The pieces of his shattered blade scattered across the air, ranging from rather small shards to quite large chucks. Broken free from their forced labor, some of those pieces managed to find their way to attack their slaver. Those fairly moderate sized shards flew straight into his eyes, burrowing into them gruesomely. The Solasúian wailed out in anguish, feeling them crawling, chewing further into his eyes with each blink he committed to like cannibalistic termites.

Not distracted by the very obvious agony of the previous Solasúian, Raphael reserved his focus only for that which laid ahead of him. Closely nearby, Malik tangled with one such barbarian. He took to the defensive, holding out the strong flat of his sword. He then felt a powerful blow rock him and his blade, overwhelming him and sending him stutter-stepping backwards.

Malik's hardened vision then settled down upon this Solasúian rushing him like a raging bull, armed with a fearsome, crushing warhammer. She fixed upon Malik with a murderous glint in her eyes, ready to capitalize upon this moment of imbalance. But before she took to the swing, she was unexpectedly rammed into from her right side, the wailing of her ally rushing into her ear.

Her now-blind ally had pushed into her in his painful panic, forcing her a few steps to her left. Raphael, caught in the path of the now-stumbling Solasúian, quickly stepped aside and watched her continue to move onward. This was a rather inconvenient situation for another ally of hers, who had caught the newly pacified assassin off-guard.

After trading blows with her, Libitina's attacker caught her by the cross-guard, kicking her away and sending her staggering backwards. The perfect opportunity for an attack, one of which he launched without hesitation. Yet this would not be, for fate was about to intervene.

Malik's opponent suddenly came into the image, interfering with the whole situation. Like a domino effect, one push begetting one push, from the blinded Solasúian unto the female Solasúian, and now the female Solasúian unto Libitina. The warhammer wielding Solasúian ramming into Libitina and assuming her place, and thus, became the victim of the incoming blade.

The blade cleaved a deep, terrible path of destruction across the female Solasúian's back, a grisly wound to behold. She crumbled onto the ground, her face gripped tightly in a very vivid grimace. The attacking Solasúian stared down at his comrade whom he accidentally injured, in disbelief of what he had done.

Taking notice that this opponent was now out of commission, Raphael turned to the Solasúian still in stumbling around in the agonizing dark. The silver-haired heir then reached his right hand to a small secondary arm he had attached to his waist, a small dagger revealed. He delivered some mercy, putting that dagger into the back of blinded Solasúian's head, ending his suffering.

But suddenly, at the corner of his eye, he happened to stumble upon two other Solasúians, the final in this bag. One was awaiting an opportunity, the other hid in the back, an archer who suddenly found a clear beat on Raphael. The arrow was cast into the air, forcing Raphael to take immediate evasive action. Quickly, Raphael used the body of the blinded Solasúian as a shield.

The arrow fell from the air, plunging into the back of the Solasúian made as a makeshift, vulgar meat shield. Raphael carelessly tossed the Solasúian aside, bracing himself for the next push. And so it came, another Solasúian came for him, confident in his air support from behind. That archer readied for another shot as Raphael and his ally wrestled with each other, pulling an arrow back on his bow's string.

In the far back, Shinon watched this archer's technique, looking almost impressed. But Shinon was confident in his own skills, conceiving quite an absurd plan, wanting so greatly to show up a 'superior' Solasúian archer. While still comfortably seated upon this wooden stool, he whipped out his bow, pulled an adamantine arrow back on its string, aimed slightly high, and fired.

The missile soared through the air, a straight, speeding course. The Solasúian archer had fired his arrow, so focused on Raphael that he didn't even realize Shinon in the back. The trajectory of both his arrow and Shinon's arrow crossed, this mammoth of an arrow intercepting a puny steel arrow before it managed to hit Raphael.

But Shinon's arrow did not stop even as the Solasúian's arrow collided into it, a meager steel arrow no match for the superior adamantine. Like flicking a flee off of its shoulder, Shinon's arrow managed to hit and deflect the Solasúian's arrow while still maintaining speed. The steel arrow bouncing off of Shinon's arrow, its path now led it directly towards the only soul left that the Solasúian called an ally.

