hate me for the things I've done."

"Sacrifice is paramount to a ruler's success," she had spoken, then a smile rose like the full moon: dim yet exceptionally bright. "Don't worry, brother. If I hadn't forgiven you or thought ill of you, then I wouldn't be here, would I?"

"How can you just forgive me so easily?" he wondered. "...I killed mother and father, and brother; Malik, even a child! Never once did I look at you, never once did I apologize to you! I pridefully went about my day, oblivious to how much I was hurting the very person I was doing all of this for. And I—"

She then placed her right hand upon her brother's shoulder, attempting to console him. "—Balor!" she yelled, bursting open right in the middle of his voice. Her blaring shout had awoken him from his trance, snapping him back into reality. His widened eyes, his breathless expression, they turned to her, her earnest eyes. "You are not the person that you were, the fact that you've realized all of this and choose to apologize for it now proves it. You've nothing to apologize for, nothing at all."

"Oh, sister..." he mumbled, then letting out a light smile. "Thank you."

"Of course," she replied. "You've done so much for me, it's the least I can do for you."

"I was a fool," he spoke genuinely. "I made the mistake of pushing this -- pushing you -- away, and I will make sure that never happens again."

"No," she assured him, shaking her head. "it won't."
