With Barbarian Assault being patched back in to the game earlier this week, we would like to update you on the other work that’s going on at the moment..

Firstly, Death to the Dorgeshuun - the final quest that remains disabled - is in testing and should be available with the game update next week.

On to the content poll. As soon as it finishes we’ll look at the results and get started on the changes you’ve requested. For some features this might be a fairly quick job, but for others will take a bit longer. We’ll get these in to the game as soon as we can but don’t expect it to be the very next day after the poll closes! Bigger requests may not even come out before another poll opens, but don’t worry, we’ll add them in due course.

After this poll has finished, we envisage starting another poll in a week or two, with a new list of usability and/or content features from your discussions on the forums. We’ll also keep a close eye on the “rares” discussion in the official thread and see where that takes us.

We’re seeing a trend in discussions towards an abstain option adding unnecessary complication to the poll and we tend to agree. If you don’t feel strongly enough about an issue that is being voted on, we’d urge you to think about the wider community and what others might want, even if it doesn’t affect your day to day activities.

We also wanted to respond to a frequent request from the Feedback forum. Although resizable screen mode is a popular request, unfortunately this isn’t a feature we’re going to be able to implement any time soon, as it requires a near-full rewrite of the interface systems.

Next week, Mod Pips will be giving you an update on some of the wider aspects of Old School RuneScape, including our plans for protecting game integrity and tackling bots.

In the mean time if you’ve not already voted, head on over and have your say on the future of Old School RS here .

Thanks,

Mods Ash and Nexus
Content Developers (Who were both around in 2007!)

Thank yous. :)

Now for questions:

Is it possible for the game to ever be updated so that there aren't as many dead clicks? I've noticed that I have to go EXTREMELY slow to change multiple pieces of equipment, and performing actions like sipping a potion makes it impossible to change my gear for a split second. Even when trying to do things like clean herbs, I'll end up having half or more still in unid form even though I definitely clicked on them.

I don't know if this was how things always were in 2007 (can't remember tbh) or if this is due to some kind of limitation on actions per tick like the one that was temporarily instituted last fall, but either way it would be nice if it could change. There's no reason why our clicks shouldn't register.

Edit: Also, offering hotkeys that mimic those available on the EoC would be a nice change as well. I know I can achieve the same result by re-mapping my keyboard, but that gets in the way of other things and meh.

xo

I've had a chat with the engine team. In the EoC beta, the permitted number of clicks per second was indeed throttled down, and set too low. It got raised again, probably before the full launch of EoC. However, RS2007 never got any of that. They say you should be limited only by your network buffer, which is a pretty big limit.

They suggested that if you're clicking through an inventory full of herbs at high speed, you'd better be careful to keep your mouse still, otherwise the client will think you're going into drag mode, and won't send the click. (RuneScape's inventory code worked differently in 2007 to how it did in more recent years. I rewrote it in 2009.) The inventory is also pretty paranoid about race conditions; if you click on a slot while the client's got outdated info about what's in the slot, the server will ignore the click. I'm afraid that's all we got for now.

Thanks for keeping us in the loop about whats happening. :)

One thing I'd love to see though is right clicking on equipped jewellery to teleport to locations, rather than operate and then clicking the location.

It would make it so much easier for rcing.

And yeah, I know I should post this in the feedback section. :x

Oh alright, thank ya. Good to at least know that it's possible & I'm just spoiled from post-2009 inventory mechanics. Testing it out now with those things in mind and getting better results already.

Going to have to read up on what a race condition is, tho.

Anyways, really appreciated the in-depth response. Happy friday etc.

What kinds of things do you have planned and are doing to stop player hosts and gambling

Mod Pips will be talking about gambling next week too. I'm looking forward to seeing what he says about it.
