Ah, sarcasm... You'll have to forgive me if I believe that no one has any interest in this story, given that it's taken five months or so for an update request or any kind of post for that matter. Of course, there might be those invisible readers out there, but a reminder of your existence wouldn't hurt from time to time neither. Who knows, it might even motivate me!

I don't lie when I say that I actively preside over this thread, in fact, I'm on here almost every single day. I keep up-to-date with what's going on with this forum and its community, check up on threads, new and old.

Anyway, on that note, I'll oblige you. The next chapter should be up very soon, in fact, I'm well under way with the chapter following that. I might even make the argument that both chapters should be posted by the end of the month, but I'll give no guarantees. At the very least, the next chapter should be up by next week.

I'm still around, though I have not been reading lately as I'm in a rather difficult situation in real-life. I'm still unemployed, so having no source of income for several months isn't easy, but I did a two-day orientation that's paid for, so yay, I can survive another month! I've also been busy in FanFiction and Wattpad. Another reason I have not been reading, is because there's much less space available, and I don't want to post too often. If you ever put this story up in FanFiction, and it'll take quite a while as there's two steps (uploading the file, then uploading the chapter, then repeating every chapter), I can post comments more regularly.

I'm not even concerned about post limit anymore, to be frank. Pretty sure this'll cap out. So don't worry about it! Post away! I do hope your situation gets better soon, Azi. Not having a reliable source of income is stressful, to say the very least.

Anyway, as promised...

Chapter 31: King of the Whole Wide World

A swift gust rushed past them as they peered upon it, standing upon this hill to catch a glimpse. It had been a very long week, but finally their weary souls and aching legs could finally receive their reward. Their eyes rested upon the image of brittle infrastructure, traversing this meadow so washed in death that life can no longer grow here naturally.

They were centuries away from civilization that they were used to. Each of every day of these seven days had been vicious, being encircled in death and savagery. The people of Alverra were desperate, but some were simply craving violence for the sake of it. If this was the intended vision of an empire, one could only imagine just what this Silas Alverra was like.

They proceeded onward, walking across this nigh-wasteland scarred by strife. Rusted ancient blades stabbed in the ground and bits of armour littered the field. Old, battered wooden barricades enduring time, even as they were wounded by arrows and vegetation.

Trampling upon withered blades of yellowish-brown grass, the group carried on, holding a universal sensation of anxiety and pressure within them. They drew closer and closer to those tall walls of stone, feeling these emotions building like a bonfire. These towering walls looked crumbling, yet it still stood sturdily.

The middle of the afternoon, the atmosphere was dark and ashen, a downpour felt imminent. There were several walking the city walls, appearing like silhouettes. But penetrating the darkness was their glowing eyes, these Solasúian archers who batted not even an eye at the oncoming visitors.
