Greater Ogrin

As Sir Charles began dishing out his orders, the three heroes that had kindly escorted him into the capital of Ogrin moved into action. Sephys Suran, bowing humbly and scuttling forth, offered the knight his own sword back. Big Bertha turned on her heel and plodded out in search of maps, whilst Captain X simply grinned, raising a sceptical eyebrow and shaking her head at the antics of the man as he flung himself back into his role of military officer.

"Og?" Repeated Gorgon the Gorgon, frowning, thinking, pondering. Then he slammed the butt of his staff against the ground, sparks flying off the bottom and water spouting out of the top. "No Og!" He yelled with unassailable decisiveness. The buzzard on his shoulder flapped upwards in dismay, before landing smugly back onto its perch of the ogre leader's shoulder, opening its beak and silently squawking at the knight.

"Ogres seen Forgotten Beast. Ogres seaway of Great Ogrin. We see them on way." Gorgon the Gorgon rose from his seat, full of purpose. It was clear that this ogre was no backseat ruler- no, he had achieved his role as Gorgon by being the greatest of all of the ogres of Ogrin. He would not simply sit back and avoid the action.

"We burn fires and make water. We shake earth and shatter sky. We cast winds, grow vines, make stone scream. Ogrin rules over all elele- all elemele- all-" Gorgon the Gorgon frowned as he contemplated how he would ever surmount this multisyllabic term, before in his great wisdom eventually settling for, "all nature!" Apparently feeling no embarrassment or shame, Gorgon the Gorgon strode up to Sir Charles and held out a fist to the knight's face.

"You're meant to bump it," Captain X informed the knight, bemused. "It's how they shake hands." Big Bertha had returned to the room with cowhide and cathide and other such implements, laying them on the floor by Sir Charles. They left much to be desired, clearly designed by simpletons. Most were made before the various ogre clans had been united under the rule of Gorgon the Gorgon, and showed little more than the surroundings of individual villages. Most showed the coordinal directions on the map, seaway (north,) woodway (east,) hillway, (west) and noway (south). One rather ambitious ogre had drawn the ogre hills as thrice the size of the rest of Engelain.

Captain X strolled forwards, removing a map from inside her coat and offering that to Sir Charles instead. The map showed the coastline to the north of the ogre hills in great detail, whilst the rest of it held scrawlings that must have been in the captain's own handwriting. Notes on the location of shanty towns, predators, forests, drawing out the vague lines of where Og and Ogrin existed, circling of the no-man's land in-between, X's to mark disputed zones. Putting a finger on the north-east side of the map, Captain X noted, "Here's our last sighting of the big bug. What now, knight?"

Annie ran with the slaves that she just freed. She saw that was being swarmed by the hags. She shot fire and swinging her sword at the hags that to make her way to freedom hoping to killed them or injured them. Then she shot water powers took out the other fires. She also shot rocks, vines and fire waves, and other diffrent powers to protect the others from attack.

Judy was happy that successful of summoning a demon. She felt so tired from doing it. She heard what Cadmus just said. She nodded and took his hand to find Soahc. She was happy that Cadmus was proud of her as he smiled at her. She smiled back.

Joric Ironfist

Joric's axe was caught mid-swing, and he immediately found himself locking blades with another hagspawn... who actually seemed surprised that a group of heroes had arrived to stop them from summoning a monstrous abomination. It almost gave Joric pause - even if they didn't know right from wrong, they had to expect that someone would eventually want to stop them.

"You keep slaves, you summon monsters..." The dwarf yelled, hooking the Hagspawn's scimitar with his axe and yanking it aside, then swinging the edge of his shield up towards her chin. "...and you wonder why we're here!?"

-----

Sir Brodus

Brodus smiled as he managed to draw the leader's attention. If he brought her down, nothing destroyed an army's morale like raising their leader from the dead and turning her against them. Cutting off the head of the snake was always effective, but having that head turn around and try to consume the rest of its body was even more so.

Tapping into his soul reserves once again, he waited until she was nearly on him. Then, he swung his blade out horizontally, creating a jagged black line of energy which surged forward to meet her charge. She would only be a few feet away from it with little time to react.

