I use far too many of these *smiley* things. Revision is a difficult process but I agree- it is necessary especially in a poetic sense, I will finish my entire piece before revising the same (it would seem to make sense to do so).
Have you thought perhaps presenting Sylvia Plath vs Ted Hughes on the thread? The story of their life is probably one of the most interesting stories that can be told and the difference in their poetry entangled in a midst of their relationship can show how life experience can frame the basis of their poetry.
