Raphael and his group had made their way to the eastern side of the moat surrounding the castle, standing beside a small fence of adamas-covered white stone brink. Some eyes constantly shuffling their eyes, paranoid and uncertain of their surroundings. A tense couple of minutes pass by like watching grass grow, the wait and anticipation for the next portion of the invasion murderous upon those forced to sit around and wait.

But they arrived soon after, finally alleviating them of the pain of the terrible wait. Libitina and Calvin appeared before the group, missing Kereske, Telvern, and a large portion of their clansmen as was planned.

Calvin smirked confidently, lightening the air. "We 'ad a few prob'ems, but we dealt wit' 'em," he stated, putting his hands behind his head in a relaxed manner. "Gotta say, dis plan seems ta be goin' pritty darn smoothly!"

"Almost too smoothly..." thought Telvern, pondering heavily for a moment.

"Eh?"

"It's nothing," the genius responded, then his steely eyes glanced down into the intimidating circle of water before them. Protruding from the water were stakes of wood, sharpened to give any unfortunate to fall down below a very swift, painful end.

Being that she was capable of such a feat, Libitina stopped for nothing in her own endeavors to cross. Backed by Solasúian might, the stoic assassin dashed towards the moat at full speed. Her foot pounding at the edge, her body suddenly leaped into the air. She crossed the watery grave with grace, touching down on the other side in a smooth roll.

She then turned her blood-red eyes to what was behind her, watching carefully as her fellow comrades slowly tried to follow behind her. There was a small, two-story building just off to their right, a sort of house imaginably. Calvin rushed up that building, scaling up its body faster than one could say "go."

The assassin found himself upon the rooftops, standing tall and rather proudly of himself. His head turned towards one of the Lamians who had accompanied Raphael into the city, nudging his head towards that building. "C'mere," said Calvin with his smile, tossing down a rope. "do yer thing."

Strapped to this Lamian's back was a ballista of a complex design, a common tool for the Desert Assassins to use. He was a rather large, burly individual, but even he appeared fairly exhausted from carrying around such a large tool. Regardless, it was a burden he had grown accustomed to carrying, finally having a moment of glory.

He ascended up the rope in a sluggish, drained manner, trying desperately to get up there as fast as he could. It took some time, but the Lamian finally managed to climb to the top. He stood up to his feet, his breath haggard, getting a thumbs-up from his superior. His breath like trying to catch a ferret, constantly scurrying from his grasp.

He managed to eventually get a hold of himself, his body regaining some of its lost stamina. He readied the ballista, taking a few moments to set it up. Once prepared, the Lamian loaded up a shot. It was a massive bolt with a rope tied to the end of it, capable of penetrating a man without even flinching.

Aiming slightly downwards, the Lamian launched the shot. The bolt zoomed out from the ballista, carrying with it a long, durable rope. The bolt found its target, digging a firm grip into the stone wall of the castle. Afterwards, he cut off the excess rope still inside the ballista, tying it off at the edge of the building.

The Lamian turned to Calvin once he was finished, nodding his head. Without any further delay, the dauntless assassin Calvin took to the rope. His left foot touched down upon the rope, putting one foot in front of the other. So skilled and agile was his advance, he could practically dance on that rope without a problem.

He kept his head forward, not allowing his eyes to stray. He knew wholeheartedly how deadly this stunt was, but fearing its danger would only lead straight to it. And his focus paid off, joining Libitina and making it across the chasm of water and death. "C'mon, fellas!" he attempted to encourage his fellow comrades. "Yer up next!"

One-by-one did they attempt their crossing, each having their own very unique way of making it along. There were multiple moments of tension, and a few had to be saved before they fell, but otherwise it went quite well. Everyone made it across eventually, leaving behind perhaps one of the more difficult parts of the mission.

They crossed this moat, but now they face a challenge of a lesser sort. These tall, abhorrently decorated walls towered far above their heads, its body engraved with flamboyance and pure devotion. A keen, and perhaps excessive, desire to display power and loyalty to the glowing eyed ilk, a show of true craftsmanship.

