Balor removed his hand from his face and glared intensely at the archer. What a change, Shinon found -- from laughter to earnest anger. Balor drew his blade, the Arbandor, and prepared himself to kill the archer before him. But the king then turned his eyes to his right, back over to the chair. He paused and listened carefully, then he closed his eyes and smiled.

"Oh, Lucia..." mumbled Balor softly. "You truly are one to be admired." His sword then withdrew into its shell, his hand kept close guard over it. His sapphire eyes then returned into view, glaring upon the archer who beckoned the king with threats. "It seems death has turned its eyes away from you once more, human." said the king. "How fortunate for you that my sister -- the one you wish to kill -- has ultimately spared your life."

"Tch..." growled the archer with frustration.

"You may leave now, human," commanded the tyrant. "My men will take you back to your cell."

"What a joke," responded Shinon softly. The day quickly succumbed to death, silently passing away before anyone realized. A replacement ascended to the throne, crowning the heavens as its emperor. It was a half moon upon this abnormally frigid Autumn night, a gentle breeze shook the spines of the people outside.

It felt as though it could begin to rain down white powder at any moment, the breaths of those brave enough to venture outside were obvious to see. Due to recent events, there were very few souls guarding the city of Lumbridge upon this night. And most of them were too distracted by the gelid freeze to really keep watch.

Beneath the castle of Lumbridge was the workplace of Telvern Thaddeus, the young genius who had discovered the way to create the Life Rune. Much like those outside the walls of the castle, Telvern's mind had wandered away from keeping track of his surroundings. Flipping from page to page that wore symbols and ancient text, Telvern researched those who walked Gielinor before him.

To the left side of his desk, a strange cornflower blue gem sat. It was small enough to fit in the center of one's palm. Telvern's callous brown eyes cut tightly to the right side of the table, glancing upon a small timepiece. The arrows pointed skyward, shooting straight for the heavens. The genius closed his eyes, pulling his right hand up to his face.

His index and middle fingers stick together, correcting the stance of his glasses. The summoner then stood up from his wooden chair and preceded to head for the wooden ladder. He had spent too long trapped in this paper hell, so he attempted to ascend to the mortal plains. He reached his right hand upwards, grasping it tightly around an arm of wood.

His body began to inch itself up, step by step. He crawled his way to the top, taking his time. He popped out of the rabbit's hole, coming to a dark, forsaken kitchen. Once he had left the prison of his own creation, he began to march forward. He walked down the hallway leading straight to Uriel's room.

Even at this point of the night, the young princess turned archer was still kept awake. She sat on her bed, still wearing tightly her usual equipment save her blade and bow. Sleeplessness troubled her, plaguing her like a notorious disease. As her mind skirted topics, a strange pair of footsteps caught her attention. She tuned her hearing to pay even closer focus on that solo heart that bounced.

She didn't like the sound of them, they felt familiar yet quite foreign. Elena didn't want to take a chance, bolting off of her bed and towards the door. Her trusted Steel Longsword always standing guard over the door. She quickly grabbed her blade and threw it over her torso. She then very sluggishly pried the door open.

Her pale blue eyes then laid down upon the back of a familiar man that resided below. As she saw him, her mind couldn't help but to recollect what her uncle Momus told her just two weeks ago. She knew she had to trust what he had told her. Telvern approached Uriel's room, clenching the doorknob.

He entered the room, closing the door quietly behind him. Elena knew something was wrong, very horribly wrong. She quickly jolted towards Uriel's room as fast as she could as a normal human. In the boy's room, Telvern walked over to him. The boy laid there, sleeping peacefully on his right side. He stared down the boy's face, his face appeared reluctant. "Sorry, Uriel," the young genius apologized, holding his right hand up in the air. "but I just want you to know... I'm doing this for your sake."

His right hand then began to glow purple. As this happened, the door into Uriel's room quickly swung open. Elena saw what Telvern intended, using a spell to teleport Uriel away. Her teeth fastened together, quickly rushing over to his bedside. "Uriel!" she shouted, leaping forward. Her body lunged forward like a spear, her right hand out like its tip.

Her hand took hold of Uriel's hand just before the boy completely vanished away. She disappeared along with the boy, dissipating before Telvern's very eyes. The young genius appeared ashamed, displeased with himself. His face pointed down at the ground, his eyes tightly clenched. All he could do now was stand there in regret of his actions...

And the next thing Elena knew, she was back in Governanti. She and her brother found themselves at the focal point of the market district which was silent and empty. All around them were knights clad in black steel armour, wielding blades and maces with deadly intent.

At least forty knights of glowing eyes stared the two down. Elena, being that she was on the ground, quickly leaped onto her feet with sword in hand. Uriel had now woken up, and was utterly shocked to see what was going on all around him. He too darted to his feet and readied himself. He seemed almost nervous by this sudden change in scenery.

The boy was quick to scan his options. Would engaging a fight be the best option? No, he's clearly outnumbered. Perhaps fleeing? ...No, he was completely surrounded. The boy was ready to fight if need be.

