Eh people say it will hurt people who cannot afford to buy bonds; in reality it will help them by being able to buy membership with your bought bonds. Some people cannot afford to buy membership, and bonds is a way to give them that opportunity.

That being said, I'd still rather see osrs have its own membership to gather revenue then have micro-transactions. I feel the negative out-weights the positive.

If someone can't afford membership, they could buy bonds with gold instead.

To do that, they have to earn gold.

To earn gold, they have to be members.

They can't afford membership.

Membership paves the way for f2p servers.

Microtransactions are made for f2p games.

Anyway, so long as there is no f2p, there's no need for bonds, since there are no cosmetics in the game. The only way to use them, in general, would be membership, but since everyone on OSRS now already can afford membership, no need for them at all.

If they introduce f2p, we can talk about how many of them would become members balanced against how many people would quit, but without f2p, it's a moot point.

F2p paves the way for this conversation (and only this conversation, bonds are still on the other side of that). Bonds pave the way to cash for Jagex and nothing else.

From Mod Jane's FAQ:

How does this affect me if I play Old School RuneScape?

Bonds will not be introduced into OSRS, so if you purchase a Bond the in-game item will only be held by your main game avatar. Because membership credit is shared across both games, if you redeem a Bond for Membership in the main game then you’ll also get the benefit of it for Old School access too.

Bonds will not be introduced, argument solved.

Unfortunately there is a decent sized list of examples where Jagex have gone back on their word when it comes to microtransactions.

I don't see why they would view this scenario any differently.

People play OSRS partly because you have to work for things. There will always be RWT but by taking a tough stance and banning anyone associated with RWT it limits the amount of people doing it and is frowned upon by the community. By adding bonds you promote RWT and are basically appealing for people to do it! you're dirty hypocrites. How many people actually use those dumb 07/rs3 swappers and even those who do it's doubtful they RWT to get that rs3 gp. They are more likely leaving a pathetic game ruined by microtransactions.

All I see is Jagex being greedy and wanting more revenue even at the expense of ruining part of the enjoyment of OSRS.

NO BONDS.

Well said

I used to actually support bonds but when it was put into the game it just didn't feel right, I hope they do not add them, I hope they look into other ways to deal with the gold problem.
