Maybe it was the bloodline from the baby, if that makes sense. Or it is the same situation as Zaros, the person needs to die to get it's full power and it will be back later in the story.

Thanks, everyone! Toby, technically he's not a dwarf. He has elements of both dwarves and humans. There is a more complete description of him in an upcoming section of adds, but there is a reason for his mixture of characteristics.

Also, the Colrain-Abiel thing has a reason, but it is a long time before that will be explained. Just be content in knowing that it is a unique case. Even Armadyl did not know the full story when he first came into contact with the family and said that Colrain was an Incarnation.

That being said, I'll return to the story very soon. Just give me a day or two to put my writing together, and more adds will appear! :)

Hala and Abiel dashed up the final hill and through the gateway of the city. The middle lane of the Moonclan Village was empty as the cascading rain poured down from the sky, turning the lane into a pool of mud and water. The black sky rumbled with thunder, as if in anger that they had made it to the city. As they traversed the muddy trail through the middle of town, Hala stopped, looking at a nearby building.

"This is my home," Hala said.

Abiel stopped and looked. "It's very nice," he said. "Glad we made it back!"

Hala smiled. "Do you want to come inside for a while? You could stay until the storm blows over."

Abiel shook his head. "Sorry, I can't. I have business to take care of, and then I have to get back home. My grandpa is expecting me back soon!"

"Oh, alright," Hala replied. "Thank you for helping me back."

Abiel smiled warmly. "Don't mention it! I'll see you later, Hala!" he said, taking off down the road toward the temple.

"Bye, Abiel!" Hala replied before ducking into her house to escape the rain.

Abiel continued down the road. He was smiling, even in the midst of the pouring rain. His heart fluttered as he raced through the muddy ground toward the temple at the end of the road. He was carried along by his conversation with Hala, and he felt weightless. It was rare that he was able to talk to a villager, and few of his interactions were as positive as his meeting Hala.

"She's very nice," he said to himself, looking back at her house. "Maybe I'll see her again soon."

Then, Abiel noticed that the rain was easing up. "Great!" he said happily. "My day keeps getting better!" He finally made it to the end of the village, and there was the temple before him. Releasing his spell, he opened the door and pushed his way inside.

The storm finally began to subside, and light began to peek through the dark clouds overhead. The rain had stopped, and the Lunar Isle was once again at peace. However, for the old man standing at the edge of the island, gazing off into the black clouds now racing over the ocean, there was little peace to speak of. In fact, he felt nothing but darkness and chaos raging within his soul, and he trembled at the aura that brushed against him like a breeze from the sea itself. The old mage Kaisen stood outside his home, watching the ocean.

Kaisen moved over to the headstones that sat on the ground nearby. There were three, signifying the three members of his family that lay beneath the earth there. Kaisen gazed off into the vast dark sky beyond the island, and he put one of his wrinkled hands softly on the tombstone on the right. The name Kalda was carved intricately in the rock.

"Kalda," Kaisen moaned, his green eyes still fixed on the horizon. "What do I do?"

The wind rushing from behind him caught in the tail of his cloak, making his coattails dance in the breeze. Kaisen's long white hair also whipped in the wind, but still Kaisen seemed not to notice anything but the distance he gazed into.

"I can't let him go, Kalda," he whispered, a tear forming in his eye. "I've already lost you. And Colrain, and Reila also. What's left for me besides Abiel?"

Kasien took his hand off the gravestone and drifted slowly toward the edge of the cliff. His family's graves were on the top of a point overlooking the ocean, and Kaisen was now approaching the side of the cliff, which shot steeply down toward the water.

The old mage stopped and continued looking. "But the dark energies I feel... They are massing, and I fear for our world. And I realize that he will definitely come after me. Keeping Abiel here is suicide for him."

Then, the image of the monster Casavar darkened Kaisen's memory. "If he leaves the island, he'll be at Casavar's mercy." Kaisen turned back to the graves. He was troubled by what Casavar had told him sixteen years before, about the Edicts of Guthix. "Could they really find a way around them?"

Kaisen looked back at the nearby cottage down the road inland that he called home. "I know what I must do," he said, sighing. "It's time Abiel accepted his inheritance."

----------

Abiel pushed open the door and entered the temple. He stood for a moment in the grand entrance hall, blown away by the aura of power and mystery he felt. He had been to the temple many times, but he was always in awe of the power of the temple, the endless might of the stars and mind.

"Sage Orvian!" Abiel yelled, his call resounding throughout the temple.

In answer, an old man creaked out of a nearby room. He hobbled on his wooden cane, and his old age was evident in the wrinkled bald head he bore. However, his blue eyes radiated wisdom, and they were as sharp as they had ever been in the sage's lifetime. This was the old sage Orvian, examiner of young Moonclan and good friend of Kaisen.

“My dear boy,* the sage replied, hobbling over to Abiel. “It is a pleasure to see you again.”

Abiel smiled widely. The sage looked down into the kind eyes of the boy. Abiel was a curious subject, and he never stopped drawing attention to himself. He was a mixture of human and dwarf unlike anything ever seen before. Though he had the stature of a dwarf, around four feet tall, his facial features were deeply human. The only sign of his dwarven ancestry was his height. Otherwise, he had wide green eyes, a memento of his grandfather Kaisen, and a willingness to smile like his grandmother, Kalda. Despite all his differences with the Moonclan, however, the boy had never shown the slightest bit of resentment toward them, even the ones that shunned him from the village since his birth.

“I wasn’t expecting visitors,” the sage continued. “On a day like this, I did not believe anyone would be traveling.”

“If I hadn’t had my water magic, I would be very wet right now!* Abiel said with a laugh.

“I see,* the sage replied, for it was just then that he noticed that Abiel was perfectly dry. “You mastered it then? Good work; you have truly surpassed your father in skill after all. Kaisen wasn’t bluffing when he boasted of your talents.”

Abiel smiled again, rubbing the back of his head. His hand ruffled his thick brown hair, only worsening how messy it was. The dwarf mage’s hair would never lay down; like the boy himself, it refused to fit nicely into place.

“Thanks, Sage!” Abiel replied. “Though you’re quite skilled yourself, if my grandpa wasn’t exaggerating!”

The sage chuckled. “He tends to do that, my boy. Speaking of your grandfather, what does he want? I assume he sent you to do some crazy errand.”

“Actually, he did want me to bring you a message,” Abiel replied. Then he dug deeply into his pockets, finally digging out a crumpled piece of paper. He handed it to the sage.

The old sage opened the paper, and he read it quickly. "Orvian, my old friend," he read to himself. "The times are changing, and I need to voice my concerns. I am afraid that a certain group out there is attempting to defy the Edicts of Guthix. Please tell me if you see any way to do so, and have Abiel return to me. Thank you for the help, Kaisen."

The sage looked up from the letter, and saw Abiel looking intently at him. "I presume you read this already," the sage said.

"Of course!" Abiel replied. "I wrote it! Grandpa dictated it to me because he's having trouble with his hands again."

"We don't stay young forever," Orvian said with a sigh. "So, Kaisen is seeking how to break the laws of nature? I wouldn't trust anyone but him with that information. He's not likely to misuse anything I say."

"So you do know a way?" Abiel asked, interested.