The masterful ornamentation was anywhere and everywhere one looked, but it shouldn't provide a difficult problem for those experienced in climbing. Calvin was elated as he gazed skywards, scaling the walls with his eyes. His face glowing with joy, his enthusiastic fingers ready for the attack.

To their left was a humble bit of scaffolding, covered with a multitude of different tools to be used to help crafting the walls. This would be the launching pad for the assassins ready to make their advance, so they wasted no time. Before he started to make his way up, Calvin turned to Raphael. "Ya comin', Raphy?" Calvin asked curiously, smirking at him. "C'mon, ya did it before!"

Oh yes, that's right... Raphael did climb a wall before, back in Governanti when he went to take back Elena. Well, it mattered little now, so Raphael simply shook his head as he passed up on the opportunity. A disappointed sigh pushed out from the social assassin's lungs, but he didn't let it murder his joy and thrill.

He and Libitina headed up the scaffolding in a strict, orderly fashion. They steadily zoomed their way upwards, passing by hammers and nails made of adamas along the way. Naturally Libitina was the first to reach the top, apathetic to the beautiful, breathtaking view in which she had.

The fading moonlight washed over her, surrounded only by a dome of midnight blue. The stars twinkling and winking at her like some kind of ladies' man, but such efforts to grasp her attraction fell flat on its face. Her view overlooked the courtyard of the castle, finding rather messy evidence of quite the party.

But she focused little on such minor, irrelevant detail. Her scarlet, glowing eyes gazing down with attention, watching carefully over her kin who steadily made their way up to her. But then Libitina's ears caught a sound, immediately grabbing her attention. She turned to see what was behind her, hearing a distant, echoing voice emitting from below.

She found her eyes gazed back into the courtyard, hearing the count of voices grow. The stolid woman inspected cautiously, taking mental photographs of every detail. Her ears open wide, listening into every breath and every word. She found soldiers with long, drooping faces, sorrowful of this unfortunate fate which they received: cleaning up the aftermath.

They were disgruntled for obvious reasons, picking up the mess that they never made. Discarded, half-eaten food and empty chalices of wine littered the courtyard, as well as other... stomach-turning, nauseating side effects of heavy drinking. Some of the soldiers acting as shepherds, guiding fools too drunk to find their way back home. It seemed even the godkind were powerless to intoxication, rendered dimwitted just like any mortal.

One of the servants -- or at least that's what he felt himself as -- sighed and scoffed at every chance he had. "This is absolute ludicrous," the soldier complained. "Most are beyond their minds to even think, let alone recollect the events of this supposedly "most extravagant" party. Madness surely must have befallen Lord Darris to desire such humiliation to continue..."

"Enough of your useless moaning," growled another soldier in frustration. "The Maiden of Festivities must be locked away for the night... After all, we certainly wouldn't wish for someone to get their grubby little mitts all over her, now would we?"

The belly-aching soldier then just hung his head. "Of course not, sir..." he responded with misery, sighing at his terrible luck.

"Come Galvis, we need to get her to safety," said another soldier, trying to motivate the depressed soldier.

"Yes sir..." the soldier replied, moping over to the side of the statue.

The commanding soldier then looked serious upon the sorrowful soldier named Galvis as he approached. "And for the love of Dias, don't damage her..." the soldier then strongly demanded. "Earl Darris made it explicitly clear that he does not want so much as a speck upon her."

"Yes sir..." the soldier repeated himself. Before anymore moans or scoffs could be made, the soldiers just focus on getting the statue into a place of safety. The masterfully crafted statue of the beautiful woman stood upon a podium of richly waxed wood, wheels were attached to the sides of it. The tag team of the depressed soldier and the try-to-be reinforcing soldier took on moving the statue together, pushing it towards an opened path.

Slowly but surely did their march go, managing to get the statue past a set of double doors made of a wondrously crafted, ornate mahogany wood. The statue was now out of the public eye, out of the vision of the death that loomed over their heads. She browsed their minds briefly, looking for the location of the statue.

