I want to see Bounty Hunter worlds with EP, brawlers, statuettes, etc... This made pvp fun and you never knew what loot to expect. Please bring back those BH worlds. Craters were full of clans pjing and tackling people; it wasn't enjoyable imho (unless you were in clan)**** craters were for clans.... but BOUNTY HUNTER WORLDS, as bounty hunter should be... made it great for you to enjoy fighting your target and expecting a good return!

Bounty hunter worlds was honestly the prime of the whole game for me. Not being able to predict loot was exciting as nothing has ever been. The target system was great and full of adventure, and I loved socializing whilst building EP, or hunting green dragons and such. This update would also make slayer drops go up, which I find to be necessary.

Target Likelyhood was the best of Bounty Hunter, as it allows Pkers to pk in the wilderness as usual, and when they obtain a target, it is only of their benefit and allows the great chance at some good loot, however if it were to be as a minigame, it increases the chances of decrease in normal Pvp, in level 1-5 wilderness, which is what we voted for.

I was a massive fan of both the craters and the target system in BH worlds, however if I had to choose one in particular it would be the BH worlds simply because you were rewarded, in some cases, handsomely, for killing your opponent.
There was however a major flaw in the system in that almost everyone and anyone could abuse the system to make serious money and this definitely needs to be addressed this time around.

What I propose is that:
The EP system should return however, earning potential should only be linked to target kills. The higher EP you have, the more valuable the loot will be from your target should you kill them. I personally would like to see the return of statuettes, pvp armours and brawling gloves, however, these items would only be dropped should you kill your target.

For going rogue, the loot will only be the items that your opponent lost.

Previously, people would get EP and kill their friends for a nice reward, however with this system, you have no idea who your target will be and should you want a chance at improved loot, you will have you defeat your target.

A system that can be profitable like this one yet not be detrimental to the economy should get the wild up and firing again.

I have no idea as I never used bounty hunter before, in the crater or in the BH worlds. Glad to see that you still taking everyone's input, before going ahead and replicating content exactly as it was originally though. :)

Honestly so much noobs that don't realise that a target system with additional rewards will hurt the economy and only encourage 1-iteming. Remove worlds until there's 500 players per world instead of 100 and you have a wildy that's a lot more active.

It will encourage 1 iteming? You realize if its brought back how it was you have to be risking right? You won't get loot 1 iteming.

And additional rewards won't hurt the economy anymore than adding a boss with drops which we have done many times. The drops don't have to be statuettes, we can find other things for additional drops.

Why would the developers even think about adding bounty hunter. The minigame was one of the main reasons runescape was nerfed, when they introduced bounty hunter rather than PVP wilderness. I am a big no go for bounty it ruined Rs previously.

Reading through all of your feedback has helped a tremendous amount, thank you everyone that has replied. I've determined a few things based on all that has been said:

  • A reasonably overwhelming majority feel that the mechanics of BH being implemented into existing PvP areas in some way would be more suited to Old School rather than an entirely separate minigame or worlds
  • Players would like to see mechanics available in the existing wilderness on set worlds (where normal PKing is still an option to prevent splitting PvPers up)
  • Players like the idea of a minimum risk in order to take part/be rewarded
  • EP is generally thought of as a positive system to keep the wilderness active but was frustrating at times (waiting times) and the loot system that accompanied it was heavily abused

I've still not thought everything through in any particular detail, but here is a rough outline of what I have in mind at the minute.

Implementation
World 18 and world 65 would have Bounty Hunter mechanics added to the wilderness. World 65 would be a high-risk world.

Being assigned a target
In order to be assigned a target a player must be risking over 50k (based on alch value) in the wilderness. Players will also have to wait through a 1 hour cool-down period, which must be spent risking over 50k in the wilderness, before being assigned a target.

If players wish to skip their cool-down period and be immediately assigned a target they may sacrifice items to reduce the timer. 2k alch value sacrificed = 1 minute removed from the timer. This allows players that really enjoy the Bounty Hunter system to pay for more action, while also allowing target kills to give juicy rewards (explained shortly).

Targets assigned will usually be within 5 combat levels of the player and if there are few available players to be targeted that will be raised to 10.

Killing your target
When assigned a target players will see an arrow on the minimap pointing to their location at all times. They will also have access to a spell that can be cast once every 10 minutes that teleports them directly to their target.

You will be able to interrupt your target's combat in single combat areas and, when fighting your target, will have a 10 second PJ timer after you leave combat.

Target Loots
When killing your target you will still receive all of your opponents risked items when you kill them, however you will also get a little extra.

The items used to pay for skipping the cool-down timer will be re-distributed to players as bonus loots from target kills. This allows players to get a nice chunk extra for killing their target without negatively impacting the economy (any bonus loots are not being created, just moved from one player to another).

There would also be some new items that can only be obtained through PvP, although I haven't put a whole lot of thought into this yet (any ideas are more than welcome).

A points system could also be introduced where after every rogue kill on a BH world you receive 1 point, and after every target kill you receive 10. These points could then be used to buy items or imbues from a PvP-related reward shop.

The goal with the loot system is to create an extra incentive without devaluing existing items or introducing some new, insanely powerful items. I think that releasing balanced, but powerful, items is something that could be looked into providing you guys are on board with what we come up with.

This is a REALLY rough, bare-bones outline of what I have in mind based on the feedback here. Let me know what you think, I really need help to make this an update that you guys will adore.
