"Oh don't get me wrong, Frilarth wouldn't hurt a fly... well he wouldn't if he didn't need to eat anyway. But I digress, Frilarth is a bit... out there. For example, he claims that the trees are talking to him among other things. If he ever says something to you that makes no sense, which is almost a guarantee, then just don't try to think about it. All you'll end up doing is giving yourself a serious headache." Matt replied.

"You forgot to mention that he thinks flaming tacos will take over the world." said Rhen with a slight chuckle. "But I have to agree with Matt. Frilarth is a good person.....er......dragon I mean. Just pay no mind to his antics and enjoy the ride. That is my best advice."
"I think we have spent enough time with introductions and getting acquainted. Shall we continue our journey to the ruins Forlirn?" said Rhen. "Also you forget.........I have as much time as I want in this world...I think I will have ample time to look over and decode your research. Well.......if we have a world to live in I will have the time I need to look over the research. If you can get me copies of your research I could get to work while we travel........after I learn your language of course."

~Okay, the flaming tacos seem quite odd.~ Taika thought. "Okay then, that is good to know." Taika turned to Forlirn. "I actually may have some interest in learning your language as well." Taika said. "That is, I may not do very well in learning it. It took me quite a while to learn English, as my first language has completely different syllables, roots, and a different alphabet."

"It makes me wonder if we might have to change our tactics slightly," Caelidorus said, seeming to be slightly lost in thought. "If destroying Nrilgroth could somehow draw this other into some sort of angry rage... well, perhaps then we'd have to somehow cut Nrilgroth of from the rest of the worlds permanently so he can no longer create trouble. Though that'd likely be just as difficult..."
"It would probably be easiest to record them with Neuvian technologies, as the majority of my records are carved into stone, thus making them not so easily replicated," Forlirn said, nodding gently. "Paper hardly lasts long enough for it to be viable recording option, after all. Keeping paper records intact for years in a cave... hrmph, that alone would take too much research to bother with. Now that I think of it, I do believe I made a few copies of the more important notes shortly after the humans invented some of the more useful copying devices, but I never got around to transcribing the full collection. By the time I thought of it again... well, then the possibility of digital records was around. Which is what I'll probably use next..."
"Judging by your shape, it would be most difficult for you to speak my language," Forlirn remarked, eying Taika with a decidedly calculating gaze. "It was made for our tongues, thus making it difficult for humanoids to speak. Though I do suppose learning to read it would be easier... if we had decided on a universal form of writing yet, that is."
"The trees due talk, I'm just the only one who listens. Though I probably shouldn't, since they're usually quite rude," Frilarth spoke up, slowly walking closer to Taika with a look of curiosity in his eyes. "Of course, I can just be rude back, but that isn't nice. Not nice at all. And I'm not white, I'm silver. I just look white because everything else around here is white, and all that white confuses your eyes."
"Your scales are reflective..." Forlirn muttered under his breath.

"As you said, that would likely be quite as hard Caelidorus. But if that is the only way that we can defeat Nrilgroth without unleashing hell in the process, then we'll have to do it. But let me play devils advocate for a second. What do we do if stopping Nrilgroth in any way, even a way that doesn't kill him, angers this other? We can't just say that we go and defeat the other since even the ancients seem to fear it." Matt replied as he walked over to Caelidorus and climbed onto his back in anticipation of taking off for the ruins.
"I could help you transcribe your records on to any Neuvian device Forlirn." Matt said. "All you will have to do is translate your writings into one of the human languages and I can make it happen. I don't believe there are any devices that support dragon writings though. There's not any reason to create such devices given the views humans have here."

"That makes sense, considering that I may have a very different breathing system than you, and I most likely use a different set of sounds in daily speech than you do. However, I would still like to learn your language, even if it proves near impossible. I have always wanted to learn a third language..." Taika said to Forlirn.
"Uh... That's nice Frilarth." Taika said, a bit surprised by his odd statement.

"Well we have to do something, don't we?" Caelidorus asked, looking over to Forlirn with a bit of impatience. "Not like we can just leave him to do whatever it is he's trying to do. If he succeeds, he'll probably change everything for the worse. Possibly kill everybody. And that's not something we can just sit back and let happen, even at the risk of this other."
"That would take far too long to be a viable option," Forlirn replied with a light chuckle. "Nay, best I find an alternative that won't take more than several years or so. I may have much time, but even my time has an end. 'Twould be better to invest that time in other pursuits."
"Well, perhaps I may be able to teach you at some point. Though it would be wise to keep in mind that many dragons take offense when others make mistakes with our language. 'Twould be a bad idea to practice with strangers unless you're certain you can speak it fluently," Forlirn said, slowly opening his large wings. "But I digress. We must be getting on with things. If you wish to travel with us, Frilarth will carry you, as Matthew earlier suggested."
Frilarth nodded a few times before laying down in the snow, his tail flicking quickly with what looked to be excitement.
"Have you ever ridden a dragon before?"

"Agreed Forlirn. We have spent precious time enough picking up our new member here. And that storm did halt our travel so we are behind enough as it is. Let us go now. Although whatever awaits us in the ruins will possibly remain there........we cannot waist any more time. For the more time we waste the more time our enemy has time to complete his plans." said Rhen as he climbed up onto Forlirn's back.
~It also means we can leave this frozen wasteland and get back to where it is a bit warmer. If I were human I might have caught what they call a cold by now.* thought Rhen as he seated himself on Forlirn's back.

((Perhaps we should timeskip to when we arrive at the ruins.))
"Of course we must do something. I for one am not going to let that demon invade our worlds and butcher our peoples. I just pray that we are not in a lose-lose situation. In that case, it would almost be better to let Nrilgroth win just so we do not delude ourselves into thinking we have won before we are defeated. But either way, we should not worry about that unless we find it to be true. Lets just focus on the ruins and on whatever it is that awaits us in there. Whatever is in there is probably bad enough for the time being." Matt replied.
"Your choice Forlirn. If you ever decide to change your mind, then just let me know. I really have no problem with helping you." Matt said.
Eventually the carriages came to a halt in front of the massive main doors leading into the palaces.
"Well, we are here." David said.
"Yes indeed." Anne replied.
The driver of the carriage opened the door and took Annes hand, escorting her out of the carriage. David got out on his own.
"Will you see to it that our belongings are brought to our rooms?" Anne asked.
"Yes M'lady." The driver replied.
"Well, now that we have that settled, shall we take a look around the city?" Anne said.
"Why not?" David replied. "I shouldn't think that our hosts would mind."
