Could you have a system where bonds in rs3 are linked to oldschool where a player on rs3 sells a bond to the ge and that bond can be bought by a player on oldschool for the ge price of what is on rs3.

Guys, let's look at this.

An RS3 player purchases a bond with real money and receives them in RS3. They then sell it on the GE for 6.5m. An OSRS player buys the bond from an NPC in V-West basement for 6.5m. The RS3 player then receives 6.5m RS3 GP through the GE.

This has:

1. Given both players what they wanted

2. Removed 6.5m OSRS GP from the game

It has my support, free membership ftw.

Kinda doubt it's going to get 75% support though.
You will never get anything for free. Anyone claiming that is trying to scam, lure or hijack you.

I'll just let the old rules speak for themselves.

==================
The Old Rules on Real-World Trading
==================

What is real-world trading ?

Real-world trading is the term used for the real-world purchase of services with the intention of advancing your Jagex character. This includes, but is not limited to: purchasing gold or items in Runescape, buying a Runescape account as well as paying someone to increase your account** experience(XP) in a skill or for them to complete quests and activates on your behalf.

Why do we have this rule ?

We have this rule for two reasons:

1. We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in Runescape. If we let players start doing this, it devalues Runescape for others. We feel your status in real-life shouldn't affect your ability to be successful in Runescape.

2. Often when players sell items in Runescape for real cash, the items are actually stolen. When a player purchases a Runescape account, there is a high probability that the account may have been stolen. Stolen accounts will always be returned to the original owner.

==================

The fact that 1. was removed from the current rules speaks a great deal about how the game has changed.

When I first read the rules seven years ago; I had a feeling real world trading was not against the rules because Jagex didn't want competition, they just wanted a fair game for everyone. And I respected Jagex greatly for that.

Please remember you roots.

No to bonds. Yes to banning inter-game swapping.

Why can't you accept? In other games you can do the same. You buy something in-game thing from the developer via cash,and you sell it for GP.

If you are poor it's not my problem.

This is the attitude I ran away from, when I quit Runescape years ago, after five years of membership. I came back recently, when I found out by chance that Old School Runescape existed. Since then, I have been re-building my character in OSRS, SO HAPPY that I could do it again without a lot of the crap introduced in RS, without worrying about micro-transactions. I haven't touched my RS3 account - in my mind, it is as if it didn't exist.

When in the OP I read "The one thing to be clear about is that this is just a discussion and you won’t suddenly wake up one morning to see bonds appearing in Old School. If bonds are introduced they will be done on the communities terms and only after passing a poll." I would very much like to believe it... but I cannot. I have this horrible feeling that sooner or later we will see bonds and the like appearing on OSRS and I will go away again.

If Jagex needs our money that badly, PLEASE just make membership more expensive. I would be happy and prepared to pay double, triple membership, if that is what it takes to have the peace of mind of knowing I won't have to be constantly worried Runescape will become Pay-to-win again. See, the problem is not that I am too poor to pay - it is the unfair advantage in the game with which I definitely disagree. I do care that everybody who are in the game are paying the same fee and given the same chance.

NO to any kind of irl trading. NO to people who think they are better than others in a game because "if you are poor, it is not my problem".

Being able to directly buy bonds for OSRS, and therefore experience and items, will make the game another pointless, pay-to-win piece of garbage like Rs3. The fact that you've even brought up bonds as a topic of discussion is fairly troubling, because it seems to suggest that, even though you are the community manager, you are completely out of touch with the community.

Do bonds really matter? People are already buying their way to 99's using gold-swapping clans.

More importantly, when is Grand Exchange coming? And, since it requires modifying the game engine, are you going to add a re-sizable screen while you are it? I think both of these are way more important than anything else brought up in these forums the last 2 months.

Seriously, this tiny screen is putting major strain on my eyes.

Anyone else agree?

I would absolutely LOVE to be able to purchase bonds from others in OSRS. I really only want to play Old School, and hate being forced to play the modern game in order to acquire bonds should I want them.

Legacy mode is awesome. Thank you :) . But OSRS is still superior, to me. I would love bonds here!
