This seems like a great opportunity to bring in 3 sets of armor and capes (melee, range, and magic). The TzHaar citizens already use all 3 combat styles, so I think it would make sense (or at least bring balance) to have all 3 be obtainable.
These are my suggestions:
1. In addition to the proposed melee armor, add ranged and magic equivalent sets that also receive similar bonuses for using obsidian/onyx weaponry.
1.1 The melee set requires 60 strength and 60 def
1.2 The ranged set requires 60 ranged and 60 def
1.3 The magic set requires 60 magic and 60 def
1.4 Make the TzHaar citizens that fight with their respective combat styles drop <combat style> Obsidian Insignia that can be attached to Granite equipment (helm, platebody, legs, and
shield
). I hardly ever see players wearing granite, and having the equipment be used for something would make their drops more valuable.
1.4.1 For melee, the granite shield can be made into the obby shield. Ranged and magic would get bucklers or something similar.
1.4.2 Let 3 of 4 pieces of an obsidian set be needed for the set 10% damage and accuracy bonus in that combat style.
1.5 Both the ranged and magic sets should provide some small visible damage bonus to keep in line with the melee set.
2. After completing The Inferno, let the player choose between a melee, ranged, and magic version of the Infernal Cape.
2.1 For the combat styles not matching each cape's type (e.g. using ranged with the melee version), the Infernal Cape should have stats equal to the Fire Cape.
2.2 Let the ranged Infernal Cape have a +6 ranged offensive bonus, a small visible ranged strength bonus (say +4), and be able to retrieve ammunition twice as effectively as Ava's devices.
2.3 Let the magic Infernal Cape have a +11 magic offensive bonus, a small visible magic damage bonus (say +3%), and have a 5% chance of conserving combat spell runes when worn
