I have tabulated the comments on this post thus far and the results are as follows:

117 - "No" votes and "Hard No" votes

35 - Neutral comments, comments that didn't supply an opinion, or comments that simply asked questions

33 - "Yes" votes (often saying to 'ignore the poll results and do it anyway'), and people that would vote "Yes" if conjuring, EoC, and other things were omitted

185 total replies

There is a graph attached that shows these results.

Thanks!

That's a terrible way to decide anything. If they want hear real opinion of whole playerbase then they should poll in game. Who do you think uses forums? Either those who are enthusiastic or those who hate the idea. It's clear that more people are hating this on forums than loving it.

no matter what you say, the fact is that most osrs players hate warding. this won't pass. if it gets 75% then jagex definitely manipulated the votes. no way in hell that many people like this skill.

also very suspicious that they hid the polls at such a convenient time. we all know how jagex fucks things up. even some of their mods fuck things up. we don't have any guarantee that the mods won't touch the votes. the polls are now hidden...

No, I don't really want this new skill and the vast majority of people who have I have seen talk about it don't either. Also why can't I vote? Let everyone vote instead of sending out emails. If it is implemented though then please for the love of god do not have Battle Warding as part of the skill. You killed your own game by changing the combat why go against the majority of the communities wishes and risk doing it again? What do you have to gain? It's a lose lose situation from my perspective and the idea of them doing it is kind of stupid. The simplistic style combat with a high skill ceiling is what alot of players enjoy about the game just leave it how it is!

Coming from someone who has been active/inactive since they were 12 (I am 23) please do not add a skill to osrs. OSRS is what it is because of staying the same in all its beauty. It is why I left my rs3 nearly maxed account to start over. A new skill is a major change, one that may greatly offend many players. I hope they speak up. Trying to keep this short and to the point. Much love, I love osrs and all that it has provided.

I have played Runescape 10+ years and came back just because of OSRS. Like a lot of the changes and always felt that if there were a skill to add it should be Summoning again and leave it there. All of the extra ambiguous items in the game could be used up by Summoning and would add another dynamic to DMM.

Also, the new warding skill seems too much like a combination on crafting and runecrafting, which is fine but doesn't need to be a new skill. I have been waiting for something similar to this for those skills but do not feel it should be a new skill entirely. A lot of the ideas make sense and I have a request to make an imbued pharoah sceptre that will autocast ancients because zaros and the pyramids and the altar for ancients in the pyramids. Just think it makes sense.

Ok, so this will probably get lost somewhere and no one will read it.

I have played OsRs since it came out. The nostalgia was there for awhile and for about the first year it was fun. After about a year of playing things began to get stale and the game just didn't seem as fun as it used to. Then the new land mast to the west came out, that revived it for me, they started adding new things like raids, quests, bosses, Etc. This is what got me to continue playing. Now its back to the whole "there isn't really anything fun left to do atm" kinda deal. I ended up quitting again, waiting for new content to revive my will to play the game....

That content never came because the players that are all like "we don't want change" or the "This is looking like rs3.. blah blah blah" Look no this isn't looking like Rs3, do you see an ability bar cause I sure as hell don't!

Anyway, i think this skill WILL revive the game for a lot of people, me included. As far as i see it, ill stay on RS3 as long as content constantly fails to pass polls because whiny entitled people don't want new things to come to an already great game.

Its a yes from me as something needs to change!

So you want the game to keep getting more and more stale until no one wants to play it anymore because nothing new is coming out, content isnt being added and it all just gets boring after awhile?

I love osrs, but i think it needs something new, and a skill will bring me back to the game as itll give me something fun to do.

I think it's best to cut off kinhunter, venomous, and cosmos for now.

No need to release level 90 content immediately on release. Leave the top end of the skill unfinished for a part 2.

Why? Will give you time to see how the skill fits into osrs and what gaps it has. I don't think anyone gives a crap about those specialized robes right now. Don't add content just for the sake of it.

Also please cut the area buffs ideas. I would honestly cut the "banes" section for now as well.

On the other hand, a lot of the ideas are cool. F2P elemental robes and rebalances are what I like the most.

I'm surprised you didn't come up with better magic weapons, like a staff with an offensive special attack, but that can be added in phase 2.

I see time and time again that people "show" that they are negative to the idea of adding a new skill like warding . However giving arguments like " most people I see in the comment sections are negative " is not a good argument for whether or not this is to be a good idea or that it would defintly not pass.

It's ignorant to believe this because the way I see it, most of those using the forums are people that use their voices and shout the loudest, while the larger player base don't even leave a comment.
Not saying it's defintily like this, but I also think that most of those you might see ranting in the comment section on live streams and youtube videos are mostly (not all of them) people influenced by streamers or the other commenters that hate on the skill. This is exactly why poll results should be hidden before voting...

Again to clairify , I'm not saying whether or not this skill would pass, but I hope I might make some of you see that this skill might be a good addition to the game and yes, it's not vanilla 2007 runescape, but osrs seriously need new content to survive the coming years and to grow.
If not, osrs might slowly die out as people playing the game are those that played back in 2007 or before and quit. In the best case, it stagnates and people will still shout out for pvp fixes for years to come.

If you read all of this, whatever your stance is on the case I hope you have a nice day.
