Annie laid on the bed in shock that she was lied to and feeling stupid that she believed Morinth. She didn't know what she was going to do now. She felt so tired and panic from everything but to scared to sleep. She needed to figure out how to get out of here. She was about to wipe tears from her eyes that when she relized that she still had her medical bracelet still on her wrist. She hoped someone would be able to track her from the medical bracelet. Now she was very happy that she didn't take that pill that Morinth had offered her. -Dances-

Although there was no indication what the keycard might be used for, X7A took it anyways. It was possible that it wasn’t even for this facility, but it was still a resource that might be able to be used in the future. It was unfortunate that nothing else was there, but it was to be expected of those that were likely nowhere up in the chain of command. Most high-security facilities only had access codes for a select few anyways, and since those select few were usually the targets it was difficult to get to them without breaking into those areas of the facilities first.

To complete the mission regardless of survival was a new directive, and one that she dismissed as unnecessary. If her death was going to happen, then the mission would not be completed, and as such the directive was needless. She would not return unless her task was done; that was, and always had been, the way this worked, and the law she abided by.

Upon landing, she saw the asari that had landed with the vehicle watching her, and took the opportunity to scan her biosignature. It mattered little that she had been noticed, although it happening so soon could possibly put the mission on a timer. Then again, unless they realized who and what she was, most people in a project such as this would not feel threatened by the appearance of a single soldier. Unfortunately, if the keycard required someone else to enter it, being noticed would likely invalidate the use. They now knew someone had been killed, and since X7A was not a project member, anyone familiar with the entire staff would know it wasn’t her card.

Nevertheless, she had to continue on. For the moment, she did not approach, instead following the progress of the scanned biosignature. She wanted to see what this asari would do before following in after her.

The disillusion was unpleasant for sure, but at least it clarified things. As for her medical bracelet, she was in an area with military-grade jamming technology, civilian equipment would not be possible to detect her. In her stress, whatever strange power she possessed began to churn again. For some reason, this power connected with her consciousness, allowing her to control it simply by using her thoughts. How did she realize this? Unknown, but it was there, for now.

As for how she could escape, there were a few ways to begin. If Annie’s fiery power was extremely hot, she could unleash a very short-range, but very powerful, torrent of blue-hot flames, to gradually melt the glass window or the ventilation cover. As a reminder, beyond the glass window, was a large chamber, an android-manufacturing facility. Amidst the robotics and machinery, all of which was automated, there was plenty of dark places to sneak around. If Annie was clever, she would be able to begin her sneaking without leaving a single indication of where she went.

X7A
She had to finish this mission, there was no other way.
The Asari she scanned simply had an “Unknown” label, suggesting that the Asari had no legal documentation of any kind on Earth, and so probably had arrived illegally. However, scans suggested a “very high” threat level.

“X7A, this is Michael. Your scanners just detected someone with a level of Biotics way off the charts. No one on Earth has Biotics that high. I don’t know what you intend to do, but I suggest extreme caution. You are expendable for this mission, but you are no use for us if you die before reaching your objective. Michael out.”

Well, the Asari did not do much, and casually walked into the warehouse, hipsway presented. The Asari did not seem to care about X7A, but considering the fact that the Asari spotted her, the Asari definitely was a witty, attentive, intelligent individual.

Annie still laid in her bed petrified but she knew she had to escape. She felt relief that no one had come into her cell yet. So she decided to explore the room to see if there was away to escape. She was still very weak from using her fire power for the first time. She saw the vent and went to the vent to inspect it and then she she went to the glass window to inspect it to make a plan of which way would be better for her escape. -Dances-

The fact that there was no legal documentation for this individual was not unexpected; in fact, it would be more surprising if they actually did have it. Most people involved in projects like this would have any kind of identification scrubbed clean so that they didn’t have an identity, as accidental risk of identification and discovery were a risk that many didn’t want to take. Of course, it meant that they wouldn’t show up as legal on any scan directed at them, but that was not usually a problem for such people, as they would have ways to move around that didn’t need to involve legal channels.

The more unexpected part was the threat level posed by this individual. For someone that looked to be in more of a “fetch-and-carry” role than anything else, having such a high biotic ability threshold was not the norm. It let X7A know that this asari was likely more than just a simple grunt, although it also opened the possibility that everyone involved with the interior workings of this facility was just as dangerous. That wasn’t a problem, but it did mean that this might be more hazardous than had been originally deducted.

