My concern is that Jagex' microtransaction team have repeatedly shown that they have very selective hearing to listening to what the community wants.

Bonds may seem harmless, but it's the thin edge of the wedge and Jagex have repeatedly shown that they will keep pushing things until it becomes intolerable:

- SoF - originally free spins only, then buyable spins added because 'the community asked for it' (I was there when buyable spins where introduced. I remember the 15,000 long petition to remove buyable spins, I don't remember EVER seeing someone suggest they be introduced beforehand).

- SGS - originally cosmetically only, now has items that give an in game advantage such as pets that gather items for you.

- SoF - originally just ingame items only, now has SoF specific items that give significant advantages such as Samid's gloves, Silverhawk boots and the Magic Golem set).

I support bonds in OS.

They are just providing a direct method for what is already happening. There are so many Bond Clan chats that allow you to pay them OS GP for a bond. They buy bonds for IRL money on RS 3 and use it to get Gold on RS 07. I don't understand why you guys are against this and not against all those clan chats that are doing that.

I support this because frankly speaking I'll be able to avail a service using a much more direct method. Using a clan chat poses a risk that you can be scammed. I'll be voting yes.

I'm not going to argue your point of view as you are fully entitled to it as I am to mine.

However, you may want to find a better argument. A lot of people view gold transfers between OSRS and RS3 as cheating and are, in fact, against the clan chats that do it.

An argument of 'we should legalise cheating because people are already cheating' will get torn to shreds very quickly.

@Dr UO

Thanks for that I do take your point on board. I agree with you that the only circumstances under which I would support bonds would be if they were an effective money sink. I don't agree with the pay-to-win concept i.e. buying bonds with real £ and selling for in-game gold . I think that ruins the fun and competitive atmosphere which is at the core of 07. This would be a large step in the wrong direction and I'm sure would annoy the majority of players. It would make me start thinking about the long-term direction of 07 and do I want to risk wasting my time now if 07 evolves towards this?

I would support a bond system where players can purchase untradeable bonds from an NPC with in-game gold and redeem membership benefits; however I doubt it will exist in that format because Jagex wouldn't profit from it. It may also stimulate rwt trading if players can purchase gold to buy bonds which would overall be cheaper than the existing membership options.

I wouldn't care if players bought bonds with £ and could trade them in-game for cosmetic items but overall would want to avoid the microtransaction model.

I would like to add that if Jagex is worried about scamming gold trading clans then you have two options:

1. Make it against the rules and crack down on it. 07 and RS3 are not interchangeable games and should not be treated as such. Your wealth in one game should not be allowed to affect your position on the other. Not making this against the rules from the start was a big mistake on Jagex's behalf, in my opinion.

2. Make it safe buying gold on 07 by introducing bonds. I expect you would probably lose a large proportion of the existing members who pay solely for 07, if not majorly annoy them.

The whole draw of OSRS is that all of the monetization of RS3 is not there. Bonds remove the legitimacy from Runescape as you can literally just buy anything you want. The only things I see bonds as good for is for Jagex to cash in people who just want to buy their money instead of working on it like it should be.

I don't wanna see Bonds in OSRS.

Double Edit: The reason i don't wanna see bonds in OSRS, is because you can pay IRL money to achieve goals in OSRS faster.

Anyone who wants to get ahead in OSRS by bonds already does so by buying bonds in RS3 and transferring over to OSRS.
