I have a question regarding the desktop application for this. I used the latest stable version (ver 3.0.21) and I used Google authentication (in WinAuth) to use the QR code. This all worked fine and I am able to login on Oldschool again (after it asked for a code which Winauth gave me). So I think it's setup correctly for this computer but I don't understand how it works from here.

What if my current computer doesn't work anymore? How does it work when I want to login from another computer?

You can disable the authenticator - From the FAQ

If you are trying to login from a new PC but do not have your device with you, simply click on the ‘disable authenticator’ link on screen and an email will be sent to your registered email containing a link to disable the authenticator. With the authenticator disabled, you’ll be able to access your account, but we strongly recommend that you re-enable the authenticator when you get your device back.

So people without a smartphone are pretty much stuffed?

There is a desktop app that you can use. If a hacker gets my account couldn't they just use this app or the mobile app and let themselves on my account without my say so? Never used this so I don't know, but usually other places require your mobile number like google, hotma!l etc.

Never used Jag and probably not gonna use this since I'm not dumb and never been hacked but I just don't see how this is better than JAG?

Edit: Looks like you kind of just answered my question above, but you said if you lose access to your device you would have to disable it via your set email.. Again.. how is this better than Jag? its the same just with additional steps for no reason.

So in order for me to be able to use this update I have to run out and either buy a second computer or a smartphone? Hardly seems fair. Especially since I don't have the resources to do either. I wonder how many others are in the same boat as me?

Seriously. This is obviously a temporary solution for the time being, and if not - too bad too sad? It's not unfair at all. Maybe you should go complain to the companies who sell all of the other things you can't afford about the advantages their products give the consumers. Grow up please.

Well excuse me for not being fabulously wealthy. While you may not agree, to me it is unfair to be unable to use this update just because I don't have the resources to acquire the needed items.

If this is a temporary fix, you would think it would say that somewhere and if it does I haven't seen it yet. And yes I have read this entire thread.

Yes its unfortunate that I am, and probably many of other players, are in the situation where they are working with limited funds. But to be told to grow up when we bring up the topic is rather obnoxious on your part.

Ive set up the authenticator and now it wont let me log in, i enter the number from my authenticator app and it brings me back to the login screen

This for me too.
Nice update, but please make sure it works before rolling it out.

Tyvm for not adding JAG, I set JAG up awhile ago to prevent myself from ever logging into EoC (god awful idea but w/e it's done.) So if you added it to OSR I'd be permanently locked out of it as well. That would be very obnoxious.
