Zero interest within this "skill."

I am very disappointed that the
"PDC - Design A Skill"
was not taken seriously. Bare in mind that Runescape is for ages 13+. Jagex provided us with a brief time frame to design a fully functional skill which holds the potential to change our game. If this doesn't spell out the problem: "Poorly written, rushed, low quality suggestions."

Argue with me, please tell me that "Herding" was going to revolutionize Oldschool for the better! I await a giggle or two. Artisan is nothing, but an excuse to add new quality of life updates for skillers.
Could we not have waited for alternate:

-Alternate EXP Options
-Clothing (whether it be cosmetic or with skilling effects)
-Resources
-Resource Areas
-Tools

As you type your furious counter argument to mine, yes, yes we could have waited for these! Refer to: "What happens if artisan doesn’t pass?"
Jagex will practically give us these updates anyways!
Even if not, surely sometime down the line new skiller related content would be polled. So please, give me one solid argument as to WHY Artisan should pass?

I've spoken to the #1 Skiller Clan in all of OSRS.
Hexis leaders are not in favor of this PDC skill
and only want a few of the content pieces, regarding the "if this doesn't pass." They also speak of the absolute mockery to Runecrafting the Base Level Runecraft gear is.

This is absolute garbage. I give zero support to this skill and hope it burns in hell at the poll. I hope a new "PDC - Design A Skill" is released, but given a much more generous time frame and realistic expectations. I hope that we get a real skill that would revolutionize Oldschool. Provide new mechanics for both skilling and combat that will progress the game. Something Artisan will not.

I've given my argument, come at me trolls.

it failed the first poll

*billy mays voice*

BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!

I don't understand why (normally) once an update fails a poll it gets forgotten about but artisan has been in the making for something like two months now with hardly an increase in support at all. My vote is, has been and always will be no.

I've already voiced my opinions to Jagex Ash and Dan, that I believe the current polling system is hindering Oldschool from growing as a game. I forget which, but one of them gave quite an interest in my quote and is willing to take it up to serious discussion if it becomes necessary. Artisan will forever stand as a landmark as to the countless hours that the staff waste, but never reap the rewards of. The community did not choose the number 75% and both the community and staff will suffer.

On topic: I do not see Artisan coming anywhere near the 70% threshold and cannot wait for this trash to be "history." May this become a lesson and an example as to why we need a new poll system. The mass majority will NEVER agree on an update unless it is absolutely crucial. Tons of great updates have failed by a mere %. Artisan wont be one of thos, but it will be one of those that the team had wasted day and night on for no reason.

Thnx u guys!

Ok, I have read a lot more of the forum debates around this skill and I am not going to vote for it after all. First, we have enough skills. I hated dungeoneering, and was turned off by the port mini game/skill , and divination. Most likely, I will resent having to level up a new skill by just doing more skilling , which I already spend an inordinate amount of time doing because I like most of it. Someone was correct in saying that this might make an interesting minigame, but we don't need new skills. We really do not need new potions that will make the old ones less desirable and we don't need new weapons and clothing with skill enhancements to change the precarious balance of the xp rates and relationships between skillers, resource gatherers, and combat players. My bank on EOC was already devalued by AT LEAST 75% due to stupid updates and if that happens again on oldschool, I will quit. There is a balance in which the combat players need skillers to provide potions, food, and other manufactured items. Skillers need the resource gatherers to manufacture their items that they sell to the combat players. Right now, it is a win-win situation (except that Nightmare Zone seriously cut into this balance). It could very easily be broken just as it was in EOC. I seriously hope that this does NOT pass. Overall it looks great - better than before. But I have a few problems, so I'm not sure if this should be the final draft.

1. Fillets: if it's 1 herb per fillet, it's a joke due to costs. Either make it so 1 herb is used for multiple fillets (their effects aren't 100% anyways. Can you tell us the rates?), or just make this like slow-burners: add herb to logs and all fillets (only fillets) cooked on it will gain the effect.

2. What is the purpose of the Teleport Rune when we already have teleport tabs? *h, I guess it's useful for saving space. However, you can have most useful teleports in your house as portals anyways, so I'm not sure if the Teleport Runes are worth 24 pure essence.... Although, I guess some teleports ARE expensive on their own (one ancient is 2 blood and 2 law)... NEVERMIND, THE PRICE IS OKAY AND I'M PERFECTLY OKAY WITH IT xD

3. On the note of fillets, can the effects be tweaked a little bit? This depends, however, on whether or not my suggestion (1.) is taken into account. If it's 1 herb per fillet, the effect needs to be better than the original potion. 1 ranarr weed makes a prayer potion (3), which yields 21 +75%prayerlevel prayer points. Since it's not 100% chance to get the fillet effect, I think this would have to be a chance to fully recover prayer points (only better than the potion beyond level 84 prayer, but this is fine because most people don't wait until their prayer is almost out to use a prayer potion). Torstols, because of super combat potions, are now expensive as well. I would have thought that the effect for the fillet would be changed to the effect of the super combat potion. PLEASE DO THIS; no one uses Zamorak Brews... Also, Zamorak Brews give prayer.... . Finally, how would the names be created? "Shark fillet (ranarr)" ?

I agree with u joy tho I am not in the #1 skilling clan I am in the #2 (Solace #1 in are hearts) and we all mainly in here (including the head leader) agree this skill is pretty bad. Tbh personally speaking for myself I don't even want a new skill in 07 just update the current ones or make a cool ques or something. This is not in the spirit of old school to add a new skill imo it would almost make me quit in fact if the game heads into the 2010 direction it seems to be going for no reason.

Thanks :) I personally think a new skill would be great, but it should be given a much more professional approach. I'm one of the few who think Oldschool should be renamed to Runescape 2. It is a community game now and should be treated as such.

Although not a terrible idea, I'll stand to say that this is not needed in osrs, I believe that some of this new content will infact devalue certain aspects of the existing game and give a disadvantage to those not interested in training it. Thank you for offering the content seperatly because some of this is genuinely very good concept... just not together as a brand new skill.

I think it's weird that Slayer is overwhelmingly popular, but the concept of Artisan is not.

I think with a reward revamp, Artisan will receive more support. Please just disregard everything the original PDC idea had in it and start over by listening to what the community would like to see in Artisan. We all know how unpopular XP boosts are, no matter how tiny it is... why even bother trying to add something like that.

I think the economy and the oldschool way of gaining XP is holy to the community. Don't ***** with it.
