Definitely an integrity change. Stuff like this is what brings people that left back to the game. All of these changes are necessary for the overall health of the game imo.
Also it was an excellent move to poll something like this NOT in-game. There are tons of veteran players that quit the game for various reasons that are willing to come back if certain changes are made, but if you only poll in-game they don't have a voice and the game will continue to go in whatever direction it's currently going in.
Honestly RS3 handles powercreep in a very good way for the most part, and it's downfall in popularity was mostly from graphics, combat system, and MTX changes.
I'd love to see methods of powercreep introduced to OSRS that
aren't solely acquired through combat
Examples:
- Being able to make your own high but not top tier armor/weapons with high skilling levels (i.e. like Player Owned Ports, definitely outclassed by t90-95 gear, but still very respectable)
- Higher tier potions
- New skills that impact combat (i.e. summoning, invention, archaeology)
- New prayers/spells from quests (i.e. Ancient Curses, Seren Spells, etc)
The only thing powercreep detracts from the game is making current endgame more accessible, and the obvious solution is one that should be happening anyway, which is just adding new content that moves the goalpost further to compensate.
Don't try to act like the current playerbase wants the game to remain unchanged because the current endgame is almost entirely comprised of new gear and new raids/bosses.
