The priest awoke in darkness so deep that even his Skotun eyes could not penetrate it. Sitting up, he tried to shake off the grogginess that comes from sleeping too long, and get his bearings. The fog surrounding his mind slowly gave way, and flashes of memory returned to him. He had been injured, close to death...
Trying to focus, he noticed that the darkness around him was thick to point where it could be felt... for a moment he had thought whoever had brought him here had placed a blanket over him. Moving his hand to his injuries, he realized they had been healed entirely... powerful magic was at work here. Either that or...
Bolting upright, his ears pricked up for any sound, and quickly focused on one... a small whispering which filled the air. Turning pale, the priest prostrated himself in reverence to the god.
A voice filled the room, seeming to come from every direction at once. “Rise, my son.” the voice said.
Still pale, the priest did as he was told, and sat waiting. He did not try to find the source of the voice, knowing such a thing would be pointless. Aither and Ananke were known for taking mortal form when talking to mortals; but Khaos, who detested anything which restrained her, and Erebos, who considered taking a form as a way to ensure mortals would draw false conclusions about himself, did not.
The priest was well aware of this, and knew that the darkness surrounding him did not conceal Erebos, it was Erebos, supreme god of all darkness.
“The warlock king has appeared in a mortal realm,” said the dark god. “You know what he seeks, do you not?*
The priest nodded, unable to speak in the presence of the god.
“Zaros believes that the warlock king will be an asset to his quest for rebirth,” continued Erebos. “This sort of belief may well be expected from those gods who turn toward the Void... As you might guess, my son, this is not the case. Therefore I am sending you to Gielinor to prop up Zaros as long as you can.”
"He appears in the Form of a Man with many Countenances; and he hath a Book in his right hand. His Office is to teach all Arts and Sciences unto any; and to declare the Secret Counsel of any one."
