I think that this is a good idea of an experiment. It shows that Jagex is taking a calculated risk. Although we don't want OSRS's resources to stop expanding, from less members, we would like to have an easy way for more players to get interested in the game.
I'd agree that 2 weeks isn't much. (It took me months of FTP to want members.) HOWEVER, this is a calculated risk, where Jagex is being risky enough to get data for the future, but not so risky that the community divides, and then decreases in both community, until OS has less and less resources.
I hope you understand, guys!
Edit: It's like OSRS would grow in the long-term in total players (I'm guessing like around 3x, as a rough estimate), but it would be a short-term loss, with perma free to play. Maybe either after the community has grown to a substantial amount that the risk becomes miniscule, or if the amount of new players joining F2P, goes up, the denominator would too. This could help Jagex decide if F2P is doable.
SO TELL YOUR FRIENDS AMOUNT F2P, SO OSRS CAN GROW AND THE F2P DENOMINATOR WOULD GO GO; this can increase the chance of F2P in TWO ways!
