What I would like to see on the new continent is a port city that is the new main trade hub. There should be a new tele-tab, a new teleport spell in the normal spell book (or in a new spell book unlocked on the new continent) and possibly other teleport options in Varrock and Falador banks that allow players to teleport directly to the centre of this massive trading complex. Since the city would be on the coast there would also be docks that would take you to the various other ports on the mainland and on the new continent itself.

In order to not split the trading community between several locations we should have a teleport option within the banks of Falador and Varrock so players may teleport easiliy from the old trading hubs to the modern one.

In the centre of the city there would be the trading post, surrounded by outliers of open land devoted to each individual skill. Each skill will be neighboring the skill that goes hand-in-hand with that particular skill. For example, Woodcutting would have the fletching area on one side and firemaking on the other, next to firemaking there would be the cooking area which would be next to the fishing area, etc.etc.

I visualize the entire trading area as a giant circle or square. The center of the circle or square is the trading post and bank. Between the trading post and the area devoted to each skill for trading there would be a bank (one bank for each side of the square plus the trading posts bank) for easy access to a player’s bank so they won’t have to run back to the trading post’s bank if they are trading within the devoted area.

(Going outward from the center you see trading post, then one of the banks, then the areas for trading.)

I hope for the trading post to be able to make trading efficient, but still have a devoted area for trading in a nice and orderly fashion (completely unlike Varrock bank) to help players who will still trade the old fashioned way to quickly find players to trade with.

Continued.

Each area would have a sign or minimap icon to tell a player which skill that individual plot is devoted to so that if they want to buy/sell something for a particular skill they should stand there and try to buy/sell from the various players. If a player is trying to buy logs and trying to sell unfinished bows at the same time they can stand in the area between woodcutting and fletching to signify they are trying to buy/sell something pertaining to both skills. There would also be a bank-sale area where players go to sell a mixture of many items across many different skills.

Dotted within the city there would be MANY different stores. Basically there would be one of every type of store within the current RuneScape (excluding stores that would be too OP, Jagex and players can decide what is considered OP) There would even be empty buildings and land for future expansion!

If players think that all stores being within the city is too OP then there are ways that could make them slightly less OP such as higher buy prices and/or lower sell prices. Another possibility is being required to do tasks for each store to be able to use that store.

-If players don’t think it is OP then we have nothing to worry about.

--This city would also be filled with other stuff that would be normally in a city such as fountains, looms, a pub, spinning wheel, a windmill outside of the city catching the wind that come in from the sea.

I think if Jagex listened to classic players they would still have 2 million online at any one time rather than 60k.

I play Old School because I want to play a version of the game exactly how it was before Jagex started breaking it in late 2007.

I think this is a bad idea, once you started adding new content it defeats the purpose of why Old School exists in the first place. Surely I'm not the only one who understands this.

They poll each and every updates that have gone through so far which requires a large majority, 75%, in order to pass. How is it "not listening to players"?

You mentioned that there are two different factions at play here, the Gnome Navy and the pirates. Perhaps this could be expanded upon with more of a backstory, told via quests

One of the quests needed to get access could go something along the lines of talking to an NPC at Tree Gnome Village / Stronghold. They believe that they've located the spot of major illegal trading, and want you to investigate.

I would love to see the underlying tension between the floating town and the mainlands be attributed to expansionist interests from the White Knights and another controlling faction on the new mainland (Spartan-like warriors?), which serves to highlight an underlying conflict between their faiths in game (Zaros floating town, Saradomin-based current mainland, and Zamorak-based new mainland).

These could create a very interesting set of quests that help to determine your alignment with the gods, which would be a neat new twist! Most players don't think much about the gods, but guiding a player into a choice that's appropriate for them could create lots of interesting quests and backstories that pit players against players in future quests.