"I don't believe that is such a wise deci—" spoke the familiar voice as his tall stature came out from the body of the crowd. Gallows stood before the two but he paused once he saw that Elena too was among them. He stood there, his sky blue eyes gazing at her as his mind had to take a moment. "—Princess Lucia... I did not expect you here."

"Gallows," named Elena. "what is the meaning of this? Why Uriel?"

The general then folded his hands behind his back. "Ah, your brother sees him to be an important part in his dream." Gallows responded, then turning to a knight to his left. "Take them in to Lord Balor. But do not harm Her Majesty -- understood?"

Gallows then turned to Elena. "Just come quietly, madam," he suggested, placing his right hand onto the left side of his chest. "and I swear to you by my name that neither of you shall be harmed."

Uriel and Elena then both look at each other, realizing at the same time exactly how hopeless the fight would be. They both quickly dropped to their knees and pull their hands behind their head. "We have no choice," she replied. "we're clearly outnumbered."

Gallows seemed relieved to hear of this decision. The two were then bound by chains of steel and prepared to make the journey back. On the chains was that familiar two headed arrow symbol, perhaps a carving for spell sealing. Quite an inconvenience, Uriel believed as he looked down at it.

Something felt strange to Gallows, as if a pair or two of eyes were watching him. Regardless, they were escorted to the adamas-encased castle that housed madness upon this land. It fell silent as they traveled to the castle, not a word was uttered as the chatter of armour reigned supreme.

They walked the streets, holding up majorelle blue banners of a lion. They passed by the gates that led into the castle and began to pour in through the tall castle doors. He sat there on his throne chair, watching them come to him. But then he saw an extra, not just the boy he requested.

Before them, a long throne room that was one-hundred-and-fifty yards long and sixty-seven yards wide. Tall pillars held onto the ceiling, they were decorated with symbols and shows of power. From the throne to the door, a long stretch of majorelle blue carpet made of silk.

The adamas throne chair stood there, twenty feet tall. Its edges marked with gems of all colors. A face of a lion was at the very top of the chair, showing its power through a mighty roar. The ends of the arms of the chair looked like paws of a lion. And at the back of the chair spanned bird's wings made of adamas.

The king would be comforted by the finest cotton, violet red cotton padding easily made the chair one that the king would never wish to rise from. He rose out slowly from his chair, his eyes focused solely on his sister. His jaw stood agape, unable to answer to himself how to confront his sister. Gallows walked first over the king, bowing his head. "My lord," he greeted. "the boy as you requested."

"Balor," spoke Elena. She tried walking over to stand face-to-face with her brother but one of the guards blocked her way.

The general immediately looked backwards and waved his arms towards him. "Let her through," he commanded. "she is of royal blood and thus deserves to be treated as such."

The knight that blocked her way then quickly spun to his left, opening up a gap to allow Elena to walk through. As she walked by the general, her pale blue eyes gazed at him as his head followed her. "Thank you," she gratefully mumbled. She then returned herself to the topic at hand, relighting this beacon in her heart.

She then looked up at her brother, her eyes gazing into his. But she noticed the terrible change in him after the events that occurred just two weeks ago. His beard thicker, his hair longer, his eyes ravaged by sleeplessness. Inside of them was a lost, desperate space of despair. Regardless, she had the courage to move onward.

In his mind, memories ran helter-skelter. The illusion he set up was shattered, his 'sister' no longer sat beside him. Instead, she walked to him on the opposite side of his life. "Brother," she called out to. "why have you brought Uriel here?"

"Why, sister?" he frantically asked. "Why did you leave me...?"

"You know the answer to that," she quickly riposted, undaunted by Balor's question. "Answer me, Balor. Why have you captured—"

Balor quickly dived his left index finger forward. " I'm the one who will ask the questions!" Balor angrily shouted. His arm then fell down back at his side, his head fell down with it. "Why, sis...? ...Was it something that I did? Something that I didn't do? Even after all that they have done... are those humans really so important to you...!?"

Elena shook her head. "Yes, they are, Balor." the archer responded.

"Then tell me, sister..." Balor pleaded. "What have I done that is so wrong?!"

Elena closed her eyes, trying very hard to push down the feelings of sorrow and pain that began to swell like a sponge inside of her. "Everything, Balor!" Elena suddenly yelled, taking her brother back with surprise. Her calm, quiet demeanor eroded away, her eyes became clouded with emotion. "You killed mother, brother, father, Master Malik, all of those people... All because they "got in your way"!"

"No, I did it all for you! " he swiftly denied. "Those... humans almost killed you, sis! I couldn't bear the thought... the thought that I might lose you. So I required power to prevent that. I just... I just want to protect you, sis -- is that so wrong!?"

Elena shook her head. "No," she calmly answered him. "But brother, don't you see? In the process of gathering power to prevent you from losing me... you've lost me."

Balor's mind buzzed with this discovery. Was it really true -- these words that she spoke to him? He paused as still as ice, unable to fathom what he had been told. He dropped to his knees, crashing in a heavy thud. He had this look of disbelief written all over his visage. He literally didn't know what to think or say.

