Finally...although this 'official' autotyper is rather disappointing
Yeah... can't you just start perm muting people who do it?
The problem with that is we'd have a large portion of our community which would be permanently muted. It seems that we need to react to what the community need and create a solution to the underlying issues rather than trying to caurterise the wound.
...which wouldn't have been an issue had the rules been enforced...sorry, that 'reason' is very disappointing....it states very clearly by you that if you want a rule changed, keep breaking it.

No, it wouldn't be a deterrent. Autoing gets you perma banned usually the first time you're caught. Even THAT is not enough of a deterrent. People would still use Auto talkers, so instead of just perma muting people, just add an option to say what you previously said, like how World of Warcraft has. In WoW, you can just say something then press "Alt+UP ARROW" to say what you previously said.
OBVIOUSLY Jagex's "auto talker" will have major anti spam. I support their auto talking idea, because I hate typing in something over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again until I get carpul tunnel.