-----

Cirion

Cirion decided not to continue the debate, even if he wasn't entirely in agreement with the centaur. His trust in Arran's decision to give demigodhood to a ten year old seemed largely due to faith, as it would have been with any other God. But arguing with the centaur would only delay them further.

He was more interested in the tomb. "Very well." He said to the centaur, and briefly looked to his Hagspawn companion. "We shall move at a brisk pace."

He bent down to retrieve the weaponry he had previously discarded as a gesture of good faith. The sword slid back into its sheathe, and the wand placed back on his belt. While it was rather headstrong to dive into the first tomb they came across, it was apparently the only thing of note in the area, and they had no other leads.

Maybe it had what Soahc was searching for. In that case, he could perhaps find a way to destroy it or take it to himself. If not, maybe it had something he could use. And then his thoughts turned to the pessimistic: the tomb could be hiding an ancient evil that he would risk releasing on the world. Or he could end up making Soahc's job easier by clearing the path. Anticlimactically, it could also have nothing.

"Lead on." He said to his guide, pushing the troubled thoughts aside. They couldn't just sit and do nothing.

-----

Gorm

Gorm nodded in agreement with Karstone's assessment. Whatever caused the hole in the ground was long gone, and there was no way of knowing who or what it was. Obviously it hadn't been enough to make these ogres resolve their differences, since they had obviously killed each other. But had they done so before, during, or after the opening of the hole?

Any answers would only lie elsewhere, which is why he followed Karstone on his journey to Ogrin, occasionally glancing up at the man as they walked.

March of Darkness

By sheer numbers and weight, the centaurs' mighty hooves crushed Spirry's traps into bonemeal.

After the initial counter-charge, which was basically stupidly suicidal as there was no way Mechanical Spirry could outmatch an army of galloping centaurs by himself, even with the help of his (now-failed) traps, Kira's flames, and undead archery.

Although his body and skeleton were intertwined with mechanical parts, Mechanical's metal was red-hot, so the metal, although very hot and prevented anyone going too close, was also soft, softer than bronze, and the cold-and-solid scythes and spears dented the mechanoid's parts. To make things better, some continued a stream of encircling the demon and attacking it in all directions constantly, swarming him with curved blades and spearheads, their attacks gradually bending his metal parts inwards. It seemed that the mechanical parts were riveted into his own skeleton and bolted through muscles.

Mechanical Spirry did not like centaurs, but the beasts' indomitable charge was impressive, glorious, epic, courageous, and beautiful all at once, and all of it came crashing down upon their targeted enemies, and did so with extreme resilience and persistence.

To counter the very many weapons, Mechanical unleashed his wings and raised his tail, twirling around and around while flapping his wings, swinging his tail, and flailing his rams and legs, the movement of all these meant to block or parry incoming weapons, though depending on the acuteness of the scythe blades, the scythes would probably cut through the wings anyways.

Earlier, when the centaur charged into Spirry, the impact made him feel a little sick, and so Mechanical began regurgitating whatever flaming bile resided in his belly, boiling blood, bloody steam, and smoke flowing out his mouth, and then followed by flaming, bubbling bile, which was as sticky and gross as it was painful if it splatted onto someone.

Amidst the tornado of blades, Mechanical dove forth, attempting to tackle into the legs of one of the centaurs, and would willingly writhe up the shaft of a polearm if skewed by it, and then give the wielder a big hug, to hug to tightly, so his blazing mechanical parts would press against whatever flesh awaited him. He figured that getting up-close and over-personal with a centaur was one way to bypass the torrent of weaponry...

Spirry's Domain

Yes, indeed, he was a being with no concept of rationality or nature, a creature who swayed between extremes with little reason, sense, and understanding, a freak of un-nature.

Well, most of the Decan's personnel left quietly, but a few remained, presumably too dumbstruck to do anything. Spirry did not seem to care, and why would he, considering all his traits? He did not seem to respect Martha very much, having considered her with the arachnid equivalent of the analogy of biting off more than you can chew. He was irked that Martha left without saying anything else, as if he was expecting everyone to pay him attention. Although the once-Newborn, now-Firstborn, whose origin and reason for his arrival to this world was still somewhat a mystery, perhaps one hint lied in the magics of the Ogrin? One of the Ogres did sense the dream-taint...

