~What to say to these odd people....~ Taika thought. Taika's ears flattened at the thought of them reacting aggressively. Her ears! She had forgotten them completely! She pulled up the hood of her cloak and grumbled a near silent greeting.

You need not worry about my other hand for I only have one arm." said Rhen as he held up his infected arm for the stranger to see, the black crystalline structures gleaming from the sun reflecting off the snow. "See.......it is alright. I will not harm you. You have my word on that."

"My associates and I have some business in the ruins not far from here. We are simple explorers and researchers mostly. The only one who isn't is our mercenary friend who came along to provide escort. The rest of us are quite harmless I assure you." said Rhen as he lowered his arm. "I have told you what we are doing here now it is your turn. I doubt one would just travel this far north in this barren tundra just to look at the sights."

"Look, our task means that we are faced with the threat of attack from anywhere. I would advise that you lose that attitude of yours or I may decide that you are a threat." In actuality, he was approaching so that he would have a better shot on Taika, believing her to be hostile.

"I travel though here quite often...due to the fact that this is nearly as far away from my once-home as I can get..." Taika said blinking slowly at Rhen. She turned to Matt, her ears flattening even further, and with her tail lashing, said "I will not harm those who do not pose a threat, but the sharp words that you just happen to spring from your mouth human are plainly disrespectful. I will not harm the 'Watcher' ,as you have called him, yet you may, if you continue to advance in such a way, be subject to my fangs and claws." Her claws naturally slid out of their sheathed position, ready to spring and attack him if he made an aggressive move. "There's an old saying that the lucky ones of my race are gifted with nine lives. I personally do not believe that to be true. There is a possibility though...that if you shot at me and hit me, I may not die instantly. " Taika said, smirking at Matt.

Matt drew his pistol and aimed it directly between Taika's eyes. "If you want to fight, then you will have to be the one who strikes first, for I have no intention of fighting. I can however, assure you that you would die a painful death if you dared to face me. Fangs and claws are nothing compared to swords and bullets. Trust me 'friend', I have killed people who are far more threatening then you are or no doubt ever have been. We need not fight, but I will not hesitate if I suspect you intend to." Matt replied, his face and tone seemingly neutral.

"Swords and bullets..." Taika said, rolling her eyes. "Do not think me idiotic enough to travel unarmed. I also have no intention of fighting you. However, if you intend to keep that ridiculous piece of metal aimed at my head, I will not go without action. And, as you have, I have killed far more menacing enemies before without much trouble. You do not realize yet, but I have at least 150 years on you, which most of I have spent training for combat against armed opponents." Taika's pupils constricted into narrow slits beneath her hood, and her tail's hairs settled. Taika sighed. "Guns. So annoying...you really thought that I would just spring on a group of armed men, and start to attack you? The only reason I would have to attack was given to me by you." Taika crossed her arms and blinked slowly.

"You're quite the fighter aren't you?" Matt said. He lowered the gun to his side though he did not place it back into it's holster. "I respect that. I agree that it would be quite stupid to attack a group of armed men. Especially when you consider that this group of armed men consists of several dragons. Yet I have found that despite being considered members of an intelligent race, people can be rather... foolish sometimes. I'm sure that the two of us could both recall a time where someone did something that no one with a brain would consider doing."

Taika said, her claws sheathing themselves, and shifting position slightly. ~What a wary one this human seems to be! I still must keep my guard up, as his gun has not yet returned to its holster.~
