The defenders' tactics remained unvaried now for the most part, simply pushing at the remaining pockets of resistance. The soldiers had a surprising level of discipline for an army with no record of actually existing, remaining organized in small squads when splitting up.
The response from the forces entrenched in the mountains was minimal, occasionally firing back in response to the attacks. It was quite low compared to the barrage the aircraft had encountered suggesting the mountain garrison did not plan on revealing its positions just yet.
Peter came to a halt in one of the well-secured areas of Glaruinem, iconic structures of the city lying as rubble behind him. A film crew began the process of setting up to record his speech; it would be broadcasted shortly after, the recording needing to be physically removed a fair distance from Glaruindem for it to actually reach anybody. Meanwhile the message of evacuation would be circulated among the citizens, hopefully in time to escape whatever was coming.

"You may simply have an unnatural interest in the void, although given your nature it might even have something to do with your creation," Umbra remarked, tail flicking lazily. "I might not know the exact details but I do know magic is typically a rather complex mixture of energies. Such can be rather chaotic... and some may be more present at one moment than another.