Though its course may have been changed somewhat, it still somehow sought out its target. Shinon's arrow caught the Solasúian archer in the hand, specifically his hand which held his bow. The arrow speared through his middle and index fingers and pierced even that brittle, feeble bow of his.

The archer leaped out of his skin in reaction to this sudden, sharp, completely shocking pain, quickly finding an arrow stuck in his fingers. His eyes then stared forward, and somehow, his arrow had found its way into the neck of his ally. That ally furiously fastened his teeth together, his face tensing up as his hand clenched his neck.

Bearing witness to this perfect, once-in-a-lifetime shot, the red-headed archer's face rose with the most confident smile fathomable. "Damn, am I good or am I good?" Shinon smugly commented in a bit of a laugh, almost unable to believe it himself.

The injured Solasúian archer's glowing, teal blue eyes scanned his surroundings, investigating every face in the crowd and in the group he and his comrades were targeting. His eyes then settled upon the background, finding then a human at the bar with a bow in hand, raising his glass of ale to him the moment he saw him. Shinon's face as the archer noticed him appeared victorious like that off of a pompous know-it-all.

A horrible, grotesque sound then gushed its way into the air, a sound which was followed by the sound of cheering and whistling. The glowing-eyed archer then returned his eyes onto his front, finding the hooded old man Neeson had buried his axe in the back of the head of his only comrade. He looked on in horror as the crimson dripped down onto the wooden floorboards, hearing the sickening sound of his skull crackle as Neeson retrieved his axe.

Left all alone, the archer had little option afforded to him. Without even the slightest hesitation, he began to run for it, drawing a negative reaction from the drunken crowd. Yet his frantic, shaking legs ran off far ahead of him, causing him to step horribly wrong and twist his ankle. He tripped all over himself, generating quite a lot of laughter from the people who once booed him.

Raphael watched this pitiful display carry on, teetering on a tight rope between what to do next. Lamia beside him turned to him, her curiosity quite high as to just what his intentions were. Would he spare him? Would he kill him? The question was tossed up into the air, an elusive mystery... until Raphael's legs began moving forward.

He firmly readied his sword, stepping towards an archer which had begun crawling to freedom. He spared them once, offered them a second chance. And now, now he had no intention of offering a third chance. The Neheztelian goddess Lamia peered upon a stoic, hardened Raphael, her interests piqued. He carried every intention of taking that miserable life, but then a hand suddenly reached out and grabbed him.

Such an act halted him from treading further, buying the injured archer enough time to make his escape. "Don't," the voice of Libitina solemnly beseeched, her hand the one finding Raphael. "There's been enough killing. Let him go."

"Please, no more," then suddenly pleaded Daevarro, drawing closer to the silver-haired prince.

"They're right, Raphael," the calm, wise voice of his master Malik came out, agreeing with Libitina and Daevarro. "There's no need to take his life. Just let him go."

Hearing now as even his master offered his allegiance to Libitina and Daevarro's refusal of further violence, Raphael pulled back, withdrawing all arms and urges to kill. Lamia curiously tilted her head, immediately taking note of this sudden influence, this sudden stay in Raphael. Their words like dropping a small fire into a body of water, drowning all of his murderous intentions out.

Finished with the violence, Raphael averted his gaze onto an individual not belonging to his pack. He looked for that average-looking fellow who won the shell game, yet his eyes could not locate him. He scoured the environment up and down, but he was nowhere to be seen. Quite an oddity, indeed, having completely vanished without a trace.

In the back, the bartender had to come to grips with what just transpired in his pub. He sighed heavily and placed his hand over his face, disgruntled. "Just can't go a week without someone getting killed," he mumbled to himself, so nonchalantly coming out from the back. "...Well, the crows have to eat too, I suppose."

The tender then played undertaker, going from body to body -- dead or near dead -- and slinging them over his shoulder. He accumulated a stack of four over one shoulder and began taking up more for the other, utilizing his Solasúian strength. Like the Grim Reaper himself came before him, the bartender stole the body of the lady Calvin tried desperately to save out from under him. And despite having only been rendered unconscious as a result of his own hostility, the bartender even took the operator's body.

Sighing with deep remorse, Calvin stood up off of his knees, heading off towards his allies with Kereske slow to follow. The social assassin stood now before his friends and family in black, putting out his laid-back attitude, throwing his hands behind his head. His pale blue eyes curiously pry upon Raphael, the young man's face grim and somber. "Wassup, Raphy?" Calvin asked, a tad concerned himself.

