''That is an idea that has come to mind many a time in my travels Matt. To be honest I have tried to talk the others who had yet to go mad into creating our own city. But they all said the same and they were right. We do not have the required energy nor the materials to create another refuge for the exiled of our kind. By energy I mean we do not have enough magical energy to spare in order to infuse the materials to grow our new city and to cloak it from unwanted eyes. Even still it is a plausible idea to contemplate. As far as getting the other exiles who have not gone mad to come together.....well the main problem is finding the ones who have not gone mad. The ones that I have meet I came across by accident during my travels. There is no pattern to where exiles go after they leave the city. They practically vanish into thin air without being seen again. I have not given up on the idea of building a new refuge but it is far to difficult at this point in time.'' said Rhen as he watched his surroundings with care while keeping track of his body's stability.

~For all I know there might already be an exile refuge. I just have yet to find it because it is cloaked in the same way as our first city or it is well hidden by other means.~ Thought Rhen quietly to himself.

"Well, why don't you start with something really basic. Just cut down some trees and build wooden structures for the time being until you can.... umm... do whatever it is that you mentioned. Sure it probably isn't as good as whatever your city looks like, but it is a start and it would serve as a gathering place for other members of your kind. Then, when there are enough of you present, you could start to do that magical process you mentioned. As for finding others... well you could send out search parties once you have established yourself. Wouldn't that work?" Matt asked.

(( Well, I suppose I'll start my character off in the same ruins as the other characters, to set myself up. And, believe me, the rate of posting doesn't bother me one bit. :D ))

---------

Dark corridors spanned the entire length of the area; the details of walls being obscured by the lack of visibility. The limited space of the hallway, coupled by the lack of light, is enough to ignite prepared phobia into most individuals. Each length of space branched out into new directions ans possibilities. If one was not careful, one might easily become lost in the ruins of the city.

Reaching the end of the long, dark pathway, a cloaked shadow wearily emerged out from the hallways into a large underground plaza with connecting hallways going in seemingly countless directions. Beneath the layers of darkness, stood a young girl wandering in the darkness. While most of her figuring looked human, she carried a pair of wings and a tail, protruding out of her cloak and distorting her silhouette. Her shoulders and back were slumped down, and she walked slowly in a timid manner. She tried to peer through the darkness, as if to study the ruins for a possible path leading back to the surface, but this led to only more confusion and hopelessness. The large room was a connection of multiple corridors, with an unmistakable draft coming in practically all direction. Each corridor also held the same amount of darkness masking the contents beyond the halls. This confusion only added to the girl's state of depression. She was lost, and in no way could she escape from the dark underground ruins.

The girl took a deep breath of the cold air, and examined the area once more, until making a final conclusion. Choosing a random pathway to travel down would likely only get herself farther trapped within the endless labyrinth of the old city.

~I should have never come to Nueva,~ the girl thought to herself hopelessly. Staring at the ground, she wandered a bit before finding a collapsed pillar on the ground near one of the walls—likely originating from the ceiling. She decided to seat herself down on the cold, unfriendly stone. Her elbows rested on her knees, and her hands supported her head. She knew that she was likely the only soul inside the depths of this city, and for all she knew, she might never escape. The thought of this only made her head sink lower, and she silently sobbed underneath her hood.

Caelidorus nodded his emerald head lightly, the long, spiked length of his tail swishing back and forth in an unconscious gesture of thought*****;I could easily rally the Tempest to our cause. My position may be new, but my honor is great and our cause is just. The surrounding settlements that we do not control... well, I doubt they would join us willingly unless Nrilgroth himself came bursting out of the earth. As for here... I don't know, but I think the Seekers would work against you****;

A shrill, hair-raising screech echoed in the depths of the ruined structure, dying down into a deathly gurgle roughly half a minute later. The silence that followed seemed tense and eery before suddenly being broken by a chorus of shrieks answering throughout the city, raising the call brought about by the initiator of the shrieks.

Matt nodded*****;Alright then, lets go over our plan then. Once we find whatever it is we are looking for, we take it and head back to civilization. That should only be... what? Maybe two days right? On the way we stop by the Soulbound and quickly get a few photos. After all, I doubt that anyone would believe that a massive creature that no one knew existed is preparing to attack us unless we bring proof that such things exist first. Then, once we get back to civilization, we go our seperate ways. I'll talk to a few people that I know and see if they can help me out any. As for you, well, do what you can. If you know of a few other nations that will listen to you, then try and talk to them as well. We'll plan our next move after that because there is no way of knowing what things will be like then****;

Matt looked around when the chorus of shrieks began. "What the hell is all that? Is it something trying to attack us or is it just this place trying to break us again?" He asked

The Emperor smiled as news of the attack was relayed to him. "Good, very good. Your Emperor is most pleased. Now lets to other business. Is there anything of note throughout our nation?" He said. A minister spoke up "Well there is a protest in some of our newly annexed territory. Apparantly they are unhappy with our treatment of non-humans. They are demanding we stop the slaughter of dragons and we release the humanoids from the ghettos. What should our response be?" "Order our soldiers to fire blindly into the crowd. Use live ammo." The Emperor responded, without even giving it a thought. "Very well, my Emperor. Umm... several of our commanders also wanted to confirm our occupation policy when Glaruindem and Elmsbourg fall. What is your response?" "It will be the same as usual. Treat the human population like equals, round up any non-humans and deal with them as normal, and finally follow up on any rumours of non-humans that have escaped our notice."

Rhen drew his sword in quick reaction to the shrieks. Although without magic, Rhen would fight to protect himself and his comrades. Like before Rhen felt uneasy without his void magic to help defend himself. Rhen knew they had a mission in the ruins but the further in they went the more Rhen thought it was a bad idea.

''Forlirn.......what would be our best course of action? I know we need to find the artifact but I do not think we are well equipped enough to handle what lurks here. Then again.....no matter what gear we bring I do not think we could fend off what lies out there.....we need magic or an army.'' said Rhen said in an uneasy tone.

"Hey Rhen, be careful. Remember that you aren't in the best condition right now. You could get into trouble if you end up fighting anyone. I'm sure you are a good fighter normally, but how much can you do when you are weaker then normal? Look, if you need something else to keep your energy up or if you don't think you can handle a battle, just let me know. You're a good man and you shouldn't die down here because you were so determined to fight. You leave the fighting to Caelidorus and myself and you get out of here to build that villege for your fellow exiles, ok?" Matt asked.

With a reluctant sigh Rhen put away his blade and turned to Matt. Rhen hated feeling useless but Matt was right, he was no good to the group dead. Ever since he had lost his real limbs his fighting ability had been questioned and coupled with the fact he was running out of energy only reinforced the fact. Rhen wanted to be of help to their small band of misfits but for now he had nothing to offer.

''You are right Matt, I am no worth to this group dead. But my conscience feels as if I am not pulling my load and therefore not even a help to the group alive. I am useless here to you. Without magic I cannot fight, I can't really do anything but contemplate our position and my own existence.'' Rhen said to Matt with a heavy sigh.

(( Hmmm......I wonder.....what would the emperor think of Rhen? Would he be classified as a non-human or would their be a bit of leniency because he looks human aside from his artificial wings and arm? ))
