To all of the people opposing this update due to the 'lack of social interaction':
How many people do you trade with per month? Hundreds? And how many of those people stay on your friends list and become your BFF? I am willing to bet there are very few. I believe people tend to make lasting friendships with those they encounter frequently in the game - same world, same activity, same quest, or whatever. Trading is most likely to be a one time only thing if you are trading with whoever is online at the time you are looking to also trade. It COULD become something more if player1 regularly offers what player2 regularly wants to buy, but these trades usually change with time as the players level up.
I've had people not respond to multiple IMs, people who don't update their trade status on the 3rd party sites, and I've been cursed soundly for not accepting less than my offered price just because they were 'buying in bulk and deserved a discount'. I personally avoid W1 like the plague because I can't tell who of the 2 dozen people standing in the same square is selling what as only half post their name in their autochat. You love W1? I hate it. You love 1 to 1 meeting? Not everyone does. No update will EVER make everyone happy.
The fact is that people voted for this update. You will not be forced to use it. But you can add some ideas to help make it BETTER than the old GE was. Stop stomping your feet like spoiled children and threatening to quit if this goes through. Help make it into something that is not totally evil.
I would like to suggest that the price each be displayed for trades that allow partials. I would also suggest that there
could
be a way to specify online only trades as well. These people could haggle and meet to trade all they like and those open to offline trading could do so too.
I also like having the offers expire after 48 hours.
It would also be nice if you could see all offers from a player by clicking their name.
