The shadow soldiers then rushed into the fray, wielding their swords and charging in as ferocious as a bull seeing red. Going in blind, the soldiers disappeared into the fog. Though their dash was extreme, their footsteps did not emit a single ounce of sound. Their faces all so different, yet had a sort of similarity to them. Regardless, they went into a place where normally people would flee from.

Loyal Knights tangled with the humans, both were hindered by this smoke that engulfed and took control like the hands of a maker over his project. Though barely, one of the Loyal Knights could make out one of the clones coming his way. The soldier was very close by, holding his sword up with the intent to kill.

The Loyal Knight was knotted up, slashing his sword against strong reinforcement. A shield of a Lumbridge soldier was holding him back, the soldier hid behind it like a turtle. The Loyal Knight lunged his right hand forward with all of his might, clenching it into a fist as it flew towards that soldier's shield. It pounded the wooden shield, sending a shockwave all across the soldier's body.

The wooden shield was ripped apart, erupting into pieces. The human soldier stumbled backwards, shocked to find his shield now in shambles. But now he had to face another problem, his left forearm -- the arm which held his shield -- was in intense agony. He grabbed his injured arm, his teeth fastened together.

While that soldier was momentarily distracted, the Loyal Knight tended to an immediate threat: a soldier coming at him at full speed. The knight turned to his left slightly, preparing for that soldier. Once he was close, the Loyal Knight lunged his blade towards the soldier's heart. The tip of the blade found itself deathly close to the soldier's chest, but still he would yet react.

The blade pierced through the soldier's armour, chewing through it like it were paper mache. But the moment the blade touched the soldier, he disappeared into a black mist and straight into nothingness. The Loyal Knight stood there, confused, distracted. And it was a moment that the soldier with the fractured forearm couldn't watch without action.

Clenching his flanged mace, the soldier arose. He darted as fast as he could, readying his weapon. He raised his mace well over his head and slammed it downwards, aiming for the Loyal Knight's head. The thunderous blow was delivered to the distracted knight, who turned to face the attacker. But it was too late, the attack was catastrophic, denting the knight's Great Helm inward.

Like a bell, the knight's helmet rattled and swayed. Inside his helm, his face was smashed in, his skull was fractured. The Loyal Knight clenched his face, roaring, and within a fleeting moment of consciousness, feeling the intense pain. It was in this moment that the human soldier then made his next attack, bashing his mace at the crown of the knight's head. He could hear the crackling sound of the knight's skull bludgeoned.

This instance happened all over the place, Loyal Knights distracted by Daevarro's shadows and thrown off-balance. Some of them were killed, but many had the reflexes to push off what they had just witnessed and counter their attacker. Sharp outcries flooded the foggy chaos, there seemed almost no end. Some of the battle came close to Daevarro, pouring out into the courtyard.

The moment that the fog hit, Balor had covered his mouth with his left elbow. He looked around, drawing breath into his lungs. He realized something, he garnered not a problem from the fog as he withdrew air into his lungs. He pulled his arm down, attempting to find a way to combat this strange, odorless fog.

Balor shuffled his eyes, realizing that he could not make anything out in this fog. The only thing he knew he could see were some of his comrade close by, their glowing eyes enough to pierce this fog. That left the Governanti army at a slight disadvantage... So, Balor merely closed his eyes. He attuned his senses, listening very carefully, feeling the vibrations of the earth under his soles, even smelling the air.

His senses strong enough that he could taste the rancid, sickening smell of death all around him. He felt vibrations growing more and more, someone was on their way to him. The soldier then jumped out from the fog, Balor had plenty of time to prepare himself. The king gracefully stepped off behind him, seeing the glint of the blade's tip come out from the darkness. Balor had opened his eyes, seeing the soldier that attempted a take on his life.

The soldier's entire body then hopped further towards the king, swinging his blade from his upper right to his lower left. He wielded a Zweihänder, carrying it with both of his hands. Because of his sword, he appeared far more muscular and better built than his fellow soldiers. Gripping his blade with both of his hands, Balor lifted his sword upwards to block the incoming attack.

The Zweihänder pounded down against the Arbandor, a weak edge upon a strong one. The king's then moved up, the enemy's weapon getting dragged into his sword's crossguard as he pushed the tip of his sword towards the man's throat. Quickly, the tip of the king's sword found the soldier, tasting his flesh and blood.

Balor lunged his sword into the man's throat, cutting through his trachea. The black-haired lord flipped his glowing, sapphire eyes towards the soldier's face the moment his blade struck. The life drained from him, air no longer being able to despot into his lungs. Instead, it leaked out, seeping into the cruel, unforgiving world so many loathed.

He then launched his right foot forward, his armoured boot pounded against the steel skinned soldier's torso. It was hard enough to send the man to the ground, Balor's blade coming out of his neck. He hit the cobblestone hard on his back, feeling his vitality forsake his body. The king then stood there, tuning to the battle that was waged all around him.

