The bolt pouch update is brilliant 250 was so low I didn't even know anyone who used it. 10k now makes it a more worthwhile item to carry. Also the runes automatically going into rune pouches is brilliant when slaying.

A good update Jagex.

Also, I think it's worth addressing a common misconception that anyone outside our community has.
The BA community that we are referring to is not JUST players who sell torso leeches...
The majority of our community is built upon players who play BA for fun, not money. This is not about the clans that offer services to people who want to pay for a torso. This is about the people that play BA because we love the game! We have an entire clan based on playing BA for fun that has over 300 users and 50+ people in it every single day!

Our interests in breaking record times, and speeding BA with methods involving the blowpipe is NOT because we want to sell torsos faster. It is because speed rounds are one of our sole ways to enjoy the game of BA. Whether it is a speed round or not, you will always find an attacker using the blowpipe because it is simply the most efficient way to play, not because we discovered some "bug".

Please understand this and work with us on a solution that allows us to continue with the style in which we play BA. This game means so much to so many people.
I cannot express that enough.

Please consider allowing blowpipe back in barbarian assault. Having a viable ranged attacker makes a big difference when playing the minigame competitively. This update has a major impact on the fun of playing the minigame, both from casual and competitive standpoints. The update is not going to stop people from selling torso leeches, it's just going to make them have less fun playing the minigame.

Edit: I would support a new method of changing ammo specific to BA if it allows us to use blowpipe again. I just don't think it's fair to let us use viable ranged attack styles for years and then force us to use melee all of a sudden.

So, so far Mod Ash's only 'defence' for this update is that "It wasn't intended".

I don't understand why the OSRS team pretend that they listen to us with polling, yet will not poll the updates that effect players the most. The void nerf. The serp helm. Now this. I'm beginning to realise that you really can't trust the creators to listen to the players at all.

The removal of the toxic blowpipe is a big blow for the BA community. It enabled us to have different types of games (duo healer) and made the game-play more exciting and fast paced. I know many range-based accounts that no longer want to play BA because who wants to use a magic shortbow and bronze arrows, whereas melee can have maxed gear.

The attacker role is a very sought after role in BA, most rounds are played with two! So we need as many attackers as possible playing! This update will reduce player numbers and harm our ability to form teams.

In terms of speed-running BA, this will affect us greatly. Previously games had a fluid feel to them. Now they feel sluggish and dull. To use the blowpipe as efficiently as possible took skill and concentration. Melee only attacking takes no skill in comparison. This change will impact other roles too. For example, less eggs will now be shot since the attackers will spend more time killing (reducing the collectors impact on the game) and as a result healers will die later. In some games I played yesterday the attackers finished last when previously it was the healers skill and teamwork of the other players to make the game end as fast as possible. Please reward skill over rng.

I hope you reconsider as the blowpipe only made Barbarian Assault a better more fun game. I also suggest improving range weapons available in BA since who wants to use a magic shortbow in 2017? Melee is allowed to bring anything into BA but range is not?

I have recently made my glorious return to Runescape.

One of my goals was/is to get the achievement diary cape on OSRS.

That meant I had to play Barbarian Assault as well.

At first I started playing it reluctantly.

But then I noticed that there was a community around this minigame.

A commited and passionate community I had not seen in many, many years.

It reminded me of my past love for Runescape.

Having fun. Breaking boundaries. Being inventive. Competion. Efficiency. Actually caring about something in this game.

It might seem like not a big deal to many people, I personally wouldn't have cared, nor would I have realized that people would actually feel this strong about it, or would feel strong about anything in runescape nowadays, if you asked me last month.

The OSRS mods obviously didn't realise this either, or it wouldn't have been a random, unpolled, unexpected "fix", after many years of usage.

But this update to destroy the use of the blowpipe in Barbarian Assault has really upset a whole community.

Please don't take away their love for the game for no valid reason whatsoever. No money, no Experience or anything wrong was gained by the use of blowpipe. Only fun and happiness. Don't take that away from them. Don't take it away from me, again.

I write this just after we finished our peaceful march from the Grand Exchange until Barbarian Assault, Wave 1. The First BA March.
