not recieving emails Thread is locked

so confused now an account that was linked to my jagex account has just unlinked itself and made a new jagex account this is the account "The wolfy" my login no longer works and I can only log in via the linked account i made myself while clicking around aimlessly

Although i did get a verification to my personal email yet still cant get one to my runescape email, I also cant seem to get a verification code to my runescape email, so the only think i can think to do is a full account recovery as if i forgot my email even though im looking at it since it litterally wont let me in see what happens

I've tried guessing my backup codes and now it wont let me log in with the password until i reset the password, but im not receiving that email either

Edit: nevermind computer says no



the only way im logging in now is with this linked account and cant access any of my account settings to check or change anything

Ok still waiting for a password reset link, ive added a rule to forward all emails from jagex to my personal email hopefully that will make something happen, I really dont like the idea of being locked out and only accessible via a linked account but i simply cant get in any other way as im not recieving the emails

Decided not to play now till its resolved, don't see the point in spending time on an account i could lose soon because their new jag account has failed

can you flag it so a jmod can unlink my account from this jag account so i can log in again with my username while this is being dealt with, over 15 years of gameplay and completionist and now im partially locked out because jagex made this new account system,

You're trying way too many things in quick succession, which is confusing this issue a lot - Jagex Accounts are not like RuneScape accounts, so the things you're used to doing don't work the same.

Your issue here is that you aren't receiving verification emails. However, you know that your email is correct, because it is the email that you use to login with to get to the 'pick your verification method' screen, and you have received verification emails there before. If you change your email, your Jagex Account login email changes too, so we know this is the right email.

To me, this says there is an email delivery issue between Jagex and your email provider (looks like an Outlook email from your screenshots). There is likely not much you can do except wait at that point for one end or the other to resolve it, however your account is still secure since you need an email code to log in, and no one but you has access to your email.


You won't have backup codes unless you have set up verifying via an authenticator app on your Jagex account. Those would be provided to you as a downloaded text file named "Jagex - Backup Codes.txt" and will contain 10 single use codes you can use to log in with. If you did set up an authenticator app for your Jagex Account, that should be an option on the verification screen for you, and you can use that to get into your account.

Jagex accounts cannot be recovered via the old RuneScape account recovery system , hence your last screenshot - that is coming from the old system.

Unlinking an account from a Jagex account and restoring the old credentials isn't possible either, those are permanently disabled once an account is imported to a Jagex account. Similarly, an account cannot 'unlink' itself from a Jagex account as you noted in page 2 post 1.

Hi applejuice,

I went into panic mode and just spammed the system trying to get something anything to come back and nothing, cant get an email to reset my password neither can I get an email for a verification code, I've tried every possible solution to try to make something work including adding jagex to my contacts and making all jagex emails a VIP in outlook and used various old codes and tried to guess some back up codes

Still not a clue how I linked my account but at this point its the only way I can actually log in, However with this issue going on I simply don't want to log in till I have full access to my account like I did yesterday. I Don't think the issue is on my end otherwise I would of resolved it by now, I can't even get a password reset email which I need to do before I can log in. So completely lost for what to do now, As it's a beta my only guess is something has gone wrong and for all I know there could be more out there with the same issue who has either not realised yet or locked out and can't log in to tell anyone about it

What would you suggest I do, I've already reset and repaired my email and I am receiving emails from other people as I emailed myself to see if that's the issue, I also made a small purchase and got that email confirmation, but that's about it, I simply can't receive any emails regarding my Jagex Account, Surely you can poke a jmod and ask them to look into this for me see if the issue is on their end or a bug in the system.

For now I will call it a day from runescape and attempt to send a password recovery email tomorrow and see if it actually arrives, but I will be monitoring this thread on a regular basis looking for any new suggestions or some type of response as to what I should be doing or a possible update from jagex regarding this issue. If I end up losing this account over this then I think that's the time I will finally quit for good, This account is my old friend I wont be able to play if I lost this

in regards to my temporary access of the linked account, this is something I said I would never do and at this moment it's allowing me partial access but I can only log into werewolf and noone else, I also cant log into my jag account settings to set up a different kind of authenticator so I am currently locked out of my jagex account and all my other accounts except one which I'm confused about, not sure why my linked only lets me into this particular character and how I can go about getting onto my settings or changing my password since its telling me I need to reset my password now to log in, which I still can't do as I still can't get an email from jagex

Best guess bugs in the system and it will be patched soon as said previously there could be hundreds even thousands of people out there who have the same issue and either have yet to realise or can't log in to tell you the problem has occurred

I get that, but in times like this its best to take things slowly - Jagex accounts are more secure, but they are also way less forgiving to mistakes.

So with all of this in mind:

- What makes you think you need to do a password reset? Is the Jagex Launcher telling you this?

If so, make sure you are only doing so from the link on the login screen after entering your email address, so that it goes through the Jagex Account system:



- Have you added "[email protected]" to your list of Jagex emails? That's the one Jagex Accounts use, which is different than the email addresses Jagex has used in the past. Verify emails from that account are only in your inbox, not in your Junk mail. (Late edit, I see that email is in your contacts from an earlier screenshot), but still double check the junk folder)

I know in the past, there have been times where there have been email delivery issues going to Outlook email accounts while other email providers have worked fine. Its possible that is at fault here, but no clear way of us knowing for sure. Someone I know logged into their Jagex Account a little while ago and requested an email verification to a Gmail account, and said theirs arrived fairly quickly, so we know that there are some emails still going out.

this was probably caused by me spamming the system for some type of responce



and here is my contacts, dont usually use contacts on this account as its used specifically for my runescape accounts but these 2 have been added in response to the current issue



so this is where im at now, yes i can click reset password as shown but then it goes ahead and emails me a link to click so i can change the password, this is the problem the emails arent arriving

Gotcha - yep, definitely sounds like an email delivery issue then.

Given the state the account is in now (requiring a password change), I guess my advice would be to periodically (maybe once or twice a day, at two completely different times of day) try to send a password reset request in. When the email delivery issue does get resolved, you'll likely find it to arrive fairly quickly.

I looked at Jagex's support center and there isn't any notice of known issues with emails right now, but that definitely sounds like what it is in this case.

OK I will try tomorrow morning now this entire thing has got me rattled and still unsure which end is at fault but whatever it is it's beyond my control, I've already sent myself a good 20+ password recovery emails today

I still think one morning I'm going to wake up to 100+ emails from jagex with all my missed verification codes and password recovery requests just stuck in an outbox between me and jagex, but with this issue I have lost all motivation to play so I'm going to ride this out and stay offline till I once again have full control of my accounts

As I'm coming up to the end of my annual subscription got about 6 weeks left ish I've decided to cancel it before I get locked out completely if that happens, Never got an email confirming this but I did receive a test email from my personal account to see if the email was actually picking up emails

So at least I know my email still works for everything else just not jagex the one thing the email was created for its very frustrating and worrying to only have partial access to an account created back when I was in school, now a father and employed for over 14 years
