Late Christmas night, I finally finished Yak Track task #38, described in my previous post. I opted to save time by not training Woodcutting at the same time, for a change. Instead, I simply burned a lot of yew logs I'd had stored in the bank, right in front of the bank chest on the east side of Lumbridge Crater. This got me to Firemaking level 81!
Early Thursday morning, I went on to complete Yak Track task #39, which is more difficult in F2P as one of the task options - to cook fish on a campfire in Entrana - is impossible to do on free worlds because we cannot access that island. Therefore, we must either waste a skip token to complete this tier...or do the other task "option" - to perform the Panic emote at the deepest part of the F2P Wilderness (level 48). Guess which route I took.
Reaching the Wildy wall separating F2P and P2P Wilderness areas was uneventful. A wizard, a ghost, and a dragon showed some interest in me, but did not attack me. However, once I reached the end of F2P Wildy, my new wireless mouse stopped working! I was unable to move or do the emote! No, I wasn't teleblocked or bound in any way. I was simply a victim of a poor connection. After a minute or two, I got the mouse to function again, so I did the emote and ran back through the Wild. I stopped along the way to collect 5 planks, which I sold at the G.E. for 711 coins each.
Next I am doing a Mining task. That should prove to be an easy one for me.

Saturday afternoon, while killing some level 11 goblins west of Varrock, I finally obtained a rare drop which had somehow eluded me all these years: the Goblin Book!
I also completed Yak Track task #43 - to craft 1,000 body runes. Before teleporting out of the RuneSpan, I used my first skip token to bypass task #44 - the infamous Prayer/Cooking one. Buying 2,000 baby dragon/dragon bones on the G.E. did not appeal to me. Neither did making 2,250 anchovy pizzas.
Saturday night I completed Yak Track task #45 - to mine 505 runite ores. Shortly after starting this task, when I had the first 20 ores to add to my ore box, I reached Mining level 95!
My Total Level is 1508.
After depositing the last of my ore into the metal bank, I used my second skip token to avoid having to do Yak Track task #46 - which was a choice between Firemaking or Fishing. Two tedious options.
Now I have only four tiers left to do, but no more skip tokens...and I refuse to waste money on a bond. Hopefully, there will be no P2P-only nonsense hidden within these last few tasks, requiring they be skipped to make it to the end. I think I should be good. My current task, #47, is to smith 95 rune items. After that will be another Mining task. No worries!

With exactly one hour left until the new year, and the new decade, I claimed the reward for completing Yak Track task #49 - to craft 1,000 body runes. Only one task remains to be done. Tier 50 can be completed either by doing 20 Dungeoneering floors, or by Smithing 100 rune items. Naturally, I'll be doing the Smithing task, thank you very much!
Happy New Year/Decade everyone!

On Friday night, I completed task #50 to finish the Yak Track!
I smithed 7500 rune arrowheads to complete the task of making 100 rune items. Some I had made in Varrock, but most were made in the Artisans' Workshop in Falador. After I had smithed 96 of the 100 sets of arrowheads, I decided to finish the task - and the Yak Track - in style. I teleported to Varrock, where I made one set of rune arrowheads. Next, I teleported to Lumbridge, where I crossed the river to where a low-level character was fighting goblins. I grabbed nine sets of bones and buried them to complete a Prayer challenge I had started earlier in the evening in Varrock by scattering 15 sets of impious ashes at the Grand Exchange, then burying the bones of an unfortunate guard slain by another player. The player fighting the goblins said to me "Nice cape!". I said "Thank you." and dashed back across the river to smith another set of arrowheads. Then I teleported to Taverley and ran north to smith rune item #99 in Burthorpe. Finally, I teleported back to Falador and ran to the Artisans' Workshop to smith the last set of arrowheads to finish the Yak Track!
I got the Dark Throne resting animation, a medium protean pack (which I used to get 150 protean hides), and three BXP stars (which I used to get over 138,000 BXP in Smithing).
Afterwards, I took part in several balloon drops to celebrate RuneScape's 19th anniversary. So far, I've found 4 celebration cakes, 10 candles, 3 fireworks, 2 plain pizzas, 2 cabbages, a small star, and about 50,000 coins. Happy Birthday RS!

Early Wednesday morning, I completed the miniquest Benedict's World Tour, part 1. As you may know, this miniquest could not be started while using the Java client, since it was created to show off the graphics of NXT. Benedict the nearsighted yak had trouble seeing if you have an honest face in Java.
I found the 9 items scattered about the F2P area to earn the two small XP lamps and the large XP lamp. I was pleasantly surprised to discover the large lamp is able to be rubbed by free players! I used the large lamp to gain 15,920 XP in Woodcutting. The two small lamps gave me another 7,961 XP in Woodcutting. This left me a little over 1,200 XP away from the next level.
Then I teleported to Edgeville and began cutting yews. After I had chopped 8 yew logs, I had reached Woodcutting level 81!
My Total Level is 1509.
As I had emptied my backpack into my bank before cutting the yews, I went on to chop 20 more before banking the logs.

Thank you!
I have fond memories of when I first started playing RuneScape. I would run from town to town, gathering supplies wherever I could find them to stash in my bank. I had to learn which monsters I could beat, and which ones were best to avoid until I improved my stats and upgraded my gear. In those days there was no Grand Exchange, so you either made or found better armor/weapons, or you bought them from other players, from specialty shops, or from general stores. The general stores didn't have a personal inventory for each separate player as they do now. Back in the day, everyone could see every item any player sold to the store. It was often a good way to stock up on common items others would sell. On occasion, a wealthy higher-level player would sell an adamant item or even *gasp* a rune weapon or piece of armor! When you saw a prize like this suddenly appear for sale in a store, you had to be quick before someone else got it instead of you! Back then, it was common to see several players in the general store at once, especially the Varrock general store, all looking to make a profit or score some desired items. Sadly, since the G.E. came along, these stores became deserted. I still do business with them from time to time, but it's not as it once was.
A lot has changed in RS over the past 15+ years, but the most important aspect of the game has not changed: the fun. Explore the world, do everything that interests you, play at your own pace, make some friends along the way, but most importantly have fun!
Best of luck with your adventures. Happy 'Scaping!

Congratulations on 95 mining and all of your achievements to date! I look forward to keeping up with your progress.
Thank you kindly!
I posted on a thread over at General regarding aspirations for 2020. In short, my short-term goals for 2020 are:
- to raise Crafting from level 78 to 80, which will get all my F2P skills to 80 or better.
- to focus on Archaeology when that skill comes out, to reach the level cap ASAP.
I have some longer-term goals I might reach in 2020:
- to raise Mining to level 99.
- to complete Broken Home, so I can move on to do the only other F2P quest I've not yet completed: Missing Presumed Death.
- to gather 100 chronicle fragments to offer in exchange for the Of Guthix title. I have 12.
Good luck to you in your adventures in RS and on the forums!