The blood-fountain did not seem to notice Enrael or the two others nearby, and then one of the fleshy creature crawled to Enrael, quickly but warily, sometimes pausing mid-step, then leaned over him, wanting to give him a little lick over the face as a dog would its owner.

Obviously hurt by the remarks, Alania wept into Henry, thinking about this rather unusual event, one that swayed on what was stereotypical of a demon and its opposite. Crying was not something the demon understood, why did Alania cry over such petty (in his mind) words? What a strange day, but stranger things have surely happened. Indeed, Alania was one of the very few who could realize there was so much more to see of someone on the inside, not what out outside looked like. But she had a simple wanting: good.

Spirry stared at Alania, blood leaking out his empty eye sockets, but there was no way those were meant to be teardrops. Then, she replied with his own question. The demon let his jaw hang open, then shut it suddenly, lower teeth clicking against upper teeth. His head twitched,

“I want what every living thing fears, what every living thing awaits, and what every living thing has taken for granted.” Spirry replied angrily, audibly exhaling through his nostrils, then gnashing his teeth together with such vigour his head shook, but he could not usher what it was he wanted. Could it be, that what he wanted, was also what he feared? With a grunt, he turned around and walked away a short distance, one of the fleshy creatures crawling backwards away from him in fear, then Spirry stopped, and turned to the side.

“All of you should go, leave, and continue whatever your duties may be. Or... if you truly desire to save this world, I can lead you and your decan straight to Soahc . I know where he is.''

A Trail of Destruction is Found

As Thorek began the tale, Siera's mind was immediately drawn to how it could be recreated. Although she had never been one for telling tales, espescially now, her interpretations of such tales were always in the form of the bardic method that she knew above all else: music. Such a tale made for an excellent melody, and even if nobody knew the tale they could feel each piece of it in the song. The rise of the hero, the friendships that were formed, the invasion of the emeny, and the subsequent fall of the hero. Each piece had its own part, its own sound, and, like a tale spun from words, the one spun from music would capture the same essence, although in a different manner.

And as she put music to words in her head, the words themselves sparked a few realizations as well. The greatest was the name of the old man that she had met back before the dream: Tempora Sage. His song now made more sense to her: a man moving both forward and backward in time. Forward as he pushed forth with Arran, backwards as he blamed himself and gave up the path that had been followed. It was a sad path, but one that she understood quite well. Only the fact that she still had a chance to recover what she had lost made her own different from what his had been.

Arran, too. That name was familiar, from a few different sources. Her own research of magical history in an attempt to bring herself home had made a mention or two of the man, although as none of it had been useful she hadn't looked too much into it. The more prolific means of her knowledge about him, though, had been that girl Annie. She had proclaimed herself to be his avatar, and the priest that had shown up just before the business with Azul had also claimed to be a priest of Arran. What the connection was, Siera wasn't sure, but the fact that such things were happening at least said that Arran was still trying to do something.

She had not heard of the other names, but that wasn't truly surprising. Only Arran was really known, and only because he had been the one who led. In a group of failed heroes, few would ever be remembered. Only those that made a true mark on history would actually get their names in the songs that were sung to children, and even then it might not be anything more than a cursory gesture. Most that made their mark on the world didn't live long enough to hear it sung, anyways.

It wasn't a surprise that Soahc had done something like that, but what was concerning was that it didn't make his intentions clear. Although Siera, like the rest of her people, did not worship gods, she did not doubt that some beings who had enough power would act like them. Typically, those people had plans for everything they did, and she didn't believe that Soahc had re-entered this world just to cause trouble. It just didn't feel right, which made her suspect that something had to be happening that nobody knew about.

About to write something, although she wasn't sure if it was about the comment about Cadmus or Thorek's seeming indifference about his own life, she was interrupted by their arrival at the base of a fortress hill. Or rather, what looked like the remains of the fortress. While the wall was still intact, it looked like the front gate was not, and what was stuck in the debris was a bit strange. In fact, if she was seeing this correctly, what was stuck there was the mast of a seafaring vessel, and that made very little sense.

What made more sense, and was more what she would expect, was the smoke that was coming from within the walls. There was a massive amount of it, far too much for it to simply be from a single building, and with that much destruction it hardly seemed likely that it could be anything other than what they were trying to find.
