I completed a few more tasks on the Zodi-Yak Track this afternoon. I'm currently on task #10. For this one, I'll be fishing a total of 185 swordfish and tuna. That definitely sounds better than cooking 795 pieces of food!
I looked ahead to see which skills task #11 will involve: Firemaking or Dungeoneering
Ugh. Maybe I'll just wait for the Archaeology tasks to be added after I finish task #10.

I've done a few more Zodi-Yak Track tasks since my last post.
I decided to go with Dungeoneering for task #11. I completed 4/9 dungeon floors yesterday, and I finished the remaining 5 floors this afternoon.
So now I'm working on task #12, to smelt 1,680 bars, going from an annoying task to a tedious one. I'm a little more than 1/4 of the way through, at 472/1680.
Remind me again...exactly when does the Yak Track actually become fun?

I finished smelting those 1,680 bars - steel and mithril bars, mostly. Then I moved on to task #13, to mine some stardust from a shooting star.
After searching several locations, I finally found a size 5 crashed star near the east bank in Varrock. I messaged a couple of friends about the crashed star, and one of them showed up to help. Then a few more players showed up to help as well. Unfortunately, by the time I found the star, the D&D was roughly half over. We were partway through the final layer when the shooting star D&D reset!
At least I not only finished the Yak Track task by mining some stardust, but I gathered 200 stardust to give to the next star sprite I would free, and earned a nice chunk of Mining XP too.
One of the other players got a tip there was a crashed star at the Al Kharid mine, so a group of us went there to mine it. That one was size 4 when I arrived. We broke through to rescue the star sprite, I claimed my reward, said my goodbyes, and hurried to use my double ore Mining buff to quickly gather some runite ore from the Mining Guild. I now need less than 90k XP to reach the next Mining level!
Next up is task #14, to craft/siphon 1,135 body/fire runes.
Surely, the Archaeology tasks can't be as grindy as these current Yak Track tasks...can they?

After spending some time in the RuneSpan, then making several runs to the body altar, I completed task #14. I then completed task #15 by smithing 50 sets of rune arrowheads, for a total of 3,750. I added these to my collection of rune arrowheads in the bank, for a total of 39,700. This should be plenty to complete a lot of Fletching challenges!
Task #16 will require me to mine 580 ores (coal or higher). These will be mostly luminite and runite - 240 of each - plus 100 coal. Currently, I am only 58,572 XP away from 97 Mining, so it looks like I'll be gaining that level soon!
I guess I'll be doing more Runecrafting for task #17, since the other option is Dungeoneering.

Late Sunday night, I completed task #16 (mine 580 ores) by mining runite, luminite, and coal in the Mining Guild. Since I'd mined a crashed star earlier in the evening, the double ore Mining buff was in effect while I was mining the first 120 runite ores. This got me to 4,642 XP from the next level. Then I began mining the first 120 luminite. After 38 luminite ores, I reached Mining level 97!
Two more Mining levels and I'll have my second 99!
After filling my ore box with 120 runite and luminite, I added 120 coal to it as well before returning to the Artisans' Workshop to deposit all the ores into my metal bank. Next, I went back and mined another 120 runite and luminite ores to complete the task. Later on, I went to the SW Varrock mine and got 120 mithril and 140 iron ores.
My Total Level is now 1522.
For task #17, it looks like I'll be Runecrafting another 1,135 body/fire runes. Task #18 offers a choice between Fishing and Fletching grinding. Ugh.
Bring on Archaeology! I am ready to start working on those tasks instead!

On the day Archaeology was released, I raised the skill to level 20, which is the skill cap for F2P. I also smithed a steel mattock, and put it on my tool belt. I found and restored 12 artifacts - 6 I kept, 4 I sold to the museum, 1 I donated to the museum, and 1 I sold to Soran. I also obtained and activated the only relic free players can use.
My Total Level is now 1542.
Aside from maybe solving one or two more mysteries, I suppose there isn't a lot left to accomplish in Archaeology once I complete my collection of Zarosian artifacts, as well as the collections of the museum and of Soran.
Oh well, that'll give me more time to focus on the Zodi-Yak Track, which I totally ignored on Monday. Another trip to the RuneSpan coming up. Oh yay.

I want to thank you for visiting us Aslon!
New skill is 20 easy total levels it seems?
My pleasure, Jokku! Good to see you and Anja. Oh by the way, the next day I took Hengel's bones down into the Varrock sewers and buried them there. I trust you approve of the location. Hehe.
Yes, F2P Archaeology is quite easy to cap. Just by finishing the simple tutorial, you get level 5 in this new skill. After finding and restoring a few artifacts, you should be able to access the Zarosian fort, where you'll soon reach level 20, if you haven't already done so.
Maybe Anja would like some Zarosian artifacts to decorate her house with. Then again, maybe not. Besides, with Hengel around who needs a training dummy?
Original message details are unavailable.
Good luck on Yak track if you decide to continue it
Thank you, and yes I am continuing with the Zodi-Yak Track. An update on my progress there will be coming very soon.
Also coming soon...the 2020 Easter event. I see the decorations have already appeared.

If you ever need help on another Crashed Star let me know! Hopefully it won't disappear on the last layer next time. >.<
Anyways I hope you see 99 mining soon and see you around!
Yes, that was annoying. We were so close to breaking through that final layer! If only I had discovered that star a little sooner. Ah well, at least we got to that one at Al Kharid in plenty of time. That helped me get 97 Mining shortly thereafter.
I'm going to focus on Yak Track 2 and the Easter event for now, but when things quiet down I'll get back to hunting down those crashed stars - and working on 98 Mining! I will indeed keep you in the loop. Feel free to do the same. Thanks!