Quickly did she locate such a file of thought, revealing the way to the cellar. The black robed assassin then turned to gaze back, seeing as her assassin comrade finally arrive. But then her ears suddenly heard yet another voice, but this was much more urgent than the last. It drew in closer and closer, she could count the footsteps.

The few assassins arriving dash for cover, either keeping themselves hanging along the side of the castle or finding a box or barrel to hide behind. "This ladder is ancient, so mind your ste—" some adamant advice bestowed upon another by a female's voice, coming from inside the northeastern tower.

In the midst of her words, Libitina could hear the sound of something snap from inside the tower. She could make out the hectic breaths of those inflicted by this happening, frantically attempting to catch themselves. "Argh!" she caught a voice holler, finding it as a man in panic.

"Are you all right!?" the feminine voice shouted back, concerned over the well being of her comrade.

"Bah! I'm going to be dead by the time my shift ends!" very angrily billowed the archer. "How in the Hero King's name does Earl Darris expect us to keep watch under these conditions? It's as if he intends to do away with us with this trap he claims to be a castle!"

"Well, his eyes are fixated upon the castle's exterior as of right now," the female archer stated, explaining the situation. "I did overhear him say that he'll focus on the renovation of the interior once his workers have completely finished the outside."

"Yes, his human workers..." the infuriated archer growled. "By the time they're done, we'll all be but a mound of ash."

Libitina stood against the wall of the tower in which these two archers climbed into, patiently awaiting the door leading in and out of the tower to open. Her weapons drawn and ready, her eyes deadly focused upon the kill. She found Calvin against the wall adjacent to her, aiding her in her assault.

Their heartbeat was completely stable, not letting their eagerness get the better of them. That was when they heard the sound of an old, creaky door swing open, revealing the two archers that came from below. The two assassins took the opportunity to take the archers' lives the very first second it appeared, quickly dispatching them in a synchronized attack.

It was like their minds were connected, the way they handled those two was absolutely perfect. A deathly form of performance art, a balletic, nimble strike with such ease and captivation. Calvin upon the female archer, while Libitina's blade was taken to the male archer. Their blades had pierced through the bodies of the archers, mortally wounding them with barely a murmur to be heard.

Calvin laid his victim down for his final rest, watching as he entered the very last seconds of his life. The true sign of his kind's death approaching, seeing as the glow of his eyes beginning to fade away like his breath unto the atmosphere. Of course, Calvin wore a visage heavy with grief, he wasn't a stone-cold killer after all. He lamented the loss of life, regardless of the blood that flowed in their veins.

His pale blue eyes then turned to Libitina, giving her the thumbs-up. "Nice one, boss," he complimented her with respect.

"You did quite well yourself, Calvin," she returned, ascending from the side of her victim.

Calvin felt honored to have such words spoken to him by her, smiling shyly from ear-to-ear. "All righty, let's git the others up 'ere!" he commanded, charging his still, observing body with life.

Calvin reached for his belt, detaching a long, strong rope he had at his side. He then looked down from above, appearing like a god gazing down upon his lowly creations. He smirked lightly, chuckling briefly to himself. "Good thin' we brought lotsa rope, eh?" he spoke silently to himself, carefully tossing the rope down along the eastern wall.

Down below, Raphael, Daevarro, Shakir, Shinon, and a few other Lamians watched as the rope aimed for them, coming down to lift them to new heights. It fell precisely as planned, landing just in front of the silver-haired heir. Once the rope was down, the assassin tied the rope on one of the many decorations that appeared all over this castle like an artist had way too much free time on their hands.

Just as the stomach-turning, rather nerve-racking escapades over the moat, those bound to the ground slowly made their way up to meet up with the assassins. One-by-one did they take flight off of that plane, finding their bodies suspended out of their comfort zone. Their hands reaching up, grasping upon a surface rough and braided. Their muscles pushed with great effort, feeling their biceps emboldened.

Some took a bit longer than others, like Daevarro for example. He had quite an exhaustive time trying to pull his small, frail frame up that rope, his arms thin and anatomical like the legs of a crane. But eventually did he guide his emaciated body up that rope, overcoming the cheers of encouragement being showered down upon him by the very enthusiastic assassin Calvin.

