This better be polled!
I will vote a big fat "NO!" because anything that even resembles GE is NOT okay!
OSRS is supposed to be 2007 version of the game! There was no GE in 2007! This ruins the game! Don't even think about adding it! Don't even think about changing it and then adding it! Only a direct player-to-player trade system will do!

I suggest a better solution. Have players post up what they are buying or selling in an auction, but only the player's name is available. You must go to the player (or have them come to you) and do the trade directly. This will be both convenient and preserve the oldschool look and feel.

this hardly resembles the GE, only the screenshots but the idea is taken from games like WoW and diablo.

BTW: having to run and meet someone/hop worlds is inconvenient. theres no point in having jagex spend dev time on an in game zyb haha get real.

I'm okay with this idea.

" Players have also asked for the trade to expire a certain amount of time after a player has gone offline - how long do you think is suitable? "

No less than 5 minutes but no longer than an hour.

Will we be able to offer more than 6 items at a time? I sell a lot of different potions, and a few other things, and tend to put them up for sale all on the same day. Being able to list only 6 items is very limiting, I would prefer at least 20.

Also, why not have the interface open with a list of the items the player is currently selling and a search bar at the top of the list to type in an item name? The result of that search might give information similar to your snapdragon example, but instead of a confirm button at the bottom, two buttons, one buy and one sell, that would then produce the buying and selling interfaces, similar to the GE, where we can purchase a desired quantity even if different from the quantity offered by the seller.

I am assuming the auction house will hold the items to be sold (since trades can happen while offline), but that a player may cancel the sale and receive his or her items back in order to sell to a person who has contacted the seller directly. Perhaps unsold items will be returned to the seller after 24 hours automatically.

It would also be nice to allow buy orders for things no one has listed. For example, you want a red bead and no one is selling. You could put in an offer to buy for some amount.

I like the idea of being able to haggle, but what if the player is offline? What if their private chat is off? There should be at least an option to send a message to the player through a messaging system built into the auction house. We could go even a step further and have a "haggle" button, which would allow you to put in a counter-offer, where you would place a certain amount of money for a certain amount of that item that the player could see.

Would this be too difficult to implement? Thoughts?

Mat K, would this system work with Lootshare?

We can do a loot share system based on this sure.

This is damn great...

Lootshare/(shardshare?) is what will make me stay on osrs in long time as i love bossing/quests
What are you, a concerned beaver?

Awesome, great ideas! I thought I would be disappointed with the outcome of this whole "Trade Solution" thing. I was there when the GE ruined thousands of peoples lives so I was just a little worried again.

As for the the time limit on offers idea... This is confusing and sort of upsetting if you are planning to limit player's market time, (personally, I would hate to come back to unsold items after a number of days if that was the case).. Maybe you could let players set the time limit on their own auction? Also let players put a price range they are comfortable with receiving the items at. -For example I put up a big bid to buy feathers 5-7gp each, not just one set price... This could really speed things up for the market as a whole, sellers could also easily sell anything at relative prices. In hypothesis, I feel the price randomization could keep prices fluctuating enough to hold back price manipulations! I edited this because I realized my other idea was too complicated lol! Thanks for keeping it Old School guys! really enjoying it~

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too much like the GE.

I do not support this unless it takes out all the automation. Make something like the Z-word site exchange and I'd support that. Unless this sees a significant change that is NOT just a GE clone, I will continue to vote no for it.

A choice of 1 hour to 6 hours.

A 1 hour offer would take up 1 slot, 2 hours would take 2 slots, and so on.

However I would rather have no automated system AT ALL!

And even more than that I would rather you don't put in a system at all, it's fine the way it is. If it goes to a vote, anything under a 95% pass should be a fail.

Please stop trying to ruin the game, just to please the few people who are too lazy to spend 5 minutes trading.
