“I don't know how much help it would be,” said Harrier, “It takes two days of forced marching to reach Stork capital from here, and you'd have to go at a slower pace, or you'd arrive too tired to fight.”
“Don't underestimate my troops, Lady Harrier,” replied Kutheostra.
In truth, Kutheostra was certain that her troops would arrive almost instantly and without walking, but she had long ago decided to keep certain secrets from Harrier, just in case, and this method was one of them.
“Dantelion, are you and your slaves done with that thing I asked you to do?” asked Amatsu, a piece of candy still in his mouth.
“My slaves are in place,” replied Dantelion, “They will destroy Kutheostra's hidden portal at the appointed time, or if they are discovered. Likewise, we have made and hidden the anti-teleportation runes around Stork capital.”
“Good,” sighed Amatsu, lying back on his sofa, “But that was impressive, wasn't it? To think Kutheostra had a teleporter linked to Stork capital, and a back up squad of mages from Mephos' ranks who could teleport the army in small groups if that failed? Ah well, I suppose that sort of thing is to be expected of the infamous Ebon Fortress Kutheostra. Good thing we checked.”
“Your lordship,* said Dantelion, “Your lunch is ready, and the Guthixians have been summoned to attend.”
“Ah, that's good news,” replied Amatsu, “How are they feeling?”
Dantelion muttered something unintelligible under his breath.
“Aw, they're still iratable?” said Amatsu, “Well, they were taken captive, so I guess that's understandable; I'll have to make it up to them. Later, Dantelion.”
