money irl always had an adventage in the game since day one,a good example is free to play vs member, members pay each month and got better ways to make money.
in theory this is the method of bonds too, paying to get an adventage in game.

Members pay for the option to do work to level up.

Buying bonds converts to instant GP with no work at all.

Your argument is equivocal and erroneous.

"Many people Gold-swap and RWT. This just makes it less risky for them by removing the middle-man."

This argument really gets under my hide. Gold swapping and RWT should be regarded as completely illegal; instead of helping them do it more safely, you should be banning those people for playing the game dishonestly. And ban all those clan spammers in lumbridge castle while you're at it.

If they want to do shady, dishonest things like transferring gold and RWT, then they deserve all of the risk that currently comes with it, and deserve all of the scams that they get. NO SUPPORT.

To understand my point of view better, I support purchasing purely-cosmetic items and other such things that have no impact at how 'ahead' you are in the game, through real money. Things like a silly hat for 20 cents or a different race (same model besides the head) for 2 usd are fine, even clear gear or gear that replaces the look of your actual equips (like in maplestory, but not in pvp areas) that are otherwise unobtainable or unequipable are fine. Buying in-game currency with real money? Not so much.

Hi guys , I am also one of the old school players of runescape since the seventh grade of middle school. Now I'm in college, I believe one of the reason this game had such an impact in my life was because of the difficulty of it and how hard you had to work to get things you wanted. Back in the day I died a million times and lost things And still I got back up and tried to regain them. But to the point, bonds goes against all of that. In my opinion bringing bonds to runescape is not going to help but instead hurt it. Paying to get the upper hand at the game is not meaningful and it's not going to lead to the old community we had before that was so united and just wanted to have a good time. I appreciate highly the fact that they even brought this version back but please do not go down that road.

"We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. If we let players start doing this, it devalues RuneScape for others. We feel your status in real-life shouldn't affect your ability to be successful in RuneScape."

Remember this^ or many of us will quit.

If bonds are introduced, there will be an established official relationship between RS gp and real world money. This means that whenever gp or items are staked in the dual arena, players are involved in gambling with real money, whatever the currency may be. Is it legal for Jagex to offer an online gambling platform?

Likewise, if someone scams an item, hacks an account, etc., they will be robbing that person of real world money. Does this mean that people should be prosecuted (as in real world prosecution) for stealing items in RS? If someone steals your wallet in RL, they are going to jail. What is different in RS if that third age armor costs hundreds of real world dollars?

Looked up the following news story from 2012:

Last week, the Dutch Supreme Court made a curious ruling: It convicted a teenage gamer of stealing something that doesn't exist. The defendant stole two virtual items while playing RuneScape, a free massively multiplayer online video game. According to the Associated Press, the defendant’s attorney argued that the stolen amulet and shield “were neither tangible nor material and, unlike for example electricity, had no economic value.” The court, however, disagreed, ruling that the time the 13-year-old victim spent in the game trying to earn the objects gave them value.

Well, with bonds these items will have very specific economic values...

Couldnt have put that in a better way.

Those who disagree with rwt should just keep playing freetrails. Afterall they wont want their achievement to be tarnish by rwt member now do they?

Do it like this and I am for it:

-Offer bonds at all banks in Runescape for purchase with 07scape gold
-You can buy it and redeem for membership
-You CANNOT buy bonds with ReaL cash and exchange for any gold, items etc.

"i am with free on this one"

otherwise i think bonds might really upset a lot of people and its such a new economy for people to get a wrong impression already
