Forlirn nodded his aged head once before entering the imposing archway, a fairly dark corridor beyond. This passageway extended only a short distance (by dragon standards, that was) before opening into what could only be described as a courtyard of some sort. Unlike a typical courtyard, this one was topped with a massive dome decorated with a mosaic of images that appeared to have been created from precious stones. Objects that resembled scrolls crafted from some sort of shiny, stone-like substance hung from the walls and laid upon various parts of the flagstone floor. Oddly shaped stone objects rested along the walls and in the corners of the courtyard. Across from the entrance was another massive archway leading deeper into the structure; a symbol of an eye was hewn into the stone above the arch, seeming out of place with the usual designs of the ruined city*

A certain organization of dragons existed withing Neuva, one which humans typically considered underground and was known simply as the Maw. Little was known of the enigmatic organization, though it periodically broadcasted television signals, seemingly at random and from random locations throughout the dragon-inhabited wilderness. What exactly was broadcast varied widely, but the signals seemed to typically be aimed at societies where humans and dragons were known to co-inhabit. One such broadcast played, apparently in response to the human broadcast.

The broadcast began with an image of a stone floor, then about half a minute of fumbling before focusing on a red dragon. The dragon appeared to be rather angered, standing in front of a raised stone buried under a small heap of dragon corpses.
"Twenty-three we lost today to the weapons of the two-legs," the dragon spat, a puff of smoke erupting from its nostrils. "And for what? For bearing the shapes of the great ancestors, that's what! Slain for the 'sin' of being dragons! A family these ones were, seven still mere hatchlings! Mark my words, this shall only worsen until our very race has been slain! There are those of you who think you can live together with the two-legs. However, there are those of the two-legs who will murder their own to break any coexistence between us! It shall be you the humans will march against first, and they shall not hesitate to slaughter any humans who stand with you! But their death-march shan't meet with success, for our blood covers and seeps into the earth and our screams echo across her jaws. We may stand cornered and outnumbered, but the earth drinks of our blood and she shall waken from her slumber. She shall rise and once again smash our killers! For she sees and hears and remembers all, and her rage builds while her mercy dwindles! Beware, for the end is nigh!"
The broadcast abruptly ended.

As Rhen entered the rotunda of the structure he was amazed at what he saw. The murals high above, and the odd scrolls that dotted the walls and floor, all of it was a wondrous sight to Rhen. He wanted to start grabbing the scrolls right away and making note of the murals in his journal but he knew that he and the others were there for more important reasons. But Rhen decided that it couldn't hurt to ask Forlirn about taking a few of the odd scrolls for study.

''Forlirn, do you suppose that any of these scrolls might be what we are looking for? Even if they are not I don't think it would hurt to take a few for study. For who knows.....whatever they contain could be of use to us later on that and I have a personal interest in these items. After all, my people's main purpose is to seek out new knowledge.'' said Rhen as he gazed around the chamber.

Matt silently gazed at the ruined splendor of the domed room. He was unable to adequately put into words how he felt while examining the.... courtyard? It was hard to tell what it used to be exactly as there was nothing quite like it in Neuvian society. He had studied Neuvian history extensively and nothing like this ever existed anywhere in any society he knew of*

***;Heh, yeah... Look, Caelidorus.... I just want to tell you how honoured I am to have met and befriended you. If I should die today, know that you have been a very good friend and I have no regrets. Hopefully nothing happens, but I just want you to know that I care deeply about you regardless****;

The lady who was broadcasting appeared to shift uncomfortably after the broadcast had concluded. She looked away from the camera as someone off-screen handed her a piece of paper. "We.... apologize for the heretical propaganda that you likely were subjected too. We apparently have been attacked by traitors within our nation. We will do what we can to find and punish the traitors with only the most painful death. In the meantime, we intend to analyze and give our rebuttal to the absurd claims sometime within the next few hours. Fear not brothers and sisters: This will not be tolerated! Now then, on to the news of the day....."

The Emperor was less then pleased when he, along with the rest of the Imperium, heard the signals. For a moment, the Emperor stared at the giant screen covering the wall on one side of the room, saying nothing. Finally, he turned to the others and said in a remarkably calm voice. "They must be punished. Bomb them." "But we do not yet know where the signal originated from, my Emperor." A man said. "I DON'T CARE!" The Emperor shouted. He then regained his composure and continued. "I have been mocked. Spill the blood of their fellow reptiles. I care not who or where. Just do it. And Legatus, I want the attack to begin the day after tomorrow. I care not what you say or think, it will be done."