Once above, he was completely drained, hunched over. He received a very proud pat of the back by Calvin, congratulating him on his effort. Everyone was present, keeping themselves low to the ground to avoid detection. Libitina turned to her comrades. "Three soldiers took the statue to the cellar for the night," she informed them in a quiet tone.

"Very well," said Raphael. "let's get started."

But then suddenly did a sharp noise take solid grasp of Libitina's attention, viciously stealing her eyes. She quickly whipped her head towards the right, seeing an archer staring them down. The moment that archer took notice of them, his hand bolted for that which laid at his waist. His eyes widened at the presence of his enemy, feeling a gelid chill rolling down his body.

Just as this action came to pass, Libitina sprung into action like a beartrap. She jolted at a neck-breaking speed, hurrying over to the archer. There was a sense of urgency in her too, one perhaps even greater than his. Everyone took notice of this happening, the pressure to succeed growing exceedingly high.

They stared with heaviness in their hearts, the oxygen they breathed brought the weight of the world into their bellows. They darted up to make a move, it was absolutely imperative that they stop that archer now . Taut sweat dripping down their nervous brow, some preparing themselves for the blaring sound of the alarm to inform everyone of their actions upon this night.

The archer took hold of his horn, pulling it up to his lips faster than he could think. But so focused was he on trying to alert his allies that he didn't take much notice of his environment, an error that would truly prove fatal. The next thing he felt was a surprise, a very painful surprise.

He heard the sound of one of the crates behind him bursting open, the terrible pressure of his senses alerting him to the threat to his life. An arm wrung very tightly around his neck, feeling his body invaded. A dagger mercilessly tore through his lungs like they were made of gelatin, agony pulsating across his body like a terrible rash.

Multiple vital points were struck, causing profuse blood loss. His life oozing out of his injuries, washing his surcoat in a much deeper, more meaningful shade of red. The arm released him, allowing gravity to take him. His body crashed onto the ground in an ugly thud, his breathing terribly wheezy and haggard.

But even that wasn't enough to stop him, forcing his barely conscious body to move by sheer will alone. He very sluggishly pulled his horn to his lips, his hands quivering in pain. But then a boot stomped down and crushed his hand, suppressing his motion. His attacker simply looked on at this awe-inspiring effort; stoic, soundless, remorseless.

It was then that his eyes were beckoned over to another place, finding Libitina before him. She appeared like a silhouette with the star-striped sky as her background, finding Telvern standing there. A bloodied dagger clenched in his hand, a callous expression upon his face. Her radiant irises penetrated the darkness that covered her face, staring forward upon the genius.

He wasn't afraid or intimidated, glaring squarely upon her. The two simply gazed off into each other's eyes once more, holding a whole day's worth a conversation within the frame of a second. But the stolid assassin couldn't help but to feel intrusion upon their talk, hearing the disturbing sound of the archer's breath gurgling.

Libitina then knelt down aside Telvern's victim, bestowing him mercy. She delivered a swift, pin-point blow to the back of his neck, her blade ripping through his flesh and severing his spinal cord. Cradled by the careful, gentle arms of death, she could only hope that he finds serenity in the afterlife.

"The 'Libitina' I once knew would have never allowed danger to draw so near," the stolid assassin could then hear as Telvern commented with a harsh tone. "Continue this trend, one might find themselves believing your mind resides elsewhere."

The assassin then rose back up, turning her eyes back to Telvern. "I thought we taught you better than this..." Libitina criticized, completely ignoring the genius' words. "We do not allow our victims to suffer."

"It seems it has yet crossed you, but I'm no longer among your clan," Telvern informed her quickly, unfazed by her bypass of his previously spoken offering. "Putting it simply, I've not a care for your kind's ethics."

Their rather uneasy, quietly-heated trade of words continued without relent. But still, the group behind them could steadily feel themselves free to breathe again, so thankful to not be hearing the terrible, wretched sound of that alarm. Everyone could truly breathe a collective sigh of relief.