"...It's nothing," the silver-haired prince quickly dismissed, only intensifying Calvin's concerns. "We've wasted too much time here. We need to get going."

"Hold a sec," the social assassin pleaded. "Ya got the capital?"

"It's called Ardougne and it resides to the southwest," Raphael stated, briefing his allies who were unaware of this information. "If what the bartender told me is true, then it'll take a week before we get there. I don't want to waste anymore time."

"Then let us be off," Kereske responded.

"Yeah, s'pose so," Calvin agreed, but he still had some business to consider. Like Raphael, Calvin's eyes rummaged through the pub, seeking out that mysterious fellow of average descent. He had every intention of returning this pouch of gold to him, believing it not his to earn. But to his dismay, that unusual fellow had disappeared almost like a ghost, leaving not even a speck of himself behind.

After a while, Calvin gave up the search, for that fellow had clearly moved on. He looked forward, finding Raphael beginning to move on from this place himself. Yes, they had garnered far too much attention in this place, in this small, uncertain village. With the confidence and assurance of his most loyal allies at his back, Raphael stepped on ahead.

He pulled up that makeshift cloth door, his back attached with the many eyes of the drunken crowd inside. Yet reality was gradually restored there, everyone relocating their seats, everyone reengaging in their silly bar games. However, the memories of that most strangest of battles will live with them like their beating heart.

Raphael entered the outside world, basking in the cold sunlight. From the back, their ears could catch the sound of several massive, heavy thuds, the bartender having begun dumping the bodies in the back. But Raphael willfully deafened his ears to this careless, cruel act, beginning to walk down this ruined path. He callously passed by panhandlers and dirty glares, ignoring all that had no relevance to his goals.

Yet graciously, Libitina stood before those on their bloodied knees. Her face lifting with a gentle, warmhearted smile as she lightened her load upon them. Into her pocket she did reach, placing a handful of coins into their dirty, old cupped-up palms. Her act filled the hands and hearts of beggars with joy, proving to them that this world still possessed a shred of kindness.

Playing spectator to this selfless act, many of her family find more and more reason to idolize her. Calvin's face couldn't help but to brighten up, smiling upon this woman whom he treasured, a leader and a person he truly aspired to be. Telvern, on the other hand, sighed in frustration, realizing that no matter the age, the core values of a person will never change.

With nothing left to gain here, Telvern carried on his way, catching up to his nephew and his closest allies. Raphael walked decisively down this road, a road truly alike his own mind currently. A beaten path, a straight road with but one destination ahead. And it was a destination which drew his ire merely picturing its image, the situation there sounding truly terrible.

But alas, these thoughts like scratching a spot before it had even begun to itch. He knew not what this city of Ardougne would be like, only that it laid together with the fate of their rebellion. They continued to push forward, irregardless of what the outcome may be. For better or for worse, they headed off to Ardougne and to this Silas Alverra, a man who unknowingly holds the resistance's very heart.

Well, at this rate, I'm probably going to exceed the post limit! With about four chapters remaining (epilogue included), if they're anything like previous chapters... Yeah, probably going to exceed the post limit.

But HEY, you never know, right?!

...Right?

...Riiiight?

nice :)

could find a jmod or fmod to sticky the thread. then you could continue posting even past 2k.

Hate to burn a post, but did you consider posting your story to fan site or other sites like Wattpad?

I dunno if this qualifies as a thread that should get a sticky. I always imagine sticky threads as either official posts or player posts that are extremely helpful and/or informative. I don't think saving a thread because of overpopulation qualifies as either of those, so we're stuck on this sinking ship! XD

Don't worry about the post limit, pretty sure I'll head over it by the time I'm done with this story anyway! And yeah, I'm on Wattpad at least, haven't really gotten a whole there. Although I suppose I may be partially to blame for that, considering I've only really posted a couple of chapters there. I've been the middle of revising the story, but I think writing priority should go to the main story currently, not the side project of revision. Once I'm done with this story, I'll refocus on revising and will probably up posting this on FanFiction or something~

Anyway, thank you for the post, Delta. Appreciate it!