Elena took a step forward, realizing that her words truly struck a home run. "Balor," she kindly named, her voice warm. "I'm not going anywhere, okay? And we can be together again just like when we were kids, you just have to listen to me. Just... please surrender, stop this madness before you truly become lost. Please, Balor..."

Balor heard his sister plead for him to surrender. After this, he was almost tempted to accept the deal. But something in the back of his head screamed in a dark voice, telling him something he hadn't thought of before. It seemed so right, he believed. Those words that she said echoed with such a familiar ring.

Divus... his one and only father whose blood sullies his hands.

That thought crowned his mind, he became his own slave, his own prisoner. " Yes... that's right, " the king said to himself. " My sister hates humans! Divus... it doesn't matter what you do, you will never win! "

Through the tears of sorrow he cried that rolled down his cheeks, an iniquitous smile grew. His right hand clenched his face, a laughter then ruptured from the king. It rung all throughout this hollow throne room. Elena was taken aback by this laughter, unable to think anything of it. After twelve seconds of his madness pouring into everyone's head, the king finally stood up onto his feet. "Did Divus employ you, "Elena"?" the king questioned.

Elena couldn't understand what it was that her brother was asking her. "What?" she replied with bewilderment.

"Quite a lot of nerve you wield to stand before me -- to speak in her voice, to wear her face!" Balor continued to spew his madness. He then began to giggle. "But what you forgot is that my sister resents humans! She would never side with them! She would never want me to stop!"

"Balor!" she spoke with a urgent voice. "I am not lying to you!"

With his stolid expression, he looked down at Elena with no emotion in his eyes. "Prove it," he calmly, coldheartedly responded. Gallows, who stood just to the left of the throne was turned to. Balor's eyes gazed at the scar-faced general. "Break her."

Gallows couldn't believe what he had just heard, his face dropped like a stone. Elena especially couldn't believe it, her eyes darted open. Gallows seemed outraged, his disbelief melted as quickly as a lit candle in fast-forward. "But my lord!" he objected.

He walked back up onto his throne, turning around and sitting down on it. "That is an order, General," quickly returned Balor in a demanding tone.

Knowing that it wasn't his place to object, all he could do was follow through. He leaned forward, bowing to his king. "...As you wish, my lord." he reluctantly acknowledged. Gallows walked over to Elena, standing in front of her. Elena seemed to digest the madness that has devoured her brother. Though she seemed fearful and perhaps still shocked by her brother, she seemed ready. Gallows sighed, saddened by his command. "Forgive me, madam," he apologetically whispered.

"Do what you need to do,"

Gallows stood up to his feet, readying himself for the challenge of his life. Balor pointed towards the knights. "Bring the boy over here!" commanded the king. "I want to show him what happens when you defy your masters!"

Elena looked backwards, waiting from him to come forward. Two knights grabbed Uriel by his shoulders and forced him to walk forward, pushing him at points. The boy came out from the crowd, still bound by chains. The two stared at each other as Uriel was pushed into a perfect viewing position. He stood there trapped just ten feet from Elena.

The female archer then pulled her head back forward, looking at Gallows. Gallows closed his eyes, readying his fist. Then it came swinging forward, pounding against the center of Elena's face. He had unleashed most of his power in that hit, but he pulled back. Elena fell to the floor, hitting hard on her back.

Gallows then walked over to her and kicked her stomach, sending her rolling backwards. Gallows sat on top of her and began a ruthless barrage of fist after fist straight at her face. She attempted at no point to defend herself, accepting her beating. Each hit felt like a club slamming down upon her, lasting like a purgatory.

Eleven punches later, Gallows grabbed her by the collar of her black shirt, picking her up to her feet. He swung the back of his left hand, pounding against her head with intense force. She fell down to one knee, attempting to absorb the damage done. She had begun to bleed from her mouth and from the bridge of her nose. Gallows stared down with his sky blue eyes.

She then looked up at him, like she were ready for more. Gallows grabbed her by the throat and lifted her off of her feet. And he then chucked her to his right as hard as he could. She flew for several yards before finally her back slammed heavily against the ground. She flipped from her back to her front once she did.

Balor rose his left eyebrow, curious and a bit questionable as to what was playing out before him. "Why do you not use your powers?" he asked. "Surely they could aid you in this situation." Elena then slowly began to make her back onto her feet, completely ignoring her brother.

She stood her ground, getting back to her feet as quickly as her battered body could allow. Gallows seemed impressed, still he wasn't eager to continue on the brutality. Gallows then began to charge forward, dashing without breaking a sweat. He then readied his fist once more for another pounding blow.

With the energy behind his sprint, the general prepared to launch his right fist. It lashed forward like a catapult, its target directly aimed for the center of Elena's face. With Thor's hammer slamming with such thunderous power, it nearly wiped her off of her feet.

She staggered backwards, almost toppling over like a tipping chair. She then dropped to one knee, her face looking down at the carpet beneath her feet. She would then see a metal boot being lunged into her stomach. Gallows' kick would then send her to the ground once more. Her face wore an acute grimace, feeling the pain of her beating come into fruition.
