I think this skill is interesting and has some potential. I mean we've always been able to smith melee armor and craft ranged armor so this will be the icing on the cake. Finally able to make our own magic armor and imbue rings without nightmare zone. I'm sure the more people train and look into it, the more they'll learn to like it.

I like the template for the skill that was presented at Runefest. A couple of suggestions:

Make the disenchanting a big part of the skill; there are a lot of junk items in the game that would be given value from doing this.

Don't let any of the body-gear craftable through warding have BiS stats, even if they are defensive stats because that isn't in line with other skills currently. Maybe add some BiS jewelry or blessings that would give cool, unique functions.

While the skill does make sense, I don't think the idea of the missing concept of the creation of magic armour alone is enough to warrant the new skill. I also don't like the fact that it appears that like smithing and crafting, it's a buyable skill. I also feel like moving imbued rings was made out to be a stronger selling point than it should be.

However with that said I do think the skill offers the ability to be an item sink. Would love to see the resources of high level gear be a means of upgrading a small amount. For example a bandos chestplate could be turned into a bandos chestplate lump, where 5 could be added to an existing bandos chestplate to make an upgraded version that has 1-2 extra strength bonus and about 5 higher defense stats. However the new chestplate would have be charged after so many hours of combat with x amount of lumps. This gives wealthy players a way to gain another small edge, without comprising the effectiveness of the item. It also adds a way for items to be continually sunk out of the game. As we know without items exiting the game, prices will eventually fall due to over saturation.

Could we use this opportunity to introduce new Magic weapons, Special Attacks, and related gear? How about some Magic shields, orbs, or something to provide a unique benefit? Perhaps a shield-slot or ammunition-slot item (like blessings) with a passive effect, such as increased rate of Hitpoints or Prayer points restoration while equipped. Maybe even something that could provide an additional +1% to +5% boost for an activated Prayer - or the ability to customize stat bonuses of a tiered, imbued ring of sorts. Just, something that makes this Warding skill more lucrative and interesting, worthwhile for the developers, and fitting and useful to the game and its players.

I feel as though the creation of magic armor should be added to the crafting skill instead of an entire new skill itself. I don't think we need a new grindy creation skill just for this reason. If we did see a new skill I would much rather have an engaging, fun, non grindy skill. I'd much rather have sailing instead as it seems that would be an entirely new experience, rather than another unneeded grind fest. I do enjoy grinding skills, but I don't want our first new skill to be just that while not bringing any new fun gameplay.

I like the idea of new magic content being that I am playing as a 20 def 99 magic pure on my main account. But do see little point in the new skill without new magical Armour coming along with it.

If no other magic armour is added along with the skill or uses for magic another spell book perhaps, I see the skill being useless much like the smithing skill.

Smithing is by far one of the worst, dumbest, broken and most costly skills in the game. Most would agree is useless and I can see warding becoming very similar as a skill. If that makes sense or not idk but more magic armour is a must i feel for the content to not be born dead.

Well ,

For me it's a
NO
for multiple reason , lets start :

You should add all that new content about magic armor in crafting/smithing with simple way to do that.

I think a new skill for this content is too much. Nobody need this armor anymore.

Think about it Jagex and please keep OSRS like we love it.
:)

speak for yourself. There is many new HCIM/Ironman/Normies being made in a single day. They still need that stuff. Yall are just voting no for the benefits of your max cape. Sit back and do the skill.

Not to mention, looking at your stats. YOU could personally use this stuff.
