I understand that there are some who want to leave trading as it is, I would prefer to do so myself, but consider our current trading options:

a) stay in a crowded world trying to sift through a sea of spam from bots/merchers to trade (only practical for commonly traded items)
b) use the forums marketplace like people did in 2007 (and ignore the fact that no one uses it now and it is therefore impractical to use)
c) use a 3rd party website to buy/sell/pricecheck like most everyone else does

The mere fact that so many people choose to use a 3rd party website for trades/pricing illustrates the need for an in-game solution.

Ideally, the solution that is provided will not only eliminate the use of 3rd party systems, but also improve on the function that these services provide.

So far, the Auction House is sounding like a good solution to this.

Suggestion:

I don't believe this is illustrated at the moment, but I would like to see a way to place a 'buy offer' - so that even if there is no one currently selling a certain item an offer can be placed on it.

"The mere fact that so many people choose to use a 3rd party website..." illustrates the need for an in-game version of said website. I'm so frustrated that I and many others worked so hard on proposing actual solutions only to have a watered down version of GE come ready to poll.

To be honest, this seems like something cool. But one thing that I may advise for you guys on the Oldschool Team is to put a "estimated" price so people, such as merchants do not manipulate the price of the items. Or maybe take the price from the oldschool 07 price and put that into the Auction House to make sure people don't scam you.

I'm very excited to see a system being added, it's long overdue. However, I don't understand why you want to create a new, custom system when the GE worked extremely well. I would much rather see the GE come back than see a new system.

While some people find the trading aspect enjoyable, I find it to be a major detractor. I hate having to deal with trading and actively avoid it as much as possible. The GE let me put up items I wanted to sell and I could easily put in a buy request for items I want. I don't want to have to waste time looking through trades, I just want it to work and be done. Trading is not the fun part of the game for me, it's one of the worst parts.

If manual trading really were the overriding preference then people in the current RS wouldn't use the GE - they would just trade manually. The overwhelming use of the GE shows many players prefer the ease and convenience of the GE over antiquated trading schemes.

They should have just made an exact copy of what Zie bez is and named it a "trading board". It would work exactly the same - people simply post what they're buying\selling and for how much. The rest of the transaction needs to be done through PM and\or face to face. That''s the only realistic "solution" that would pass a 75% vote. The proposed auction house is way too much like GE and more than likely won't pass because of it.

Here is what I think should be changed about the Auction House suggestion:

1. We do need a tax. If you poll people if they want to spend additional money on something, of course they will vote against it. I think a 5% tax, split between both parties, should be applied for all transactions. If Player A buys an item for 1,000,000 from Player B, a total of 50,000 GP will be removed. Player A would actually pay 1,025,000 and Player B would receive 975,000 GP. This would make the convenience of automated and quick trading worth it.

2. A time limit on trades. There should be a limit on how long a trade is allowed to be listed before being automatically placed in your AH collection box. There is simply no need to leave an item in for 10 weeks.

3. Bid and buyout System. The nature of an action is to provide an item to the highest bidder. Sellers can choose to leave a buyout value and a starting bid upon pushing an item.

4. Auction terminals. There should be terminals in all major cities which provide a read-only access to your auctions. You can not do any creation or deletion of offers at these terminals.

5. Link the names to our ignore list or add a filter option to do so. If there is a user on my ignore list, there is a good chance I do not wish to communicate or work with them. I think an option to block ignored player auctions will be wise.

6. Item Kits. Some people like selling quest kits or pure sets for PvP and it would be nice to have the ability to pay a few hundred GP for an NPC to package noted kits to place on the Auction House.

Well here we go again "old school" means old school let the game be its fun now all the new changes only make the game to easy to play and we will all get bored again like on rs3 i had fun walking every where before i could earn my way to teleport it was fun clicking one bone at a time to earn prayer now we have x times added thats not fair to the people that got 99 doing one click at a time. slow down on the changes please. I am sorry to be negative but thats how i feel about all these new updates to what IS or WAS old school runescape I played since october 2004 ONE CLICK AT A TIME FOR ALL MY SKILLS BACK THEN, and had a blast earning my way up. peace my gaming friends have fun.