Out of all the sounds that made up this war, he was drawn to one group of sounds in particular. Discriminating against the noises of his fellow comrades, he focused on just one... He had to make sure she was all right, that she was still thriving in this sudden and unexpected hindrance, in this dense, blinding fog.

With all of her Solasúian power put behind it, Lucia swung her blade towards the left side of a soldier's neck. Her blade effortlessly glided through the man's neck, severing the top of his spinal core. The soldier's head began to roll off of his shoulders, falling with a look of disbelief carved into it. Her blade's cut was so clean, so utter flawless, that his head could stand perfectly straight up without an angle.

His now headless body just dropped to its knees, falling to the might of the queen of the Governanti army. She then spun around, looking back now at what faced her from behind. Like Balor, she began to learn more about the situation she and her comrades were confronted with. Her glowing, pale blue irises shuffled all over the place, seeing many of her brothers from just the glow of their eyes.

"Everyone, close your eyes and use your other senses!" she shouted as loudly as she could to get the announcement out. "If an enemy is close enough to you, they can see you because of your eyes!"

Balor smirked lightly as he heard this moment, happy to know his sister was looking out for her men and that she too noticed. The Loyal Knights did as suggested, closing their eyes and using all of their senses, even if their other senses aren't nearly as sharp as those of the royal family. Some did not have to close their eyes, their eyes born without its light, without its radiant glow.

But some just stubbornly decided not to, their pride valued over their life. They had to pay, they were made to suffer for this. The clones of soldiers Daevarro had created coming into play, charging at the stubborn knights at full steam. The Loyal Knights swung their weapons at these shadows, making them disappear within the blink of an eye.

This moment was typically followed by a real human coming out from the fog and dealing a blow, sometimes one that was a mortal strike. But the clones that found the knights closing their eyes could do nothing, they charged at the knight and swung their weapon, but they would just disappear a moment later without the knights noticing them.

Still concentrating with utmost clarity and focus, the sound of her command troubled Daevarro, its words finding him like the wind. He knew exactly what that meant, thinking to himself of what it would deal out in the moments to come. "No," he frustratingly growled in thought. "If they're not looking, then my shadows have no effect. Which means..."

The moment he thought of those last two words, his right hand reaching over to his left. He wrapped his hand around his dagger, clenching onto it tightly. He was slow to pull it out, embattled. "No, that's too dangerous," he deemed, his right hand falling down. "If I go out there, I'll probably end up getting myself killed... But what can I do?"

Finding way back into the battlefield, Balor began to hear noises from his left. For a split second, the king popped open his eyes. He could barely make it out, but he saw a figure of some kind off in the distant. It appeared as though it were aiming and about to fire, in which it did. Balor appeared startled, quite off guard by this deathblow about to fall upon him that his senses did not tell him about.

Balor quickly launched his right hand up to catch this arrow, but even he wasn't fast enough to catch it. He faced that arrow, his heartbeat racing and sweat dripped faster. The arrow's tip came closer and closer, close enough to touch the bridge of his nose. But the moment it did, it vanished into a black fog and into nothingness.

Balor was utterly bewildered, unable to even begin to fathom what just happened. His sapphire blue eyes looked to see where that archer was, but he was not there anymore, as though he truly vanished into thin air. Being the one who actually conjured those noises that caused the king to open his eyes to get a better picture on, the perfect opportunity was presented to Raphael.

Although the young leader knew not what had happened, he knew he couldn't let this moment go. He couldn't waste the chance to fell his greatest enemy, so he capitalized. With swiftness, he jumped up to his feet and ran as fast as he could to Balor. As he darted towards the king, he flipped his weapon from reversed grip to a standard hold. Prepared to make his attack, Raphael drew in close to Balor.

He suddenly popped out from the fog, Balor's eyes catching him within a moment of the act. Raphael had hopped into the air, his sword far to his left. He clenched his sword with both of his hands, his right shoulder covered the lower half of his face. The young leader smelt the opportunity, ready to take it and cash it in.

But then, he felt a force ram into him with such intensity that he was thrown off course. He flew aside, being pushed away from Balor. Raphael slammed into the cobblestone several feet from the ground Balor stood upon, all of his weight crashing down upon his right shoulder. At that moment, he felt a pain that made his stomach turn.

He even heard it too, his humerus shattering in this instance. He spiraled, turning like a wheel the moment he hit the ground. From hitting the ground of his right side to ceasing motion upon his left, Raphael's body finally ceased its airtime. It took Raphael a moment to slowly rise to his knees, his mind finally grasping upon the situation.

His face turned to where he was, appearing gripped with pain. He grabbed onto his right shoulder, trying to cope with this injury. Raphael's purple eyes saw what had pushed him, what had violently smashed into him. But he didn't even need to guess who it was, because he knew without having to look. He confirmed it the second he looked back at where he was, not seeing her but her glowing pale blue eyes look down upon him.

Wielding her blade Eshenel, Lucia stood beside her brother. Raphael slowly rose to his feet, panting heavily as he tried to cope with this agony. "Elena..." the young leader mumbled.

