A distance from the battleground, Jayson stood in the shadows of the jungle, watching Mephos and Amatsu. The Guthixian's green tunic was torn and scabs from recent wounds were visible on his exposed flesh.
“Do you think Mephos can win?” asked Jen, also covered in scratches, but less so than the chosen of Guthix.
“By one standard, he's already lost,” replied Jayson. “That Zarosian commander is far more cunning than anyone gave him credit for... as we found out the hard way. They had won almost as soon as they started marching.”
“You know what I meant,” said Jen, “Can Mephos defeat Amatsu?”
Jayson paused. Placing his hands on his amulet, he looked as if he was straining to hear something.
“Mephos is at a disadvantage,” he finally said, “Just as that Zarosian said; he's weak from his “long sleep.” He's not near full power, and he's out of his element. Normally, his fighting incorporates calling upon the dark gods, thaumaturgy and the three schools of dark magic; illusions, shadows, and death. Right now, he's practically starved of life force, and due to being in the land of light, the dark gods will be unable to intervene, and his dark magic will be far weaker...”
Back on the battlefield, Amatsu finally broke the silence, saying, “Actually, Mephos, there's something I wanted to ask you.”
“What would that be?” asked the incubus.
“According to what I've been told on Gielinor, I've gathered that you were put in a near death experience, and your memories and spirit were split from you, making you into a weaker version of yourself,” said Amatsu, “One going by the name Liam.”
“And?” asked Mephos.
“Something has been bothering me about that story,” said Amatsu, “A ritual involving memories in crystal form, a body without memories or a heart, and a corporal soul... I know of one ritual spell that requires those components, but it's not a ritual to make someone whole, but rather a ritual of su-”
