Oops, wonder how that happened? Oh well, fixed now. "He appears in the Form of a Man with many Countenances; and he hath a Book in his right hand. His Office is to teach all Arts and Sciences unto any; and to declare the Secret Counsel of any one."

I guess he's given up. At least given up on me. I've had some issues lately that have kept me away. I hope this continues, but I understand if it doesn't. I just want closure about it. Knowing you'll continue or not. My vote is for continuing, and I hope you have enough pride in your work to finish it.

I can't wait for more if it does continue.

Amatsu paced. On a nearby table were the two weapons of destiny which Zaros had reclaimed.

They had been close, so very close to opening the Pandemonium Gates, then Mephos had blindsided them by sending the Tepes siblings to Gielinor. One of the siblings, Ramona, had severed a potential alliance between Zaros and the vampyres of Morytania, and Floran had first crushed the traitorous members of the cult of darkness then launched an intimidating attack on Senntisten. The attack had not been huge and it's martial damage had been relatively small. The damage to morale on the other hand, had been devastating. The Zarosians who had as of that point experienced mostly victories were routed in their god's very seat of power.

Sensing his troops wavering in their faith, Zaros had quickly decided on negotiating with Mephos. The resulting negotiations had taken two months... two months during which Zaros' enemies had regained some semblance of organization. The Zamorakians were still weak, but had managed to fortify a few key strongholds. The Saradominists were now fully organized, but seemed to be facing widely organized sabotage and assassinations, tactics that Amatsu recognized as Skotunic in nature.

Amatsu was also aware that at least one “shadow portal” a portal leading to Niflheim, had been created on Gielinor, allowing a rapid influx of Mephos' troops. He also noted (and not without bitterness) that as Mephos' forces on Gielinor increased, it seemed Zaros' trust in Amatsu decreased. He had little doubt that Mephos was feeding Zaros information about Amatsu's true intentions that Amatsu would prefer to keep secret. As such, Amatsu had been accelerating his plans forward without proper preparation. He had ordered the Godless to Gielinor early and had them building a fortress in a remote location. It wasn't ideal, but in a worst case situation...

Amatsu's thoughts were interrupted as a portion of the room simply... disappeared. It seemed as though a sliver of existence had just collapsed in on itself. Most people would have been unnerved at this occurrence, even many gods would've felt a rare chill of fear. But Amatsu actually smirked. He had been expecting something like this to occur.

Appearing in front of the anomaly Setkul looked Amatsu in the eye, and frowning slightly, tossed an armored warrior onto the ground. The warrior stood up quickly and saluted Amatsu, looking thoroughly embarrassed by his undignified entrance. Amatsu held back for a moment, thinking about how out of place the warrior looked in white armor marked by the emblem of the morning star.

“There is no need to be embarrassed,” Amatsu assured the soldier, “Traveling through the Void is a harrowing experience, even for me.” This was a lie, but one Amatsu knew would restore the soldier's spirit.

As he expected the soldier regained his full composure and kneeling before Amatsu said, “I have come as commanded, Emperor Amatsu.”

“And?” prompted Amatsu.

“We found my prediction was correct, your majesty,” said Setkul, using a mocking tone for the last two words.

Amatsu showed no sign of being affected, but waited patiently for one of them to continue.

It was the soldier who did so. “My lord,” he said, “We managed to approach the site being built by the armies of the Shadowmist... it does appear that Lord Setkul is right, the complex is designed to augment summoning.”

“So, we know Mephos intends to summon something of immense power,” said Amatsu, “However, Setkul, according to the report I have seen, the entire complex is only near the size of Varrock. There is no way he could summon something as powerful as you suggest. He might be able to get a wyrm or maybe a Principality summoned every couple of months, but nothing greater.”

“Is that so?” asked Setkul, “It seems you are presuming that he uses conventional magic.”

“As opposed to?” asked Amatsu.

“Soul magic,” replied Setkul, “What were to happen, if say, fifty Zarosians were to offer heartfelt prayers to their god, then, by the effects of death magic, have their souls enter into Animiorum Crystals and extend their full strength to complete the summoning?”

Amatsu clenched his fists and paced through the room. “Are there Animiorum Crystals in that complex?” he asked.

“There are, my lord,” said the soldier, “The cache was well hidden, and well guarded, but we were able to confirm it's presence.”

“And Zaros is going through with this?” asked Amatsu, “When the weapons are almost gathered? Why?”

“Because unbeknownst to you, Mephos tipped Zaros off to your plan of infusing Void Magicks into the weapons to guarantee that Zaros would be eliminated shortly after he returned to Gielinor,” answered Setkul.

“Certainly he would not believe the word of an enemy,” said Amatsu.

“Of course not, which is why Azzanadra has been checking for the presence of Void Magicks in the Weapons for some time now,* said Setkul, “Zaros knows you betrayed him, hell, he might even know about the fortress we're building. But he knows that as is, he can't defeat you, so he's waiting for the plan to be complete. After that, you're likely to be told that your help is no longer required and asked to leave.”

Amatsu was silent, his eyes shut as he went deep in thought. Finally, he said, “Take the Weapons we already have to the fortress. I will leave replicas of them here. It will take me a few days to prepare everything on this side. Get our troops ready.”

“For what, my lord?” asked the soldier.

“Our attack on Mephos' complex,” said Amatsu, “Yes, it is a dangerous attack, but at this stage we have no choice... if we fail, which is quite possible, then we will need to quickly open the Pandemonium Gates before the gods can take advantage of our momentary weakness.”

“It will be done,” said the soldier. He bowed once, and braced himself for a second trip through the Void.

Things are happening quickly. Seems things may be over sooner than they would have in the first version of the story. I wonder where I have been during all of this. I hope Orcris isn't a shadow of what he was in version one, I very much liked him then although I have no idea what you were planning unless it is what I myself would have done.(To your credit I believe you knew me well enough for it to be so.)

While I do want to see the story to the end I hope you don't end it for the sake of it being ended. I hope that it is given the kind of remaining story to end that it deserves.

Very glad to have you back, what was keeping you? I hope things have been quite well.
