Zaros looked down to the city, spying the huge pits of churning fire within it. "Why is there fire like that?" he asked.
Sendoa replied with a dark look, "Dis is a city built here in ancient times. The pits have always been burning, ever since the Decaphim first laid eyes upon it. It became legend that Phixior, the god of fire and judgement, dwelled in his underground palace beneath these caves, and the divine fire leaked from him. However, as the Mahjarrat moved south, we found other such caverns in the south, in the smoky plains of Acriama. The pits are now called Kaugra Mokthika, or 'the caves of demons.' It is a sign of punishment, these caves, as well as the mode itself. We Mahjarrat throw our criminals and enemies into them, and the burning fire causes them great and eternal pain."
Zaros, Azzanadra, and Sliske all craned their necks to look again into the pits, and this time they noticed the small dark specks in the raging flames. They were Mahjarrat, some dead burning corpses and others still wailing and thrashing in the bath of fire.
"Let's leave this place," Zaros said, and both the others nodded dumbly. The thought of eternal torture right in front of them was too much to bear.
"Where will you go?" asked Sendoa. "To the east is Tyssouga, the storm mountains, where the lightning will fry you within moments. And to the north is Necraeda, a valley from which no one has ever returned."
Zaros looked to Azzanadra, who kicked into advisor mode. He was used to the young Emperor requesting his guidance. "Necraeda is better for us," he decided. "At least we may be able to conquer the unknown, whereas the storms could be impossible to cross."
Zaros and Sliske nodded. "Sounds like a plan," Zaros said.
Sendoa bowed his head. "Then, my brother Mahjarrat, I bid you the best fortune on your journey. I hope you can find Tsugon and return the Khanu orbs to us."
"We'll do our best, Sendoa," Azzanadra replied.
