By introducing the blowpipe to BA, you had (perhaps) unknowingly solved a problem that existed at the core of the mini-game.
As you know, the game exists of four roles and five players. Immediately, there exists an option for one roles for duties to be divided. Taking that a step further, an option to leech a role and (usually) pay for the service was created. Hence, BA clans.
The option still exists for new players to learn without being relied upon still exists after this update. However the removal of the blowpipe affects a different player-base of the mini-game altogether.
The players most affected by the update are those who used a single attacker (thanks to the DPS of the blowpipe). These teams often allowed the more difficult or slower roles to be carried out by multiple people (such as healing). Additionally, it is these teams who play BA well beyond the milestones of attaining Lvl 5 in all roles, or even obtaining the pet. The players on these teams are the ones who set records, create guides, and develop clans to help the game grow.
These teams enjoy playing BA as much as the rest of the community may enjoy slaying, PKing, bossing, skilling, and raiding. And it is unfortunate that these teams represent such a small percent of the overall playerbase, for their complaints over what they enjoy most will most likely be overlooked. There was no provocation, incentive, or reason in particular behind today's change on the blowpipe, and it cannot be argued that BA was meant to be a melee based game because you are provided with ammunition upon entry.
