I understand that you need a way to make new item tiers of weaponry and armor, but you’re going about this the wrong way in my opinion. Let me explain-

As new monsters or bosses are added to the game, with them likely comes new best in slot gear, weapons, armor etc. This fact inherently makes older pvm content easier for example giant mole, daganoth kings, godwars dungeon much easier. This is a side effect of game growth and expansion. Older bosses will be easier to kill with newer weaponry. Twisted bow decimates mole, prime, and zilyana.

I propose that you think about different opportunities to nerf the blowpipe since you wont listen to community about polling.

What about making new zulrah unique darts for the blowpipe? Players could still use bronze to dragon but these new attachment to darts could be added to any tier of metal dart and would render the dart untradeable similar to cannonballs with granite dust?

What about adding a new type of monster defence and weakness? This would open a whole new world of combat items while making some items best in slot for some bosses and not so great at others?

What if you made the blowpipe only use one type of dart droppable by zulrah and create a brand new weapon from higher level content in the future that uses the metal darts? This would control the dps output from the blowpipe.


As an iron who just got their blowpipe this month with over 2000 hours playtime... this hurts. I need my blowpipe to go to raids, do hydra to get my claw etc.

I was using the rune crossbow with ruby bolts at hydra until now and my kill counts were 4-5 mins. Now i have blowpipe and my kills are 2-3 min range. This will increase the length of my hydra grind significantly....

I really dont understand why youre so adamant about changing the stats of our favorite items when you have still not fixed the botting and gold farming issues!!! Botting and gold farming are destroying this game!!!

Really nobody asked for a d hide and bp nerf. Pvp is nearly dead anyways and it's way too difficult to get in without previous experience. The game's health will be determined by your current playerbase. Pissing lots of people of here. Maybe start by adding other range weapons/buffing and then rebalance or just leave it as is...

Its nice to see that jagex actually looks at the posts from players because we cant always get our point across in game, oh wait my mistake we have that system and its called polls. Even after thinking about this for nearly a week im still certain i will be cancelling my membership because we pay we say is something that no longer exists in this game. Even with your revised changes when i use blowpipe after the changes with dragon darts its will be less dps than im getting now with mith. Still an absolute joke.

I'm actually pretty happy with the updates. It never really made sense to me that d'hide was objectively better in almost every way than Karils', and the blowpipe was definitely overpowered. I'm hopeful that the crystal bow or the armadyl crossbow or something new will have a chance to shine in ranged combat.

Speaking of the DPS calculations ... how were the ruby bolt specs implemented into these calculations? The DPS calculator I wrote matched all of the values shown in the post except for the ones involving ruby dragon bolts, so I know there is something I'm missing :/

Hello,

I'm not happy about the proposed bp changes but im okay with it. I just wish it retained its dps in the inferno, would it be possible to charge it with lava scales and make it only usable in the inferno?

In all honesty, I'd rather see power creap come into the game with new content rather than existing items being nerfed. But I understand that I'm just one person and that the community feels differently. I also feel as tho the bp nerf should be held until new content (raids 3?) is released to help fill in the gaps

In regards to the dragonhide armor nerfs, again they all look good except for applying the nerfs to blessed dragonhide. The main arguments for nerfing normally black dragonhide is that it too powerful for how easy it is to obtain and I 100% agree with that. However, blessed dragonhide is significantly harder to obtain and in general is significantly more expensive.

I don't like the proposed changes to the dinh's, then again most of my pvp encounters I have been on the defending side and running away. In pvp there are always going to be people who just want to try to tank stuff and run away, I don't feel like that is the main issue with the dhins, as the pker has a strong advantage against a person who isnt fighting back. I feel the main issue arises with it when 2 pkers are fighting, one of them starts losing so they equip the dhins and start to run away, stealing the loot the other person has earned by being a better pker. I feel that a good response to this would be to make the dhins drain run energy significantly faster, as this would force ppl to either chose more def or more invy space for more food/supplies.

PS, all of these changes would effect gameplay and therefor should probably be polled.
I understand that most if not all will not pass the poll, but maybe don't make changes the general community doesn't want?

Please reconsider the Bulwark nerf. It is as rare a COX reward as Dragon Claws, and you see how low its cost already is due to its lack of usefulness. To do this, it will be just a junk drop from COX. Why create dead content?

Yeah, let's focus on this and tweak existing content and the issue of bots/goldfarmers, before we change the meta for more new content. I, personally, prefer a well-tweaked current meta over a treadmill of new content/metas.

I can see people's concerns, but I think the balances are generally a good thing and leaves room for future updates. Taking these concerns mainly tells me that doing it right is a high priority.

For the "upgraded" basilisk knights, I think that a good alternative would be a harder Jormungand fight. Make it more of a boss encounter. It could be done kind of like the difference between pre and post Dragon Slayer II Vorkath. Just bump its stats, maybe add another mechanic that makes you move around the room more (like make it so you have more time to turn around, but you have to get further away). This could give re-playability to a quest boss that doesn't work well at NMZ. Would be a cool additional boss fight that probably wouldn't require extreme amounts of developer time since you already have it and already have the precedent to do this with Vorkath. Just come up with a drop table and put the jaw as a 1/256 on task or something.
