Here is the problem I have seen with void.
Void is not overpowered, its the ballistae hitting so high with the ability to throw another 1 tick spec into its stack.
Combine that with the ability to just sprinkle on a gmaul spec or dragon thrown axe spec on top of any high exp drop and this is where the over powered part comes in.
Your dragon claws special attack hits 38-19-10-9? sprinkle in a gmaul special for that KO.
Your dharok Axe hits a 70? Better rock out 2 maul specs to cement the KO.
Dark bow spec hits a 40-42? Better throw that dragon thrown axe for another quick 30 damage.
Ballistae hits a 70? You guessed it, gmaul or thrown axe.

Yea, hitting a 70 is alot, but being able to instantly throw another attack or 2 on it is where the problem is.
You are right, like even melee can use DH with 300+ armor bonus, hit a 90, and then Gmaul up to 44 with each of the 2 specs. Even when a melee void ags pker uses an ags, they can spec a 82, and then instant maul 40+ damage right after in the same game tick.

This way, better alternatives may be considered and perhaps both sides would understand each other better. Of course, there will always be people opposed to the changes, but I feel like the end result would be a lot better from the first try. One way to implement this system could be by using "beta worlds" such as the ones currently used for fight caves in cases like this.
An important part of the community is immature manchildren who would whine and throw a tantrum at the mere mention of nerfing their belowed overpowered moneymaker or nerfing a set that wasn't even intended at +20% to begin with, even though the nerf is very much needed in the name of balance (these players don't care about balance and game integrity though, they just care about the gp.)
Not to mention the ones who would rage and threaten to quit on their 3 accounts (even though we know they won't) just because Jagex doesn't go with /their/ idea.
It wouldn't have been very productive.
Instead, they do it themselves, very well needed (the community does not know what is best for the game and I'm very glad Jagex is stepping up)
Then people go make threads on reddit about it, the whiners don't gather much support 'cause their posts really don't contribute in any way, and you get the real gems of a post cropping up here and there. Those stand out and it's a lot easier to find them then.
Keep in ming that, sure, they "had" to go back afterwards to buff some things a little bit, but considering it was only a very sma increase to void + a fairly small change to serp helm, I'd aay they did a pretty good job on their own first time.

I speak for large portion of player base when I say please BUFF shark instead to make them rarer and more profitable for those who fish them please. If nerf, only make it easier for those with 99 fishing.

"Because it's a big nerf" is hardly what I'd call a constructive argument against a nerf.
There is nothing inherently wrong with a big nerf if something needed/deserved the nerf.

jk but seriously, as someone else said, we're not your guinea pigs, you can't just test these new changes on us and then see how we react and fix accordingly. WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE!!!!???

A step in the right direction albeit I believe that more still needs to be done. This isn't a proper fix to the catastrophe of an update that was released yesterday.
Guys i honestly feel like Serpentine Visage needs to have a chance to poison players - i'm a defence tank and my sole purpose of creating this account which is currently ongoing is going to take hundreds of hours. I just feel like without Serp helm being able to venom then there is no more content to be made on defence pures.
