It will be an utter mess without an official price for each item. The idea is you're representing the anti-GE players, because they're the ones that would oppose an official price (they oppose virtually everything GE related).

What you'll be doing, however, is killing player-player trade. If you want to continue trading without the Auction House, you're screwed. There won't be a zbz to quickly check a market price, there won't be a web-based price guide, and the trade interface won't help you either. You and the other trader will have to guess, and that's simply not going to work. What will happen? it will be like what GE did to player-player traders all over again, except this time, it won't just usher them to use the solution, it will FORCE them.

Truth be told, I couldn't care less about player-player trading. I am more interested in features unlocked by an official price, such as a price checker, value lost on death, cs/ls, etc...

Original message details are unavailable.
I had criticisms when I first read it, but then I began to think about how this actually sounds good and unique to GE. There are a few things I dislike slightly, like the whole adding people, and seeing everyone's name, and selling all items in a bundle, but I guess it'll have to work that way if it isn't GE...

Mat K said that can be changed - so the seller/buyer can decide the minimum they want to sell/buy per transaction. Which I'd say is imperative - imagine needing 100k nature runes and having to ask for 2k at a time because few people have 100k nats...

How will I sell a spade for 5k to a desperate or impatient or lazy buyer if they can get one for 5 gp from the Auction House? All my crazy profits are gonna be gone.

Half kidding but also half serious. There are people who buy spades for 1k or more sometimes when they could walk a short way and get one free.

I sell a lot of things in banks to people wanting something immediately who overpays, but the Auction House will undoubtedly do to prices what the GE did, lower them by a lot, if players can trade when offline.

There is both good and bad in a trading system as opposed to player to player trades. In some cases it will help me buy or sell items, but it will also most likely increase competition which will lower prices, which is potentially good for the buyer but potentially both good and bad for the seller.
Hi.

I had my doubts, but this idea is quite nice. I certainly didn't want a repeat of the G.E.

However, looking at some of the comments it is quite important we don't have a repeat of the new skill poll. If it does come to a poll, please give people the option for 'Leave trading as it is'.

I came to OSR to plat OSR. Seems to be changing into NOSR though...

can you also added per each ?? value on it ? so we don't have take calculator out to find how much the person is selling for. it would be nice if it said:

Name: Quantity : each price : total : time since trade post

so

Name: Quantity : each price : total : time since trade post;
port d. ACE: 15 : 19,000ea: 28500: 1days
dragon: 20 : 20,00ea : 400,000 : 2days.

I'm 100% against ge, and i dont particularly like this either, but i wouldnt be too upset if it passed. its not anything like the ge.

As long as they dont put a "suggested price" and show you whos buying/selling, its not horrible