Waiting for a short while, until she could see that the asari was descending into the lower levels of the facility, X7A moved, entering the warehouse through the front door. Given the assumption that advanced security systems were in place around this facility, the only way she was going to get inside in a way that did not set everything on high alert was by looking as though she belonged. Stealth wouldn’t get far, in part because stealth was not what she was specifically trained in, and so for the moment she had no recourse except to try and get inside without making this a combat zone.

If it got that way, though...well, that would probably be fine too.

She inspected the vent, it was covered by a metal lid. So far, the heat flowing through the vent was quite mild and slow. She inspected the window, it was a window, overlooking a section of the android-making facility.

X7A

Indeed, there was much more to this Asari. X7A had to proceed, following the Asari to the lower level of the warehouse, which still looked abandoned. The blue lady had worked on a terminal, opening blast doors, and rather carelessly left them open. Nevertheless, it allowed X7A to enter the underground facility, hearing the working machinery. It was quite dark down here, the lights left off, probably to minimize energy and heat output.

“X7A, Michael.” Michael’s voice radioed, though this time, the audio was lower. “I have not yet been able to get into Binary Helix’s schematics, but I am almost done. I also made an interesting discovery. This Night Wind Demon woman, her facial structure is the exact same as the unknown Asari you scanned moments ago. Whether this is a useful hint or not, I don’t know, but it’s too peculiar to be a coincidence. Alright, I’m off to finish decrypting stuff, I will be gone for a while.”

The hallway led to a series of underground rooms and more hallways, most of which were empty. Scanners detected that there was much more activity further down the underground, and since each underground floor was labeled with a letter, there would be at least twenty-seven floors. Chances are, this facility’s mainframe would be at the very bottom floor.

So far, so good. X7A was able to progress without conflict, but noticed her scanners were getting a little fuzzy sometimes. Indeed, the facility had military-grade jamming technology somewhere, so the further down she went, the more difficult it would be to rely on her scanners. Not that it would bother much, chances are, she’d be able to get along without scanners anyways. However, she could simply follow the strongest point of jamming, and possibly do something about it.

* * *

Progressing to floor B via stairway, X7A made her way down the following hallway, noticing that her scanners were a bit more static and slightly unresponsive. The jamming device was probably directly below her, probably about a dozen floors down, maybe more or less. This suggested that the jamming devices would be near the stairs of whatever floor it was at. There did not seem to be much in the way of security: no cameras, just plain concrete everywhere. X7A figured that vast thickness of concrete was meant to hide activity from the surface.

Floor B was rather quiet and empty, but the rooms here and there had a few stacked crates, spare parts, and various tools and computers here and there. She also detected a manufacturing facility of some, involving robotics and weapons, about six floors down, but it seemed to consist of various floors as well, merged with the construction design of the infrastructure.

Considering the warehouse’s association with (smuggled) military gear, the facility was certainly making combat androids. They could become a problem later in the mission, but X7A’s semi-struggling scanners did not detect any of the androids being online.

A while later, X7A neared the end of the hallway, approaching the next set of stairs. An elevator was also present a short distance down the side from the stairs. In fact, the elevator doors just opened, and a group of soldiers walked out.

They wore rather advanced combat suits, and obviously noticed X7A just as they stepped out the elevator.

“Who is that?” one of the soldiers asked.

“Oh, don’t worry,” a woman’s voice said, “she’s with me. She’s a new... project.” the voiced continued, and when the soldiers looked down to the side, they saw the Asari, who now had a cigarette. She slowly exhaled a mouthful of smoke, casually walking to the scene. She had a satisfied, creepy look on her face, the smouldering tip of her cig slightly illuminating her face.

“There are no new projects.” one soldier remarked, but the Asari clearly did not care, and simply continued smoking with a semi-seductive face, leaning against the wall. She exhaled smoke through her nostrils while slowly tilting her head back. She did seem a little crazy.

“She’s with me, you know what I do. Don’t let me tell this to Morgan.” the Asari said. With a mix of partly believing and doubting the Asari, and considering X7A’s attempt to blend in with things, and with some fear of the Asari, the soldiers continued their patrol without further ado.

Once the soldiers left, the Asari walked into the elevator, ignoring X7A, as if expecting X7A to not care about anything. The Asari was definitely a strange person. She did not alert the men of what she saw, she did not seem to care about anything, and she clearly had no loyalty for this place. What was she up to? The elevator doors would close in a few seconds.

Annie kept looking backwards at the door to make sure no one was coming in as she was inspecting the air vent and window trying to figure out which way she should escape from. She knew she had to escape from this place before her captors do something bad to her. She still felt very tired and in shock from everything that happened to her so far. So, she went into her bed to rest to get her energy back up and think which way was the safest way to escape. -Dances-
