It's been apparent from the start that trading in Varrock West is indeed a major issue. But I find it completely unnecessary to offer a "solution" in the midst of giving people wishing to play for free a chance. It upsets me that Jagex is speeding along in their development blogs the instant an update comes out as if it didn't really matter to them. Auction Houses have worked in other MMORPGs. Jagex is taking a huge risk with this, and with the upcoming Legacy Mode coming out for EOC, this could mean trouble for Old School. Then again, people are going to have mixed feelings on this trading solution. I for one find it completely unnecessary, and I think Jagex needs to expand upon what a certain third party website has already given us without messing up a core value in the gameplay.

What zbz does, is exploits a flaw in OSRS. It takes advantage of the minimal and insufficient player base and provides their solution to the problems this flaw presents. To suggest OSRS should be content with its flaws and allow what is essentially a parasite to have its way, seems questionable.

Coming from someone who has played Classic and the original RS2, I can tell you right now that people take advantage of zbz because it is easy and makes do-it-yourself skilling to be an overly tedious task. This Auction House presents itself with a helping hand of flaws, one for giving the player to do offline trading. It eliminates the need for face-to-face trading and it was an essential part of the game in the original RS2.

In the long run it is more beneficial to design your character around PvMing and staking than it is for skilling, simply because there are more immediate benefits. This Trading Solution will indeed change a lot, and if it turns out for the worse then I will consider retirement for a game that actually rewards it's players for work.

Also I would like to just throw this out there. All the people that claim spamming in world 1 is so annoying or that you have to use a third party website to get what you want,
you are on the forums and they do have a section for items.
I know that not a lot of people use it because they choose to use third party websites or to spam in world 1,
but if people chose to use the FORUMS then we would have NO NEED FOR A GE or "auction house."
I mean, back in original 07 the FORUMS USED TO BE VERY BUSY AND YOU COULD VERY EASILY FIND WHAT YOU WERE LOOKING FOR. For some reason these days people think you have to go to a third party site or some ge solution. USE THE TOOLS JAGEX ALREADY PROVIDES. I mean seriously guys, I WOULD MUCH RATHER THEM TAKE MONTHS WORKING ON NEW MONSTERS, QUESTS, ITEMS OR LAND EXPANSION , not waste months to solve a trading problem that could easily be solved by using the tools already implemented into the game. PERSONALLY I THINK THAT IF YOU CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET THE ITEMS YOU NEED, THEN YOU SHOULD RE-EVALUATE HOW YOU PLAY THE GAME. Post on the forums or a third party website if you chose and go train something else in the mean time. If you realize you are getting low on certain items post to buy them before you run out.

Will not get my support. Are you guys that lazy that you can't go to world 1 to purchase your item? Let alone use zbz, boy that sucks up so much of your time! Just like the GE, this 'auction house' is designed for players that want instant gratification. Part of the fun of 2007 is going to W1 to shop for your item. Not to mention Jagex just made it even easier to shop in W1 by allowing you to toggle autochat.

I have played runescape since 2005. Never in my entire career of playing this game, until now, have I realized how important time management is on this game. I give my full support to any idea or solution that will decrease the amount of time that I have to put into buying and selling my drops/supplies. As it stands now, slayer, my favorite skill of all time, is not even worth my time because I have to stand around for hours trying to sell my loot, so that I can buy back my supplies to continue slaying. And for all you people that don't want this update, quit whining on the forums and just vote no when the poll comes out. You are not going to change anyone's mind with your silly illogical and passion filled arguments. The people who feel one way or the other on this topic are not gonna change their minds, so in reality, you are just wasting your time if you do not have anything positive to add about how this update can be presented. Limit your XP waste people.....That's all I gotta say.

Having to go to a known location (Varrock Bank) and then to a certain area around the bank (Rear of anvils) to sell range equipment, gives players a sense of community and an atmosphere that I think RS3 lacks.

Community > Convenience

-Jonezboy

Trading bots, didn't know that was good community interaction. No it's not, if you want community interaction join aclan and pvm/pk/skill with clan members. Trading is nothing more than giving someone some gp for a sword and saying ty and being on your way, there is no interaction worth keeping in there.

So you want automated trading to exist and support the idea of offline trading which in the long term, will make buyable 99s a ease so long as you have money.

Perhaps limiting XP waste is not what it's all cracked up to be. As it turns out, it seems that more people want pre-EOC rather than an actual old school server.

In the original RS2 I depended upon the forums for most of my trades. Even back then it was more convenient than standing around in Varrock and Falador trying to find a good deal. You had to know what you were buying or selling.

Suggesting offline trading and the usage of an automated system were the breaking points for me. As for now I'm going to have to say no to this matter.
