Sounds good to me, except that the buy interface shouldn't show the total price, but rather the price per unit, and sort by that.
Also, there should be a feature to show the recent trades for each item, so that buyers and sellers can get a good idea of how much items are actually going for, rather than just looking at what people are trying to sell them for. This could be accessible from both the buying and selling interfaces, and would show when the trades were completed, who bought, who sold, and for how much per unit.
I also think there should be a way to put up buy offers as well as sale offers, and looking up an item would list both, or filter out one as requested. This way we can see who we're selling to, as well as who we're buying from. Also, we'll be able to place offers for items currently not for sale.
As for an amount of time before a sale offer expires, the main issue here is that we don't want incomplete sale offers from inactive or unsubscribed accounts to crowd up the list of sale offers, especially when those offers are so ridiculous that nobody would ever accept them.
I'd suggest somewhere around 3 days to a week after being offline seems reasonable. This could be changed as needed after we see how well it works live.
I also might suggest a more readily available means to view the stats of those offering trades. We'd like to be able to make sure that the players we're trading with aren't bots, and stats can be a good representation of that most of the time. Perhaps we could click their name to "stat spy" them, or open a separate window to their high scores page. The ability to message them is great, but not when they're offline.
Or there should be a mechanic to restrict bots trying to mass sell goods. Perhaps a quest point requirement to unlock additional offer slots, similar to how slayer task cancellations work. Or maybe the total value of items you can offer at once is related to your total level.