Forlirn craned his neck to the side to eye Rhen curiously before looking toward one of the fallen scrolls, the tip of his tail twitching thoughtfully. "...You're certainly welcome to investigate closer... but I believe those are tapestry scrolls. My guess is the tapestries rotted away, leaving the scrolls behind. Do try to be quick, though. I have an ominous feeling about this building..."

<I can certainly say the same of you. Despite the various incidents, this journey of ours is likely an experience that will be my fondest memory, should I survive. I do not believe this is the end, but may we meet again in death if it is****;

The cavern the signal had originated from was abandoned within the hour; such was common of the Maw and was part of why the group was notoriously difficult to track down. Many other caves were similarly abandoned, as the group tended to send messengers in advance to warn their kin of an impending broadcast. Despite their difficulties with utilizing human technologies, the dragons were far from fools, well aware their actions would likely bring retribution. However, the group believed such broadcasts would outweigh the consequences in the end, as they were grimly aware they had little hope of survival without human aid.

<Oh trust me, I have no intention of either one of us dying today or any other time while we are together. Anyway, I agree. I haven't been this happy in... well, honestly since I was a slayer. Don't get me wrong, I feel bad for what I did, but the people themselves were good people and easy to get along with. They are just misguided in their motives. I haven't felt this way since then. Now then, can you promise me something? If we survive all this and the apocalypse hasn't occurred... well, we're going to a Tavern and just living life for a night before you go back to your clan. It'll be nice for the two of us to kick back for a while and enjoy ourselves without worrying about dying or having billions of lives on our heads eh?>

In the planning room, the phone of one of the Ministers rang (each Minister had a phone that connected to their department). The Minister picked up the phone. "Yeah?" There was a pause. "Understood." He hung up the phone. The minister looked to a man in the corner of the room who was in charge of the big screen that covered a wall of the room. "Bring up the map of the uninhabited north and input these coordinates." The Minister wrote a set of coordinates on a piece of paper and handed it to the man (who had stood up to get the paper). The man returned to his desk and punched something into his keyboard. The screen changed into a giant map of the Northern portion of the main continent. A flashing red dot indicated the coordinates. "My Emperor" the Minister began. "We have traced the source of the broadcasts to this location." "Good. Minister Albrecht, have a couple of bombers destroy the source of the broadcasts." The Emperor said. "Of course, My Emperor. Will that be all?" Minister Albrecht (Commander of the Imperial Air Force) asked. "No." The Emperor scanned the map. On it were the locations of known dragon clans (indicated by a X, the size depending on how big the clan was). He pointed to a medium size clan. "Target this clan as well."

''Hmm.....based on what you have said....I am starting to think they are not worth the time. And I know what you mean Forlirn. This building is giving me an odd feeling as well. Forget about what I said and let us be about our business. The sooner we find what it is we are looking for the sooner we can leave this forsaken place and its foul creatures behind.'' said Rhen as he pondered Forlirn's words for a moment as he gave one last quick glance at the tapestry scrolls.

~It would have been a sight to see this place in its prime. Who knows what it was like here. I would have loved to have seen it but then again you cannot change the past. What once was is no more and now it lies in ruin for the rest of time.~ Rhen thought to himself as he waited for Forlirn to lead on.

Name: Diash'qurrii-Quiir'Kaachiin
Age: 58
Gender: Male
Species: Garan, Quiir'Kaachiin clan/race
Appearance: Bi-pedal, blue-grey feathered lizard with draconic wings that are also covered in feathers, an eagle's beak, three toed feet, four fingered (counting thumbs) bear-like hands, feline eyes (which are golden in color) and ears, 'dual-kneed' legs( sorta like a dog's hind leg, only with feathers and scales instead of fur
"Magic": Telekinesis(max range of 100 meters, roughly 100 yards), and numerous other minor abilities relating to low power control over fire.
Personality: cold, and unfriendly to those who are not his friends, but loyal to a fault toward his friends.
Weaponry: A Hand-and-a-half(more like a great-sword to most beings)dual-edged sword with a flamberge(wavy) edge along the first foot and a half of the sword's 5 foot blade, the blade is black except for what would appear to be arcs of electricity that play under the surface of the metal, the cross-guard is plain, the hilt is wrapped in a leather that has the texture of feathers, and the pommel is a dragon's head with a gem like a black opal in it's jaws, he also has a shield, a large kite shield emblazoned with a wolf head with a dragon's wings behind it, normaly it would have a force field projected over it's 'guarding' surface, but the crash damaged the projection unit.
Other: This may have been better under "Magic" but when in mortal danger he can release immense amounts of raw power in the form of speed a hundred fold his own for use in striking out with his blade, this ability is completely uncontrollable, and in fact he has no control over his body when it is used, because his symbiote(which is the source of his other seemingly abnormal abilities) takes over to see to the best of it's ability that he survives.