Balor sighed a breath of relief, pushing aside that surprise and confusion brought to him by that arrow incident. "Sister," he called. "Thank you..."

"Are you all right?" she asked him, not taking her eyes off of Raphael.

"Yes," Balor confirmed. "Sister, do you know of any sorcerers in the Resistance?"

"Aside from Telvern and Daevarro, there aren't any," the queen stated. "And Telvern is presumably still locked away in a prison cell."

""Daevarro"..." the king repeated that last name she mentioned, pushing through the tangled vines of his memory to find that one particular moment when he saw Daevarro. He held it in his head, remembering the young man in a rage-filled state. "Ah, yes... That little cultist boy, the one with the Lamian girl, I believe?"

Raphael stood up to his feet, he began the process of reconfiguring himself. In this moment, he began to think of things he had to do, of things that could assist their cause. His motion drew the eyes of the siblings, waiting for Raphael to make the next move. Now, he remembered the many occasions of her protecting them, she came here now to destroy them.

As the fight escalated, as blood and limbs took a midnight flight, as the wails of pain and death from both sides howled across the air, Raphael had to think for a moment. More and more, this fight was pushing them into the courtyard in front of the castle of Lumbridge. Raphael rushed over to the gates into the castle's courtyard. "Men," the young leader shouted as loudly as he could. "retreat into the castle!"

Hearing the order given to them by their leader, the soliders acknowledge. The fog was the perfect cover, the humans darted away from their battle. And if some of them heard injured upon the floor, they threw them over their shoulder and carried them off. Once he knew that his men heard his command, Raphael followed their lead.

Hear this command, young Daevarro waited for everyone to find themselves towards the castle under the smokescreen. Once he knew, his focus was taken off of that place. The young dark-robed man darted for the double doors, knowing now he had to think over things. Breaking his concentration, Daevarro found his way to the very back of the human soldiers.

In this moment, the fog began to dissipate, everything becoming clear once more. Balor shuffled his eyes, noticing this change. "So, it was a sorcerer that conjured that fog," he confirmed. The Loyal Knights intended to ride them on the pursuit, their black-steel bodies turning to face them. The king then turned to those wanting to head straight for them. "No... let them be for now."

Gallows was among those inclined into the pursuit, turning his gaze upon his king. He began walking over to Balor, giving him a raised eyebrow. "But sire," said Gallows. "we had them on the ropes. If we let them slip out of our grasp now, they have a chance to regroup!"

"Indeed," Lucia concurred with the general. "you'd rather them regroup and strategize, brother?"

"Perhaps," frankly returned Lucia's brother, then he turned to his general, his sapphire irises bearing heavily but quite trusting upon him. "Gallows, I have a task I need you to complete."

"...I would be honored, sire,"

"Take several Loyal Knights and go around the city," Balor explained. "Burn this place to the ground, leave no trace of its existence. Slay everyone who you might find, make sure none escape this place."

"...Everyone, sir?" Gallows mumbled, appearing somewhat sorrowful of taking this task. "Even the little ones?"

"Yes," he replied to Gallows, whose eyes turn away in this instance. "Letting even a single person escape this night with their life gives a chance of this rebellion starting up again. We cannot allow that to happen."

The scar-faced general sighed, unable to understand how to feel about the task put upon him. Drakon snuck up behind them, smacking Gallows' back. He wore a dirty smirk on his face, his armour stained in the blood of the archers from above. "Come now, general," the Orderer said. "You're acting as though you would not be interested!"

"That is because I would not be," Gallows then frankly responded, wiping Drakon's smirk off of his face. This surprised everyone in the army, the siblings and the red-headed archer included. "I take no pleasure nor interest in ending the lives of others."

"Says the ruthless general given the title of "Gallows,"" Drakon returned, lightly chuckling to himself.

"Enough," Balor growled, annoying by this discussion. His eyes then shuffled to Drakon. "Orderer, pick up the task for Gallows. Take your squadron, burn the city and kill any and all that you see. The rest of us will pursue the humans, heading into the castle to meet with them."

All of the Loyal Knights -- Gallows and Drakon included -- stood up straight, clenching their left hands into a fist and putting it to the right side of their chests. "Yes, my king!" they saluted, acknowledging their orders.

Drakon turned to his men. "Let's go, men!" he yelled out to them. Drakon ran, his armour chinked as he rushed off. His men followed just behind him, readying their weapons. Balor and his sister then turned to the castle of Lumbridge, walking passed a distraught Gallows and heading into the courtyard.

Inside the castle, the soldiers pondered... perhaps even waited for their eventual death. Such angst was like a contagion, passing from person to person. Moans and cries filled this room like a cup of glass under a waterfall, an overflowing amount of anguish overwhelmed the soundscape. Some even had to get dragged in by others, some barely escaped with their lives.

Rada and the other nurses attempted as swiftly as they could to tend and treat all injures presented to them, but there were so many and there was so little time. Adil turned to the soldiers who were slightly injured or uninjured. "Grab anything you see and start putting it up to the door!" he commanded. "C'mon! We have to buy time!"
