Are you aware of the severe input lag which is being reported by many players since the last update (can be reproduced by holding down a key on your keyboard, say CTRL, for a short period of time and clicking anywhere ingame)?

Thanks, that's exactly the info we needed to track it down. I've sent a request to the engine guy to investigate.

"Regarding the F2p worlds, I've seen various incorrect assumptions about what this feature would actually mean, so it might be worth re-asking the question in a future poll with a better description. It wouldn't necessarily get a different response, though, since some of the concerns are plausible."

In response to that, Mod Ash, I have went through a few (very limited) number of posts, and that is the biggest reason people are voting now. They believe F2P worlds will bring in a wave of bots to 07 Runescape, and that will cause it to go downhill. It's frustrating to people, such as myself, who want to F2P PK & have clan fights because they simply don't understand that the outcome of this poll will not affect the botting population.

Also, I have seen a lot of votes for people claiming that either they don't PK so they have decided they are voting no for it. It's unfortunate that the majority of people won't get something that we shouldn't of had to vote for in the first place because people think about themselves, and not about the community as a whole.

Wow, where to start?!

Thank you for so much information contained in this thread! It is really great to see you guys going into more detail in responding to questions coming at you in a rapid-fire way!

About the abstain option:

"A pure Yes/No vote isn't subject to reinterpretation."

A pure yes or no just makes so much more sense. I do like that you are encouraging the consideration of the rest of the community on items that each person may not care so much about either way. When voting I did exactly that.. considering what I had noticed many other players hoping for (the f2p for example).

I also see nothing wrong with adding the things that don't pass, to a later poll.

I see potential problems (and a multitude of complaints) if you allow those who choose to abstain from specific questions to be counted in either direction (if they don't care enough about the issue to vote in either direction, abstaining should simply *** count at all).

I don't believe those who have voted -no- are all uninformed. I believe it's a "side-effect" of the insults flying in the forums.. the results of which were predictable. This community will have to come together.. work together.. communicate with each other.. if these things are to be approved by 75%. Compromises will have to be made.. civil discussion will be necessitated by one's desire to have that item (any item) reach approval. I see that as a positive thing. It will mean that those who are flinging insults in every post, will need to rethink their approach to those who disagree.

Everyone will learn "diplomacy"... over time (and it will take time!).

Length of the vote:

I really don't see a problem with a vote that lasts 7 days. It allows for (nearly) everyone to have a chance to vote (this should be a goal). This game has people from all over the world and all walks of life and not everyone can play every day.

Please don't shorten voting time. A full week is perfect!

Hey Mod Ash!

You've been one of my favourite jmods since I began playing this game in 2004. It's amazing seeing you back to developing a game that isn't spoiled by microtransactions and other controversial changes many didn't support . I know for a fact you love this game and will only do what's best for it.

Personally i'm a little worried about the polling. It's pretty clear the community isn't ready to handle the concept of accepting and rejecting content. F2P worlds with the intention of PKing would take very little work, would give a large number of items a market, and return to us something that was a part of the game in 2007 still has way more no votes than it should.

I feel like the community will never be able to agree on actual content if we can barely manage the amount needed for something that was there in 2007. Are you happy with the current poll system?

@Mod Ash

I am no supporter of adding any major content past what's already in the game as I strongly believe that anything from RS2 Beta upto the point where the wilderness was removed in 2007 is what defines oldschool whereas all subsequent updates are classed as Modern Runescape. The retro game is not a replacement for the main game. However, I do understand that minor conveniences are needed to make the game function smoothly, including a few quests here and there to keep the game fresh. So in light of that, I assume that a portion of one of you recent posts reassures the boundaries of 2007Scape:

We don't have archived code for updates after August 2007 until quite recently. So that severely limits what sort of "ones from oldschool" we can offer.

Would you say that larger content updates such as God wars, Stealing Creation, Fist of Guthix, Clan Wars, Bounty Hunter, Clan Chats from the Clan Camp update etc won't be included any time soon / not included at all or even polled for?

On topic, I believe that an abstain option is needed for people who actually don't know what's right or wrong as a choice for something. They could very well vote for something in an arbitrary manner resulting in inaccurate results. Abstained votes would be the same as a skip option and they would be excluded from the total yes/no votes for that question. So the percentage distribution would be between the votes that actually show a yes or no. That would reflect a more accurate result of polls.

Lastly, I enjoy reading your detailed replies Mod Ash and I commend you for maintaining an open minded and high level interaction with the players community so far. Keep up the good work :)

The biggest problem with voting on the 'f2p question' at the moment seems to be mistaken ideas about what those servers are and in what implementing those servers would entail.

Maybe we need a little 'pre-poll' time here on forums or some such to get as much background information as possible on the questions laid out, discussions had, and informed decisions made, BEFORE we are allowed to hit those yes/no buttons.

Mod Nexus, i see u mentioned how players should think about voting even if it doesn't affect them. I think this goes for the f2p worlds... about 30% seem to vote no, but realistically if they don't want the f2p worlds, then they simply just dont have to log into them.... if 70% of the population of runescape would love to have f2p worlds, why not just include them, it doesn't affect the people who dont want it AT ALL.

It's all very encouraging from what I saw so far. Suspect it's much simpler and enjoyable working in a smaller team.

The only comment I can make is I am not entirely sure 75% is the right percentage that should be required. Maybe we as a community can revisit that point at a later stage, my own personal view is more along 60-70%.

Edit: Oh and we could probably do without 6-8 servers.
